  1. Hello Everyone....I'm leaving on the Carnival Victory in about 2 1/2 weeks. I have a few questions. What type of toiletries are you given? Shampoo? Conditioner? Bath Gel or bar soap? Are they good products ladies or should I take my own?

Also, what type of free drinks do you get onboard? Coffee? Ice Tea? Lemonade?

You are given whatever toiletries they happen to have on hand, so I wouldn't count on anything in particular. Best to bring your own, especially shampoo, as the shampoo in the shower is not that great.

As for free drinks, tea, coffee, lemonade, juice in the morning, milk. Those are all that I can think of. I'm sure someone will answer if I left something out. I like to mix the tea and lemonade half and half.

  2. Yes, you could have to bring your own toilet paper.

Do not laugh too hard. My husband is picky about his toilet paper to the point that he brought a roll of his own on his last cruise.

Before you start telling me how bad it is on the ship plumbing, I told him that, but he said his backside could not tolerate the "sandpaper" they handed out, and he would use it sparingly (which he did).

  3. We are thinking of booking the matching room on the other side, 2470, in December. The problem is that my DH smokes, and I'm wondering where the closest place is that he can light up. Any suggestions? (and please don't say quit, because he won't.)

  4. I read somwhere that we can order juice in MDR? But I think I asked them once and I was told the only thing free was tap water?

If juice is free (not really included in your fare) on the room service menu, and free on the LIDO, why would it not be free in the dining room? I've never had a problem getting it for breakfast in dining room, why not dinner?

  5. These rooms are called interiors with picture windows (but not much of a picture). My concern is: Are these rooms charged at interior rates or are they charged at ocean view rates? There is no view of the ocean from these windows. Inquiring minds want to know. Also if you have stayed in one of these rooms and/or have pictures, would like to know. Thanks so much!

  6. We had our first call from the Upgrade Fairy last week, offering us the Owners Suite on the Sensation for $1400 more. We saw photos and the room is beautiful and really big, but we couldn't justify the cost, so we said no. We are in a suite this time and it's our first suite, so I think we will be okay with that. But $1400???? No.

$1400 would nearly cover another cruise for us in a balcony. Let's see, the Owner's Suite or another cruise. I'll take another cruise, thank you.

  7. But I think it would be nice if they let you request your table size like other lines do. It may (purely speculation) cut down on the amount of time the Maître D has to spend rearranging people that are unhappy with their darting assignment as well.

We have cruised several times now, and we have always asked for a 4top (and once a 6top) to dine with the friends we cruise with. We have always been accomodated and never had a larger table than what we asked for.

  8. Has anyone stayed in balcony room #6283? Thanks...

We stayed in 6281 last fall. Great room, over the shops, so no late night or early morning noises. Right around the corner from the elevator so straight up or down no problem. The only problem we had was with the steward. Had to ask her 3 times to unlock the fridge.

  9. Has anyone gone on the Eastern Carribean cruise lately? I am looking for ideas for excursions to Nassau,, Freeport and Key West. Any recommendations or things NOT to do?

Remember you are still in the US in Key West, so feel free to roam and explore. We took the trolley ride on our own for less than the ship charges and you can get on and off as many times as you wish. After the trolley we hiked (it is farther than it appears on the map) down to Hemingway's and took the tour. $12 for adults, less for children. It was very interesting, especially the six toed cats (yes, I counted the toes).

In Freeport we caught a taxi and went to Port Lucaya for shopping. The market area is very clean and the people will NOT chase you down the street, but they will still bargain. There are several good restaurants in this area also. I think the taxi was $10 pp each way.

In Nassau we went to the Wyndham hotel on cable beach and bought a day pass. $5 taxi pp each way and $40 for adults. They provide nice beach with pool, chairs and towels, and a buffet lunch. The lunch was very good. The hotel was just refurbished and it has a casino, but it was closed while we were there. You also have use of the Sheraton beach and facilities next door (nice bar and restrooms) and NO vendors going up and down plying their wares. Very relaxing.

This was the first cruise that we did not book any excursions through the ship and I loved it. We went when we wanted and returned when we wanted, and did not have to put up with a lot of other people all trying to do the same thing at the same time. I recommend it.

  10. Thank you!! This is very reassuring! We have never cruised before so we will just bring a lot of dramamine just in case! Plus we dont plan on being in the room all that much...hey and thanks for the tip on that secret door- i was looking at the deck plans and noticed a deck should be out there :) Thanks all!!

We buy ginger tablets. $4 a bottle at Walmart. We take one per day starting the day before we sail, and usually I can quit taking them about the third day into the cruise. Best thing about them, they are all natural and have NO side effects. (They also aid digestion, which makes my DH happy.)

  11. Anyone been on the panorama deck? What were your thoughts about it? Considering a move down to the verandah deck because im reading you can really feel the movement up on deck 10....

    any and all thoughts/comments appreciated!!!!!!!!!

We were on the Panorama deck and just loved it. It was nice and quiet up there and soooo close to the Lido and all the action. The views were also fantastic. And there is a secret door to the balcony over the bridge which is huge and not used much at all. We didn't notice much movement at all, but then we get our sea legs pretty fast. Both decks are nice, but I would stay on panorama.

  12. Please email me the capers (western itinerary) to kmmayeux@netscape.net (thanks!)

Also, aft extended balcony - empress deck....good & bad about them? Will we have a hair dryer, fridge? Ample storage room (I tend to over pack for a 4 day can't imagine a 7 day).

Anything to definitely not miss about this ship? First time on Conquest class ship...

We have late dining (which was our request) - how was the food? Do they have any "adult" area like the serenity deck on Fantasy?

    Thanks!

All balconies have hair dryer and fridge, although some say the hair dryer is weak and the fridge is really just a cooler. I have short hair and the dryer works fine for me. The fridge always kept our wine cool enough to drink too.

We always have late dining so we don't have to hurry back from excursions and can rest before dinner. The food is great mostly, but if you're a Texan, you will be just a little disappointed in the steaks. However, in the specialty dining room, the steaks and everything else is to die for. Don't forget to try it.

  13. Just recently got our cabin assignment for our 2-15-09 sailing on the Conquest. We got a nice upgrade to cabin 1110 on the Spa Deck. Anyone have any information on the cabin or the location in general?

    Thanks!

That is a great cabin. It has floor to ceiling windows that slant out giving you a little more floor room in the cabin. They even have a good size table and chairs next to the window. We were right below this room in a balcony cabin last year. We didn't notice much movement and we were sooooo close to the happenings on the Lido.
