  1. There is a catamaran tour to St Johns (Princess) that sounds good only it says a vest will be provided and must be worn. I'm a scuba diver and an avid snorkeler who likes to free dive and I would rather stay dry then wear a stupid vest. Are they really militant about it or have people experienced it treated more on a case by case basis? Thanks

  2. "Potcake" is the Bahamian term for the thick, leftover food that remains in the bottom of a pot of peas 'n rice after several reheatings. Traditionally, Bahamians fed potcake to the outdoor, indigenous dogs that freely populated the Bahamas. Hence the dogs have come to be known as Potcake...

    Love it!

  3. I am having no luck finding a boat for my day in Grand Turk-not that they are full-rather they are empty! I am not paying $200 to charter a boat for myself and do not want to do the HAL excursion because they make you wear a vest and follow the leader like sheep for only an hour in the water. I know it is too far to swim to any of the spots. Has anyone had experience in finding an excursion when they get into port? I don't care about the size of the boat or of there are snacks-I just want to snorkel snorkel snorkel :D

  4. Not trying to be snobbish, but not one of the mega ships' food even comes close to any of those according to every ratings I have seen. If you truly are a foodie, and not just looking for quantity, take the opportunity to have some of the best food you have ever eaten - day or night, I highly recommend trying one of those cruise lines"....

We I am certainly a foodie, but I am also a broke graduate student and in no position to try one of those higher-end lines. Suggesting that someone is somehow oblivious to what quality food and presentation is all about (i.e., "if you truly are a foodie") because they cannot afford the high end cruise does come across a bit snobbish. ANYWAYS...

Celebrity easily #1 (based on my experiences with Carnival and NCL). Made the trek to the dining room every night, ordered multiple appetizers each night, had lovely experiences throughout. Maybe one dish on an 11 night cruise that was not to my likings. I LOVED Celebrities Asian breakfast and Eggs Benedict Stand, and their ice cream/gelato offerings like lychee and pomegranate.

With Carnival I have had to send things back, their breakfast buffet is boring with few choices, and it was that nasty vanilla or chocolate soft serve out of a machine. NCL was completely forgettable. Will be on RCCL Radiance this March for the South Pacific-hoping it is closer to Celebrity in quality than the other lines.
