Ahh that’s not a bad idea..since all those things are close, we could do them, then ride up the river to the Tower Of London, to see the Crown Jewels.

We were on the 6/1 British Isles cruise and it was amazing!  We spent 3 days in London prior to embarkation and also hoped to see the Crown Jewels.  When we got to the Tower of London, we were told the Crown Jewels had not yet been returned after the recent coronation - disappointing but it was still amazing to see everything else.  Hopefully by the time you arrive, they will be back!!  You will love the cruise and the crew on the Regal is incredible.  Have a wonderful time!!

  2. We were on the Athens to Barcelona leg of this cruise as well and found the Regal to be wonderful.  This was our first cruise post Covid and we felt although there may be a few differences from pre Covid, the entire cruise was incredible.  The crew was seemed very happy to be back and we found everyone to be helpful and friendly.  We booked EZ Air from Charlotte, NC and all flights went smoothly and we had no problems at all.

We arrived in Athens 3 days before the cruise, which was a great choice for us as it gave us time to adjust to the time difference and explore Athens as well.  Although we were only able to do one leg of this cruise, we hope to go back in a few years for the "rest" of the legs.  Amazing itinerary!!

Your review was wonderful!  We are booked on the Regal next June for the British Isle cruise and cannot wait to board her again!

  3. We used them 2 weeks ago from the Athens airport to the hotel in central Athens (Athens Gate) and they were wonderful.  Driver was helpful and gave many suggestions for the area and answered many of our questions.  Plan to use them again next June in London.

  4. Thank you everyone for some helpful info.  I appreciate each and every one.

Cornishpastyman1 - we are hoping to go to Grenen and it appears the bus would be much cheaper than the ship's tour - and give us more time to enjoy the area.  The ship will be in port from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. so it sounds like we could do this and still explore the town.

Hallasam - are there any other suggestions that would be a must see/do while we are there?  Looks like a wonderful port to visit!

Thank you all again - and will be checking the Copenhagen threads again for more hints as well!

  5. We are booked on the Crown Princess 7 day Scandinavian cruise for July 2020.  Very excited as this will be our first European cruise!  I have been trying to find excursion info for the ports but find most info is for the fjord cruise.  Has anyone taken this cruise and have any suggestions for excursions?  Typically we book independent excursions for the Caribbean but since these ports are all unfamiliar to us we are not sure if we should stick with ship excursions.  The ports are Kristinsand Norway, Oslo Denmark, Skagen Denmark and Copenhagen Denmark.  All thoughts are welcome - if there are any suggestions as what is a must do or something to "skip" that is welcome too.  I have done a search on these boards but limited info for Kristinsand and Skagen.

Thanks so much for any of your thoughts!

  6. Thanks so much.  Our friends just booked the concerts at sea and we are thinking of booking the regular cruise as long as there are still plenty of the regular things to do - and maybe we could hear the music at different times as well.  I don't think there are too many places on the Regal that could totally be closed off other than the theater perhaps?  Sounds like a great time!!

  7. We got off the Caribbean Princess two weeks ago and the Ocean Medallion was fully functional.  We loved it.  No problems at all setting it up before we left, however, there are crew members all over the ship who are more than  willing to help with any questions.  We loved it -  so many functions and very easy to use.  But if you don't want it - don't use it.  For us - it was great and we loved it!

  8. Sounds like you had a wonderful time.  We were on the Caribbean Princess two weeks ago and loved every minute - no complaints at all.  We thought the Cruise Director, Matt, was hilarious.  Yes, you are able to check your onboard account with the medallion - and we did not have any problems with the medallion throughout the cruise.  We had a great time!

    Oh, Good Grief!  :classic_rolleyes:

Much, much, much more was offered at the buffet on CB than descriped above!

Agree 100% - there was always something to find at the buffet and we never once saw a  hot dog in a soggy bun with all the toppings! Lots of choices!

  10. We got off of the Caribbean Princess March 9 and had a fantastic cruise.  We are elite and this was one of our favorite cruises ever.  Everywhere we went, crew was friendly and smiling and Cruise director Matt is truly one of the best we have ever seen.  We had no problems at all with a/c in the cabin and no complaints about the ship.  Would sail her again in a heartbeat!  The Medallion net was very impressive and we enjoyed the ease of the medallion - again we had no problems.

I am onboard the Caribbean Princess right now. When I logged into Medallion Net, I was given 2 options. Select my 150 free minutes or purchase unlimited with a 25% discount. I selected the unlimited and my account was charged 49.99. My OBC easily covered the expense.  I’m glad I didn’t pre-purchase for $59.99.

This was for one device usage at a time. There was also an option to use 4 devices ( I don’t recall the cost). My DH cost to just use his free minutes.

The speed is unbelievable! I have been able to stream shows from HBO Now without any delay or slowdown. And no need to logout.

I agree - the speed was incredible.  We paid the same ($52 with tax) and have no complaints at all.  My husband used his free minutes but whenever he wanted to catch up his fishing info, etc....he used the medallion net.  Never had a problem at all!

So, is the medallionnet a faster internet than the free minutes?  Also, if you only buy it for one person, how do they manage that?  Is it just one log in to one device at a time?  So I purchase one, and can use it on my computer or my wife's tablet, but not both at the same time?

Yes, you are correct.  One device log in at one time (unless you purchase additional plans).  My  husband and I shared but only one device could be logged on at one time.  I am not sure about the regular internet speed but the medallion was incredibly fast.  We loved it.

Is the free internet per person or per cabin? We are sailing the 23rd on a 7 day and I don’t need much internet, just to check emails from home a few times a days. We have an.elderly parent and elderly dogs, plus  to check credit card transactions.

Each person who has platinum or elite status would receive the free minutes.

  14. We also used a picture of our dog as our avatar and the door worked perfectly all the time.  We never had a problem with ocean medallion during the entire cruise on the Caribbean Princess and we just got off yesterday.  The security photo is totally different.  We loved the Medallion!

We are mid-ship, a super location on the eight deck called Emerald. One deck below are the bars and pubs and specialty restaurants. To answer your question about seating in our oceanview room, there is one small chair that tucks into the desk. Our room is right besides the mid-ship stairs and elevators, but we tend to take the stairs more often than the elevator in order to work off all the delicious food and sugary drinks. 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

Our cabin had the desk chair as well as the "barrel" chair, however, it was not a triple cabin and perhaps that is why there is only one chair.  We thought the location was perfect and we have booked the same cabin for our next cruise!
