Bought day pass directly from Playa Mia website.  Took a taxi from the port area.

We will possibly be with an older person with mobility issues. Do you know if paying transfer would help her as far as distance walking for pick up and drop offs or is it all the same?

We went to Playa Mia and it was great.  My kids enjoyed the pool and water slides.  Would recommend for sure!

Where did you get your tickets and did you pay for transfer?

  3. Hi there,

My family (SIL, MIL, husband, and 3 year old) will be going to Playa Mia in March. I haven't purchased tickets yet, because I'm considering a few things.

First, transfers-- is there a benefit to purchasing with transfer compared to finding our own cab? From what I've heard, we may be able to have more flexibility with arrival and departure from the club if we have our own transportation? I was a little worried that if we needed to get home sooner, it may be difficult if we paid for the transfer service? Or, on the flipside, if we wanted to stay later?

(ETA: I decided to peruse the reviews on tripadvisor, and some of the older reviews mention that the transfer that is included is at your leisure, so maybe we can arrive and leave when we want?)

The second thing was that we were considering doing the a la carte option because the menu food is better than the buffet food. We are drinkers, but don't mind paying if the food is better. Anyone have any insight on that?

By the way, where should we purchase tickets? There are many places to buy.

    Thank you for any insight!

Anyone been recently??  Trying to decide what to do when we go in 2 weeks.  Traveling with a 10 and 6 year old.  Have done Mr. Sanchos in the past.

What did you end up doing?

Learned my lesson on this past cruise- don't buy the package if you don't want the prints! The digitals were $22 and they were $5.99 each if you buy the print for $20.

I wanted to clarify, because I also want the digitals. The $199 pixel package that includes ten photos and the canvas... there are no digitals included, and the digitals would still be 22 each?

Is this on your upcoming Jubilee cruise?  She has barely sailed…I would be asking on the Carnival board.  Maybe it’s something like the lift at Mahogany Bay.  EM

I’m sorry, I should have clarified. I’m talking about the chairs at Mahogany Bay. It says toddlers are free— but was curious as to how secure it feels?

awww good point  thank you for being astute.

So I get that this is four years later, but I went on the cruise and forgot about this post, then had a baby and didn't do any cruising for a while (other than a baby moon I did very little prep for).. I have a cruise coming up and found my way to my old posts...

So if you're invested, I ended up finding an amazing stylist in Galveston and I got a haircut the day before the cruise and it was wonderful. Sorry to leave you hanging! haha

  8. I got a haircut a few days ago and it’s terrible. Too short, and sloppily done. Took him 10 minutes and 65 dollars later I was gone.

I’m not picky and I’m not exaggerating.

I leave for our cruise Sunday. I would love to get it fixed— currently it’s uneven, random blunt chunks (all he did was cut from left to right).

Anyone had experience with salons on board a carnival ship (or any ship)? I’m sure they’re fully capable, I’m just terrified of going way shorter or digging myself in a deeper hole.

Ps you may be wondering why I didn’t do anything about it when I was there. I just wanted out.  Wasn’t sure how terrible  it was until I left. He made his first dry cut, I smelled alcohol on his breath. I froze and just hoped for the best and wanted to get the heck out of there.

  9. I've used FTTF before, but this is my first time noticing this. We chose 10-10:30 as our check-in time (because you have to choose something and at the time did not have FTTF), we then purchased FTTF back in February. I notice now on the Carnival website under "my orders" it says "12-1" next to the FTTF purchase. So now I have both sets of times in my cruise details on the carnival website (one time is in the booking details at the top, and the other time is next to my FTTF purchase order at the bottom). With FTTF we can arrive at any time, correct?

  10. We tipped extra for every drink we got on cheers and spent close to 200 on tips. I did a little snooping out of curiosity on my first cruise with cheers, and I noticed hardly anyone else tipped extra on their card when they had cheers. We do budget for extra tips but may reel it in a tiny bit next time, depending on the interaction.

  11. My husband and I are wanting to take a mini break on a Sunday through Wednesday in May. We are driving to Galveston and can't decide on a hotel. We usually stay at Tremont the night before we cruise, and we love it. Considering trying something different, this time.

This time we are looking for the stay at the hotel and location to feel like our mini vacation. We also want to be walking distance from lively restaurants/bars/live music. We know HH would be great for that-- but the pool at Galvez looks amazing and we really want to take full advantage of a nice pool (plus they have a swim up bar which sounds amazing). Should we stay at Galvez and just drive to the Tremont/HH area for the lively restaurants/bars?
