  1. We are eight days from our Celebrity Cruise, which we booked April 2015. We have had nothing but problems with both the website and the customer service, when we called. All reservations were booked with celebrity directly.

There are three cabins in our group: One Suite, one concierge level and one standard cabin, and last cabin occupant is from the UK while the first two from the U.S.

We have tried to link the reservations so many times. They say they are linked and then come unlinked. We currently show un-linked. They are nonchalant about it on the phone. "just take care of it when you get on board". Um. That is what planning is all about, not waiting until the last moment.

We have tried to book joint reservations at specialty reservations to no avail.

The website would list a balance due after we were paid in full.

The Rep actually sent me someone else's invoice once instead of my own.

Regardless of the quality of the cruise itself, we have talked among our group about how this will make us hesitate booking with them in the future.

The worst part is we never have these problems on Royal Caribbean.

  3. If all else fails... Put a bar chair in front of the ATM and let her go wild.

    Enjoy your cruise.

    Andy 39 days

Not to forget you, Walt: 185

LOL. I've always said change Machines (bill breakers) have the best odds in the house, a 100% return!

  4. One of the best things I have ever spent money on a cruise, by far, was booking a private two day tours with ALLA in St Petersburg. Our own driver and guide, went where we want (no canal cruise at 730 am, but lets go shopping mid day). Had super easy access to Hermitage, St Catherines, Peterhof, etc. Had some rooms completely to ourselves.

  5. After all these years, based on the great nudge from this thread, I finally booked an annual policy excluding cancellation insurance but covering all the medical stuff (especially evacuation/repatriation) . Did a google search and found a site that analyzed policies, picked the one that suited my wife and I best, and got a years coverage for both for under $400, or $1.05 per day.

We travel internationally about four times a year and domestically about 5 times.

    We aren't getting any younger.

    Thanks to all.

  6. Buying High and Selling Low is always a hard way to make money. Stock pays a 1.5% Dividend. Don't know exactly when you bought, but it only hit $90 the first time ever in July. Sounds like either getting out now or holding on and not planning on selling for years might be the better strategy.

  7. My wife and I recently came back from St. Petersburg using a 2-day Alla private tour. Our Guide was DARIA and our Driver VIKTOR. The 'splurge' for the private tour aspect is easily the best vacation dollar ever. We had near private and immediate access to the Hermitage, Catherine's palace etc. Alla (With our specialist ANNA) tailored our trip to our wants (Two lunches, STOLLE's was great), no canal boat, later start, etc. Can't say enough about it.

  8. We are definitely a "Disney' family. Owned stock since 1991. Daughter took her first steps in magic kingdom, etc. Two Dis Cruises and they were wonderful.

Entertainment is the one thing head and shoulders above any cruise line for me. On one cruise, Jennifer Hudson was in the the chorus when she was maybe 20 yrs old. Yes, Oscar Winning JH!

However, the cost premium can't be justified for me. Case in point. Dis Friends are going to St Petersburg on DCL this summer. I checked cost of outside cabin with a porthole and it ws $13,000 for two people!!!!

Just booked on RCL a trip to St Petersburg two weeks earlier and it costs $3,400 for two and we get a huge balcony and $200 OBC!

It DCL nicer, I'd say yes. Is it four times nicer? No.

    Just my two cents.

  9. I'm another vote for Why dine at Cagney's with children?

I love all the parents that come on here and say that there kids are the best, well behaved blah blah blah.

Out of all our cruises and can count on one finger the number of times I have gone to dinner and seen well behaved kids in the specialty restaurants, so I guess what parents are saying on here is that it's perfectly fine for their well behaved child to have a melt down. JMO

That's right up there with "My dog has never bitten anyone before"

  10. Disney exceeds NCL and virtually every other cruise line for entertainment (we saw Jennifer Hudson in the CHORUS of DCL show!)

Food was better than NCL and service superior.

However, the price was double most other lines.

If DCL was same price I would never go on another line, even without kids.

However, the price is twice as high as most other lines, and the service isn't twice as good nor the food twice as tasty.

If youi want a special occasion, splurge with DCL.

You want to go on two cruise for the price of once DCL, Go on NCL.
