We were just there last week. The lady that gives massages was there and working. The beach is pretty, water beautiful. It seemed like quite a ride to get there - we had a big enough group that we paid a guy named Gordon to bus us over. The Nest restaurant and bar has a small list of food, most folks like us were ordering one burger to share due to the rediculous pricing. I do have to say that their rum punch is unlike anyone else's, very different, tasty and strong.

Jeanne, before you bid, try calling the hotel directly to see if they even have any rooms available. Last year, I keep bidding and bidding for over a month without success. For some reason, I finally called the Sheraton and found out that they were completely booked. No amount of bidding was gonna help me! Just an FYI, I think there is another Sheraton now out by the Convention Center and the Pan Am pier. Good Luck. Keep us posted on your progress/success. Nancy
Yeah, but at the end of September I rarely find a hotel that's booked. I'll keep at it !!

You didn't give dates, so I can't duplicate your search. Based on the casino info you mentioned, I don't think that the 3 1/2* is the Sheraton OSJ as that hotel had a casino the last time I was there (check their website for current info).
I picked a date in January 2012, to see want info was provided. Of the 2 hotels listed for that date, the 4* says its on the beach while the 3 1/2* says its near the beach. Neither listed Spa icons. I have no guesses as to what the 3 1/2* is but I think the 4* is the Intercontential in Isla Verda (for the date I looked at).
Hope this helps. Nancy
Thanks so much for trying ! My check-in/out dates are 9/23/11-9/25/11.
Sounds like you ended up with something a bit different with the January dates because neither of mine yesterday mentioned a beach !
I know many have been lucky on Priceline by clicking 3 1/2 * and NOT resort to get Sheraton OSJ, but I'm just not that much of a gambler. Through Expedia I think I can get same hotel for $119 non-refundable. I'll keep playing around, any more help would be welcome !

I'm confused. I want to try to land Sheraton OSJ on Hotwire. I get it down to 2 offerings "near OSJ" and the one with 4* lists a casino and SPA in with the ammenities.
The one with 3 1/2* does not list a casino but has the rest of the icons that this hotel would have. For those that are experienced, would you think that the 4* is the Sheraton OSJ ?

Has anyone been know to win El San Juan on Priceline ? If you click San Juan "Airport" area and 5 stars, it must be the only one .....

There should be more amenities listed other then just "close to a golf course".
Also i think betterbidding dot com is a wonderful resource site to help identify hotels on Hotwire.
Just booked one night post-cruise Sheraton Old San Juan last night. I was pretty confident that the hotel would be the Sheraton and it was. I didn't want to risk Priceline so I settled on Hotwire. Sheraton's location seems ideal right near the port; no taxi cost.
There were more amenities listed than that, but they were all the usual suspects. It's the golf-flag symbol that was new to me. I went to betterbidding but found the site very confusing.

I was poking around on Hotwire today and for SJ resorts it offered me one for $102 and under amenities it listed "close to a golf course." Anybody have a clue as to which resort that might be ?

I just bid on Priceline and got the Conrad San Juan for $100 per night Dec 9-11, my first bid was $80 and was rejected, they gave me the chance to bid again with only changing the amount.
Any special tricks to getting Conrad ?

In '04 and '07, June was definately "low season" pricing.

I enjoyed Spencer Ambrose's tour as well. You might want to compare the two (SA versus Cosol) The merchants on the side of the road are awful ... but you can't avoid them as they know where the guides stop for photo ops.
