  1. We will be going on our first Celebrity cruise next March as well after several with Princess and one with Holland America. It sounds like it will be right up our alley. We find that Princess tries a little too hard to sell products, services, etc. for our taste. Is there a lot of that on Celebrity?

  2. Hi RCI fans. We have cruised primarily on Princess, and will be trying Celebrity next year. On our recent Princess cruise, we met a lot of RCI fans. I had always thought of this line as something more in line with younger families with very active schedules, but these people were more in line with our age (or older). We were fairly active until my husband suffered a stroke and he now has some significant disabilities, and we're moving much more slowly these days. Even before the stroke, however, we've always kind of liked the idea of relaxing on a cruise. What do you think? Will we like RCI - and what suggestions would your have for our choice of ship/itinerary/etc.? Thanks!

  3. This is in my booking paperwork:

"Bookings may only be transferred to a Travel Agent up until 60 days from creation if the request is made outside of final payment period and the booking is not paid in full. If a booking has a ChoiceAir ticket and the transfer request involves a change in currency we cannot accommodate a transfer. Guests wishing to transfer their reservation to a travel agency must submit their request in writing utilizing our authorization transfer form found on our consumer website. The form must be completed and signed by one of the direct guests on the reservation and faxed or mailed to Sales Administration for processing. The fax number and address can be found on the form."

Does this really mean that I only have 60 days to transfer this to a travel agent unless I pay it in full? My cruise is not for almost another year, so I thought I had some time to think on it.

  4. We've become door slammers... Just thought I'd mention it here so people can realize that sometimes you do things that can be a bit annoying to others without meaning to. My husband has significant right side paralysis from a stroke, and we just went on our first cruise since the event last month. When he enters and leaves the room, he can't swing around and catch the door before it slams behind him, and sometimes I'm not there with him, or not quick enough to catch it. At least on Princess, the doorways aren't very wide, and two people can't be in there at once. I'm sure most people who slam are just not thinking, but sometimes there's a story behind an annoying "habit." We've got enough trouble in our lives; I would hope no one would retaliate simply because they heard our door slam.

  5. It surprises me that the dry dock only lasted one week. We were on the sailing just prior to it, and the ship looked like it was in need of more than could possibly have been done in a week's time.

We were on it in January and agree that it needed more than a week. It was looking a bit tired. Didn't affect our cruise of course.

Ours either. We had a very nice time.

  6. If it was chartered, you couldn't book on to that cruise unless you went through, and were a part of the group doing the chartering. If it was a large group, I would expect assignments would have been made by now.

A cruise next month? Could easily be assigning GTY bookings. But I have seen a black helicopter floating around...

Sorry - I meant to put in there March 2019!

  7. Hi BlueCat1105,

You would obtain double my cruise points for each dollar spent for Celebrity, Azamara & Royal Caribbean, on each of the branded cards.

However, there are other benefits, which are brand specific (especially for the Premium Cards - which carry a $69 annual fee), so there may be reasons to have a Celebrity card.

If spending is what matters the most, then you should be ok. I hope this is helpful !

I completely forgot that I had asked this question! Can you be more specific about what benefits there are to the $69 annual fee card?

  8. I've hired a professional and it worked out great. Now, however, I hire the neighbor's teenage daughter, who stays overnight with our pets at our request. We have two dogs and a cat. If I had cats alone, I wouldn't ask someone to stay the night. Dogs have different needs than cats. We couldn't be happier with our pet sitter. They're all happy and healthy, and our home is looked after and lived in while we're away. I feel less uneasy about being robbed while we're away with someone here on a regular schedule.

  9. And the deposit is reduced. It is only $100 per person. And you can pay only $100 and have the other person in the cabin listed as To Be Decided. That way you can have a hold on a 14 night or longer cruise for a lot less than if you booked off ship. And the booking number can even be transfered to another cruise if you change your mind. Great idea!! I like it better than the future cruise certificate as that one is non-refundable.

Can someone clarify? A Future Cruise Credit is actually booking a specific cruise while on board, with applicable reduced deposit, OBC and upgrade, but a Passages Certificate is a reduced deposit certificate that gives you and OBC for a cruise not yet selected? Is neither refundable?

And did I read this right - you can book the cruise with only one $100 credit, even though you intend to sail with another person?

    Thanks.

  10. For evening I wear Samsara by Guerlain. It's a glam, grown up perfume, perfect for dressing up.

I used to like Samsara very much, but i realized that my lovely, affectionate cat, Bob, would snub me immediately when I put it on. He doesn't do that with my other perfumes.

Also, I have several little atomizers, similar to the the Travalo. I love them!
