  1. Not sure what the procedures are for Lahaina. Never docked there. At Kahului Maui and Nawiliwili Kauai they are definately available. In Kona, I believe there is an option to walk to the King Kamehameha hotel very near the dock and get your car instead of taking the airport shuttle. There are two different options at the hotel, I don't recall which they were. You can go straight to the hotel's website to book. We did not book in Hilo, but I believe shuttles ran to the airport locations there as well.

Thanks for the info...2 ports out of the way

  2. No problems with Discount Hawaii Car Rental (DHCR)... used them last year for our reservations on Oahu, Maui & Kauai. On Oahu we used Alamo; on Maui we used Avis; and on Kauai we used Thrifty.

Last month, DHCR hooked us up with Budget for our week on Oahu. FYI - gas prices ranged from as low as $2.88 to $3.04 per gallon.

    Hi,

Are there shuttles at all the cruise ports for car rental pickups?

    Thx Geo

  3. You can get then online up to two months in advance to avoid standing in line. Do note, however, if you choose that method, that you must pick up your tickets at least an hour before your selected time or they will be given away.

    Hi,

If I was to reserve 2mnths ahead is there a separate line for that reason or would there be one line for all?

    Thx Geo

  4. I have been on 20 cruises (Carnival, Royal Carribbean, Holland America, NCL, Costa, and Princess) and have always put liquor in my checked bag and have never had any problems until about 6 months ago on an NCL cruise. I received a note at my cabin stating that during routine scanning of bag they noticed a "questionable" object in my bag and they wanted me to head to the card room to collect my bag. They also placed their liquor policy on the sheet. Needless to say, I knew what this was about! Anyway, I went and stood in line with approximately 10 other people. When it was my turn to enter the room, I entered and they asked me if I had liquor in my bag to which I answered honestly. I opened the bag for them and showed them the liquor. I actually had three bottles of different types of liquor. After a brief conversation with the officer, he told me that he wanted me to have a good time and he let me keep all the liquor. I was so embarrassed but I can't say anything negative about NCL because they treated me really well and did not make me feel bad at all.

We all laugh about it now but it was so embarassing that day. Anyway, I just wanted to share my story so you all have an idea of what could happen![/quote

what happens in the naughty room should stay in the naughty room!

  5. I seriously doubt that the ship is going to wait for two people who land at the airport 15 minutes after the ship is set to start the cruise.

    Hi,

A few years back we booked a Pacific Coast repo out of Vancouver and we decided to fly in the same day from the east coast ( BAD judgement)!

The flights were a disaster from the start with 25 min delay on a bad valve to flying int Detroit instead of Chicago..

Saving grace was there. Was a couple on the chi to van with us...they bought the air from Ncl....

We were throwwn in a limo with this couple and whisked away to the ship...

The muster drill was going on and we actually checked in at the pursers desk!

Thank god for the other couple!

I don't remember how late the ship was held but we made it by the skin of our teeth.

Ncl will get you on the ship one way or another if you buy the cruise-air

  6. Because if you don't need the passport to get off or reboard the ship there is NO reason to bring it off the ship, in fact there are some itineraries where the ship will actually hold passenger's passports until the end of the voyage.

If there is indeed an situation where you need to stay on at the port after the ship departs, you need to contact the port agent and your belongings will be at the dock waiting for you. That passport is a very important document, its a LOT safer on the ship in the safe than with you on a shore excursion.

I would agree...I would hate to get it picked out of my pocket in Rome ...What happens when I disembark in Barcelona to fly home to the US???

  7. I know this is a thread for the NCL Master Card, but many pages back, they were discussing other options for better deals on credit cards for travel.

Here may be the best deal out there:

a Chase Sapphire Card. If you spend $3000 during the first 3 months you get enough points to get (ready for this) $625 back, either cash or towards travel.

We have gotten it, and used it, and there are no gimmicks.

There is a annual fee of $95, but the first year is waived, so you can get it and cancel after the first year.

    Cheers

    Hi,Giant Fan...

Have You tried to book any travel thru Ultimate rewards...and if so were the prices competitive with other booking options?

The rewards seem like a good deal so the skeptic in me wants to find the bad side of the deal.

    Thanks

    Geo
