I recently completed an 8 day cruise on Ruby to the South Pacific. I didn’t find any problems associated with the ship at all. She is in very good condition. I love the layout of this class of ship, having sailed on her sister, Emerald, for 60+ nights a couple of years ago. Would not hesitate in booking her again.

My husband and I sailed on her as Pacific Sun with P&O Australia. Such a lovely ship - it felt like coming home when we boarded her. Great to see she is still in service.

I am sailing on the Sea Princess in June (first ever cruise) and I would love to visit the bridge and the ship infrastructure
I have had a look on the Princess website and there doesn't appear to be a ship tour available
Is there are a way this can be arranged?
Happy Cruising

Hi there,
Qhen you board the ship, you will see an ad in the Princess Patter in your cabin. Head to the Pursers Desk as soon as you can. My husband has done the Ultimate Ships Tour twice - Sea Princess last year and Sun Princess on our recent cruise. He loved it and said it is definitely worth the money. His tour lasted almost four hours however, the usual length is around two hours. Numbers are limited and it can be quite popular. However, in saying that, on our NZ cruise, the tour was cancelled due to lack of numbers. Enjoy your cruise!
Maybe they still have some boxes of black ones left.
We disembarked Sun Princess last Friday and we still had the black cards. I would imagine there is plenty of black stock down here :D -
What sort of smell are people complaining about? I can't say I have ever noticed any particularly offensive odours on any of our recent cruises.
-
I think this is a worldwide phenomenon. My husband and I have just returned from 41 nights onboard Sun Princess. We were disappointed in the lack of effort a lot of passengers made to adhere to the dress standards, be it formal or casual, that are clearly printed in the Patter. One passenger even wore thongs (flip flops) to dinner. Not only are the dress standards slipping but it wasn't uncommon for passengers to turn up half an hour late as happened on our table. The excuse for their lateness? They were in the gym! Not only is it rude to their fellow tablemates, it is downright rude to the waiters and the galley staff. I guess we shouldn't be surprised as the world seems to be all about "me" these days.

Although my husband and I no longer cruise with P&O, we absolutely love Pacific Dawn - we would love to have seen what she was like as Regal Princess. She was his first ship and my first after a 22 year break. We love the classic design of her and the interior.

They are fantastic photos!

Sorry, no tips on the best way to pack clothes (except I usually try to pack the way most shop assistants fold clothes). There is a laundromatte on upper deck that I know of.

Thanks to boeckli and waterwheel for posting your photos. They are great!!

Hi Chez,
Thank you for posting the link to your fantastic photos!! I have loved spending the last half hour flicking through them. Roll on 17 March 2009!

Thanks for posting the link, Arxcards. Having just eaten my lunch, all I can say I am SO glad I wasn't onboard for that cruise - as much as I like rough seas, that was way too extreme for my liking!!

Hi Prunes71,
Thank you so much for posting those photos of Pacific Dawn. My husband and I are super excited now that she is sailing on her last cruise before ours!! They are great shots and I particularly like the last one with the Opera House in the foreground. Only 9 days to go for us!!

And we packed all our information into a cheap clear display book, which was great for keeping it all together. Also kept the patters and menus neat and flat for bringing back
That's a great idea!!

It brought tears to my eyes too. If only we could go back and do it all again. :(
Great work, Gail and Jim. I loved, loved, loved the sound of the ships whistles, it was just fabulous. :)
Excellent video Charlie Girl. Like Brushtail, I loved the ships whistles. Perfect!!

Hi Karen,
Thank you for posting the photos of the Rhapsody of the Seas - she looks like an impressive ship. It looked a lovely day in Sydney too.

Hi Neil,
That's a great video. Venice looks like a beautiful city (at least viewed from the cruise cam!). What a terrific choice of music from one of the great tenors of the modern world. I love Pavarotti's Nessun Dorma.

Worst Back to Back Ever Experienced
in Princess Cruises
Posted
My husband and I did four B2B cruises out of Seattle in 2018 - we did not have to disembark at all. Although we did choose to on two occasions when we walked into the city. Seattle is THE best embark/disembark port we have ever cruised out of. Melbourne is the worst, closely followed by Sydney. In saying that, my recent cruise on Ruby ex-Sydney was the best Sydney experience I have had.
