  1. My son is currently 23 months old and we just got back from a Disney World vacation. We have a Disney Cruise booked for May. I’m really hoping he does as well on the cruise as he did it Disney! He loved it! He stood in lines like a champ. He napped in his stroller. He loved the rides, even the ones I thought might be bored (I envisioned him trying to climb out of the boat on It’s a Small World), but he really did great! One word of warning is about the characters. My son loves Disney and was so excited to see the characters. He was carrying his Mickey and Goofy stuffed animals around saying “I see Goofy” “I see Mickey”. He was excited at our character breakfast when he saw Mickey from a distance. He was yelling that he saw Mickey.... until Mickey came to our table and touched him. It didn’t go well! After a while he was ok with the characters as long as they kept their distance. He played peek a boo with them from a few feet away...lol

  2. We have a Disney cruise booked for next May. Our plan is to try to get pregnant right after. Two of our ports, St. Thomas and Tortola, have active Zika warnings. We already planned on staying on board for St. Thomas since we’ve already been and want to enjoy a mostly empty ship. We’re now thinking about staying on for Tortola too to be safe. We would check ourselves daily, and if we got bit, wait the recommended 6 months.

So my question is, have you seen mosquitoes on the ship while in port?

  3. We only go to places we can get with modes of transportation that don't need car seats, since I would also never put my child in a car or taxi without one (though plenty of people do on vacation). We find places that we can walk to, take a bus, or take a boat. It does limit options somewhat, but it is what is right for our family until the kids are old enough to be safe without car seats.

Have you found any ports that have a beach or anything like that within walking distance? Grand Turk was amazing. Everything was right in the port. But RCI and NCL don’t seem to cruise there.

  4. I would absolutely never put my son in a car or taxi without a car seat. I’m really not sure where you got that idea from what I posted. I’m thinking that getting sand in the components of a car seat can’t be good for it. I was just wondering what other families have done and how it’s worked out for them.

  5. It will depend on the sea conditions

I do not usually get sick but on occasion if near the bow I will feel nauseous if there is any kind of a swell

It's such a nice room, and would be great since we have a group of 10 going. The price for the upgrade is reasonable too. I've only ever got actually sick once (on a cruise in Dec) and even then I was able to take Dramine and continue on with the day. Other times I've has some nausea with the motion but nothing that stopped my day. I would just hate to upgrade to a nicer room and not be able to enjoy it.

  6. Hi,

We are booked in an aft penthouse suite on the NCL dawn on deck 10. We sailed the same room on deck 9 last year. I wore the seasickness patch and while I could feel motion in the room I didn't feel sick. We have to opportunity to upgrade to the deluxe owners suite which is in the front of the ship. I'm wondering if I will be more likely to get sea sick in this room. It seems like a beautiful room, but I'd hate to pay more and then get sick.

  8. My husband and I are looking to take our 10 year old son on his first cruise. We are looking at either a balcony stateroom or the aft facing penthouse suite on the Dawn. The balcony rooms clearly state that there is a pull out sofa, and I'm wondering if the aft facing penthouse suite has one as well. We sailed in the aft penthouse before, but there was only 2 of us, so we didn't notice if the love seat was a pullout or not.

  9. I just bought these 2 dresses for my formal nights. I'll post a pic of each on me when i try them on at home and take a few pics :) Please let me kno what you think....are they ok for formal nights?

i got them both at Macys...the black one has a criss cross back :)

  10. I definately agree with most of the things people have posted. One additional thing that I missed so much when I got off the ship was having my favorite people only a few doors away. I went on my first cruise in June and I was immediately hooked. Anytime I needed anythig or wanted to do something all i had to do was walk a few doors down and i coud always find someone who wanted to join me in whatever adventure I had planned. I also loved the picture gallery. It was nice to look at the picture of all of us doing different things. I love the formal night pictures. I'm planng a cruise for June 08. I love planning and most of my friends are happy to let me take the reigns. Reading all of these posts gets me so excited for my next cruise!:D :D
