Check the accessible forum on cruise critic.   Someone said that in the U.S. you can use an accessible taxi for the same rate as a regular taxi (laws that protect handicap people).    You tell the dispatch person at the airport you need an accessible cab and they will get you one for the same price as a regular taxi.   Your Mom can drive her scooter into the taxi.

  2. Hello!

I have been browsing for a link that shows recommendations for hotels in MIA, as well as transportation from FLL to  MIA.  A hotel that offers a Fly and Cruise type package would be great. Likely can’t Uber Bc my mom uses a motorized wheelchair.

    Thank you!!

  3. We are traveling in September with 7 and 9 year old daughters. We are leaning toward renting a room at Baha Mar. I’ve visited Blue Lagoon - years ago. Which do you l prefer? We want a calm, beautiful beach.

  4. We got a room at Baha Mar next year for around $225 with fees. Probably just depends on time of year. If you want the best beach/pool, it'll be Baha Mar by a long shot. Especially their blue hole pool with the jumping rocks and cave with shark tank. I imagine your kids would go nuts there. Melia will be less spectacular but it's the same beach and still very nice pools - and cheaper. Blue Lagoon has no pools. The beaches should be calm at all 3 locations you asked about.

Thank you! I just checked and it will be 225 for us as well! When is your cruise? We are sailing in September

  5. Hello,

We are trying to decide between Melia, Blue Lagoon, and now Baha Mar. I read that Baha Mar doesn't offer day passes, but you can rent a room for the day. Our ship will be there 10-5.

We don't want to do a ship excursion. Have two kids 6 and 8 - looking for calm ocean water, nice pool and a relaxing time.

What do you recommend between these three options? We did Melia when it was Sheraton and enjoyed it a few years ago. TIA!

  6. Thanks for the tips. This will be the girls' 4th cruise and both can swim. Of course we will be in the water with them at all times - we also take puddle jumper style life vests in case the water is tough. Thanks for the sunscreen tip - we usually reapply hourly, but sounds like we may need a little more in Aruba!

  7. Hello! I love reading the reviews and pointers on this board. We are cruising with our 4 and 6 year olds in March and are looking for a beach day.

We dock at 1 pm, and are looking for a beach that is suitable for young kiddos (shallow entry, sandy and not a lot of waves). If I am reading correctly - Palm and Eagle are our best bets, correct? We only need restrooms, snacks and a couple lounge chairs. Would like to play 3-4 hours then grab dinner and maybe something fun until later in the evening. Thanks!

  8. Looking for recommendations for nice beach day with my 3 and 5 year olds. Wanted to do cavetubing but when I showed the girls they were scared. Considering Starfish island but the reviews are mixed. We are with Carnival and there are 3 ships in port. Thank you!

  9. Hi-I just tried reserving the Dolphin Encounter on a website recommended here on CC. When they realized I am cruising with Carnival they were unable to assist me--stating they have a contract with Carnival that prohibits them from booking for me, and I have to book directly with Carnival. I am considering calling them again and telling them I am staying in a local hotel. Think that would work? We plan to take a taxi from the port. We have a 3 and 5 year old. Thanks!!
