  1. I've booked a 6 day Caribbean itinerary on the Freedom of the Seas. Trying to decide when I want to book a Steakhouse Dinner. Can someone tell me when formal nights generaly are, on a 6 day sailing? Are there more than one?

Additionally, my grandson wants to know if there are any complimentary venues that serve chicken wings. It's my understanding that they are available for a charge at the Sports Bar and for a delivery fee from room service... but I'm hoping they have some available without an addition charge somewhere.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I just booked a Royal Caribbean cruise departing from Ft. Lauderdale, and now I am concerned. From poking around in the boards I get the impression that cruisers more often, fly into Miami and find some variety of transportation to the port rather than fly directly to Ft. Lauderdale and stay there before hand. Is this the norm? I am flying from Washington State and most flights into the Miami/Ft Lauderdale area arrive late at night. Generally I fly in the day before embarkation and stay in a hotel. I'm starting to worry that this wont be quite as smooth as it usually is. Any suggestions on how best to plan for a Ft. Lauderdale departure? Any information is greatly appreciated (I worry until I step onboard).

Curious what type of things you anticipated being availability for an 8-year-old on a Caribbean island? We travelled many many times with our children - as young as 3 - to the Caribbean, and beach and sightseeing were pretty much it.  With Covid and kids not yet being vaccinated, many families are forgoing cruising, I would think that a more

adult- themed book of tours is to be expected for now.

Well, my previous cruise (which I've rescheduled for next year, due to Covid restrictions) included excursions for a dolphin encounter, rescuing sea turtles, and swimming with rays....all of which I think my 8 year old would love. These are just the ones I settled on, I had several choices at each port....so yes, there is more to do on a  Caribbean island than the beach and sightseeing...there just isn't on this particular island. Don't worry though, I switched itineraries.

  4. I just had to change my Royal Caribbean cruise for October this year to a different itinerary next year that includes St. Maarten. Unfortunately I wasn't able to look at the excursions available before booking and upon looking for possible excursions, I see none that are geared towards families with kids. I'm very disappointed by this, is it possible they don't have all options posted yet? Anyone have any ideas what I can do with an 8 year old in St. Maarten. I'm scared to see what is available in San Juan, nothing is listed for it yet.

  5. It's been a while since I have reserved a table at the specialty dining. Can someone tell me how long it should take to receive confirmation? I received confirmation from one restaurant right away but haven't heard from the other, and am worried my request may not have gone through.

Is the FTTF option worth the money? This is new one to me, it wasn't an option on my last cruise.

  6. I am planning on booking a cruise for next fall shortly. Generally I purchase a standard insurance package, but this time I have a traveling companion that requires specific coverage. In a nutshell, she has ailing in-laws. Is it possible to get insurance that would cover both trip cacellation and return home travel expenses, in the event of a medical emergency/death of family members (most specifically her in-laws)? How do I go about ensuring that these are covered?

Does anyone have any specific companies to recommend?

    Thanks for your time.

  7. Jerk pork! Our waiter was from Jamaica and suggested I get it. I had a really hard time eating it but didn't want him to feel bad by saying I didn't like it - he went on and on about how good it was and it was something he always had at home.

I agree with this one. The jerk pork loin I had in Carnival Triumph's dining room was just horrible, this one I couldn't gag down. I had other dishes that were just so-so, and some really good ones, but this wasn't one of them.
