  1. Hi Everyone,

I arranged for a group of 100 ppl to go to LFK on 2/19/14. Our friends were doing a vow renewal, so this excursion quickly grew from a mid size to large group. I worked directly with the owner, Larissa who was a pleasure. LFK is limited to 250 ppl and is truly big enough. Of our group, I don't remember seeing more then 20 ppl at any one time. That's how spread out it is. The CCL excursion is only 3 hours and I'd be surprised if she kept working with them. It doesn't seem like the type of place that would want to cater to CCL.

LFK is absolutely gorgeous. There's plenty of room for everyone. There's a platform 15 ft up that allows for ppl to take jumps off of if they're courageous enough:) I was NOT and didn't regret it :o The depth is also about 15 ft. There are chairs and another small bar up there also.

Larissa and her family live on LFK, so they take a lot of pride in the premises. I would go back again and this time maybe take the plunge...maybe...

On a side note...the LFK busses pick you up outside the cruise terminal. It can be a long walk if you're mobility impaired or really, really, out of shape and shleping your beach stuff. You'll make it, but I just wanted to warn you. Probably not a bad idea to leave the ship with some water. You won't regret this excursion!

  2. NCTribeFan the 60 euros is for however many you can fit into a car. We fit all 4 of us very comfortably. If you don't want to do a ship excursion (I'm with you there) and you don't want to pay the taxi rate, you can easily spend 3-4 hours walking around the city. There are tour ambassadors wearing red vests and red hats as soon as you walk off the pier. They will have maps and can describe where to go to see different things in the city. We walked around for 3-4 hours with our 2 little girls and saw many things, but not even half of what was on the map. We saw the cathedral and walked around inside, a school, the library (go inside it is very beautiful), the spice market (again very interesting), the savanne, the 'local' beach, and fort st. louis (which you can't go inside or near). There are many other things marked on the map and it is pretty easy to navigate the city. There were also several tourist ambassadors wearing the same red cap and red vest in the city to help with directions as well.

Martinique is just a very different port than most of the others in the Southern Caribbean. I wouldn't have felt comfortable taking a local bus, because my French speaking skills are non-existent and we have two little children (they are more demanding/impatient than an adult). I also don't have a strong sense of adventure and get stressed out about making it back to the boat before all-aboard time. But if you did have someone in your roll-call group who was fluent or even semi-fluent you could have a great time!

Thanks so much for this info:) I'm on the same cruise as NCTribeFan, so this sounds perfect to me. It's also good to know that we'll need euros.

  3. It's my understanding that EVERY cabin was refurbished. I will be in a room very close to that one very soon!

Apparently, only some of the rooms on Lido were. The refurbished ones would at least have fridges in them. That's not to say that the others weren't "glammed up" a bit!

  4. OP - I too think that the time frame is to close to your cruise, but as already mentioned everyone is different. The other consideration is that you're "assuming" that everything will go wonderfully. Unforfortunately, ship happens so be prepared.

Also, an ortho that wants to do 2 knees at once is crazy! Get a 2nd opinion.

    Good luck:)

  5. I am looking at pics of everything before our cruise.

I see the Conquest is due to dock at the Puerta Maya Pier in Cozumel. Looking at pictures their is a long building on the pier between the ships and land.

    What is in this building?

Mostly booze .. some candy and stuff to eat.. but its mostly booze. Some nice booze though. some trinkets too.

The building is probably 1/2 alcohol (you can ask for samples too!), candy, fragrences, make-up, shirts, etc. It's a much larger version of the gift shops on the ship.

  6. Hi GP

I am going to try this myself. Question - does the $100 OBC (7 day cruise) stay assigned to each cabin - so when you switch everybody is good...or does Carnival split the OBC so each person is assigned $50 OBC?. I know it doesn't make a difference but we are also getting $75 OBC from TA for each cabin and just want to make sure everything is aok. Just curious to your experience.

    Thanks!

The FCC's will be split between the 2 ppl. IMO it's ridiculous that they can't assign it to the person who booked the cabin.

  7. Excellent news. That means the spa steam rooms are free!!! You only have to pay to use T-pool and the hot lounge chairs.

    No, that's not correct.

Tiggerman stated that the steam room next to the gym was small and they're free.

The steam and sauna rooms, hot loungers, etc., are behind locked doors on the spa deck. This is the area that you need a pass for.

  8. Glory 2217 was a very nice cabin, especially for one. I had been warned that there could be noise, but I really didn't expect the noise to be what it was. I thought maybe some "slapping" against the hull. Instead, especially on Thursday night when we left Bermuda and were booking it home, it was like someone beneath my cabin had slammed a heavy iron door. It was VERY loud, and then you got a side-to-side shudder. The other nights, it happened only a couple of times (at least I only woke up a couple of times), but that one night it was really bad.

I was in this cabin on the Splendor and we had 2 nights of the hull crashing. It was loud, but I was so tired, that I was able to sleep through it:D Now when you dock...that's noisey 1st thing in the AM!

I'll still pick these cabins over any other 1A:)

  9. Thanks for the info! Sounds great! We had that same type of key card lighting on the Epic a couple weeks ago but they left a "dummy" card in it the whole week so it kind of defeated the purpose

Wonder what the water was from?? Washing the upper deck??

Not sure about the water...I meant to ask the stewards, but kept forgetting. The water was never soapy and the balcony never had any residue, so not sure.

Just to share...for the 1st time I brought a battery candle, they also sell tea lights, to keep on in the bathroom. It was so much better then either turning on the light or having to feel your way around.

    Enjoy:)

  10. We are looking at booking 12023 for our family of four in January...anything specific you can tell me about the cabin? Seems like a good location. Also, will my wife be able to take our daughter with her to the spa? I can't find any info on whether the spa priveledges are just for the first 2 in the room or if they even allow under 18 in the spa? Thanks

We were in this room a couple weeks ago. LOVED IT:) Very quiet and conveniet to Lido. We walked up/down whenever we ate in the morning or afternoon. Our room stewards, Inna and Marek were the best I've ever had. The only "wierd" thing we found was that at night when we'd prop the balcony door open, there'd be a big gush of water coming over the top railing onto the balcony. I have no idea where the water came from, because it wasn't raining:eek: It wasn't every night, but when it happene it was at about 4:00 - 4:30 AM.

The Spa is only for the 1st 2 guests and I know there's an age requirement, but don't know what it is. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 18, due to the nature of the spa being a more "quiet" place and also due to unmonitored access to the steam, sauna and thelessapy pool.

A new thing on this ship, tho probably mentioned already, was that to have the lights on, someone's key card needs to be in the "light switch" on the wall, for lack of a better name. Good idea, just took some getting used to.

The Magic is a beautiful ship and the staff was wonderful. I hope that you and you family enjoy it as much as we did.

  11. Just did the Chef's table on the Magic. Chef Daniel was great.

The entire event was "priceless" I recommend it to all "foodies" out there.

We ate in the galley, and felt like judges on "iron chef". We did get the picture and the cookbook book.

This is the new menu? Curious to know much more about it.

I'd be curious about the new menu on the Magic too. I had cancelled our reservations.
