  1. Thank you, good to know. Since we're going in early August I'm hoping it will be warm and we can wear shorts during the day. Bringing jeans in case it's cool in the evenings. Just not sure about wearing jeans to dinner. Feels weird to do thank since it is nice dining.

Do they take photos on the boats? We always buy at least one.

  2. We're on AMAPrima in August. Never been to Europe or on a river cruise. Trying to decide what kind of clothes to pack. In pictures I've seen people seem to dress pretty conservatively while in the towns. Dresses\slacks - nicely dressed for dinner. What about jeans are they acceptable in town or at dinner?

We have only been on cruise ships in the Caribbean and people are very very casual. I don't get the feeling that the European river boat cruises are like that. We're in our early 50's and I get the feeling that a lot of the people that do these trips are in that age group and older.

Any helpful hits or ideas would be very much appreciated

  3. Read on our Roll call that even with insurance someone is having trouble working with the travel insurance. How hard are they normally to deal with if you have a family emergency or death come up? Our Only issue is my brother, who is Not traveling with us. If he gets the call for a transplant I don't want to leave my mom there all by herself dealing with it. Maybe even a situation like that isn't covered since it is not a death and they could say I don't have to actually be there.

I called Carnival and they are expensive.. $189 PP for our trip. No wonder people don't use them.

  4. We are going to the southern Caribbean. No airfare involved as we are driving. My main concern is for cancelation as I have a family member on the transplant list and would like to cancel if it comes up right before the cruise. We currently do not have any insurance.

  5. I've been checking and checking for FTTF to open up for our cruise in Feb. Finally today it do. Sure hope it is worth it. We have an Ocean suite but unlike NCL, Carnival doesn't do anything special but priority check in for suites. Glad it finally opened up.

  6. We are considering just getting some Euro's and walking around Martinique. We want to try local French foods, wine and coffee. Any recommendations on places to try? Is the coffee there worth buying to bring to bring home? How much $$ should we look to bring, $100 euros or more? Just want to get a good feel of the culture and what they have to offer.

  7. Does anyone understand Carnivals policy on finding a lower price? We booked a few weeks ago and I just checked their site and they have a early saver last call for $1009 was able to even pick a room next to what we have. We paid $1029. When I called to get the lower price they said that they could find a lower price than what we had even though the agent from Carnival, who was not helpful or knowledgable, said she talked directly to Carnival and they couldn't find a lower rate to give us. I don't understand the policy. Does anyone out there get this?

  8. In more than 10 years of cruising various p0rts in the world and traveling others parts of the world, sometimes extended stays of several weeks in both Europe and Australia when doing land travels, we've never notified our credit card company. We've never had a problem with them putting a hold on our account because of a charge from another country.

Last year we went to Mexico... We didn't inform Capital One... They put a hold on our card and we couldn't use it. We had 4 calls from them on our answering machine when we got home. They thought the card had been stolen. Needless to say.. We will call them this time around!

  9. Good luck getting an answer. I tried to find out the same information and didn't really find anyone out there that could help. We going on Aug 27 on the POH. We are doing the Discover Jungle Falls.

I did some quering on the Hawaii board and found that the Discover jungle falls didn't include as much hiking, it is more of a kayak trip, you get to swim in the falls and it includes lunch. The Hidden Falls has more hiking, no swimming in the falls, only stop for pictures, it does not include lunch only a snack and it costs a little more.

    I hope that helps :)
