  1. About a month ago, we did the New England / Canada cruise aboard the Grandeur of the Seas. We initially purchased a 3 day dinner specialty restraint package and once on board the ship, the ships staff was selling 5 day dinner package which we upgraded to at a great price.  My question is thus far, on the December Australia Sailing on the Voyager of the Seas, we haven't seen any discounted specialty dining packages, except for the entire length of the cruise.  Do they have a 5 or 6 day option for the specialty dining package, or do they offer a discount package once on the ship.  Thank you for your input.

P.S. never been on a cruise before over New Years. Does the crowd onboard the ship really " get into it" as the countdown commences for the new year, and are there parties all over the ship.

  2. We just got off the Allure of the Seas on August 12 and had a lot of fun. We decided to treat our selves by staying in the Owner Suit. All I can say is " Oh my god, what a beautiful suite". Really enjoyed the Suite Lounge on Deck 14, used it a few times for dinner, and just relaxing and having a few drinks.

We decided to book our next cruise on the Explorer of the seas sailing out of Sydney on December 29, again staying in the Owners Suite.

We are currently Emerald with 66 points, 14 points away from Diamond. Started to think about booking a in between cruise on the Harmony of the seas November 18 cruise in the Junior Suit. That ship sales for 7 nights, with double points for being booked in a Jr. suite will give us the magical number of 80 points, Diamond Status for the Sydney cruise. My thoughts are that we would be able to enjoy both diamond as well as Suite perks such as Suite Lounge on deck 9, as well as the Diamond Club, not to mention the other perks that diamond status will give us. Big questions, is it worth paying the $2700.00 and change for the Caribbean in between cruise to get these perks.

Thank you for giving your opinions.

  3. Wife, and our 4 adult children (4 cabins in all) just got off the Caribbean Princess 12 day United Kingdom cruise and used walkie Talkies for communication through out the ship with no problems at all, in fact, we were the only people on the radios. We had rented 8 UHF Walkie Talkies and 2 repeaters which we used in 2 of the farthest apart cabins. It was great. We also had the optional microphones with ear pieces, so passengers could only hear us talking, quietly. We had Chanel's assigned by the room so that if our kids needed my wife or I, they would switch to our channel, and if we needed our kids, we would do likewise.

  4. Hello to all, we are with a group of 10 people on the explorer of the seas out of Seattle. Sail date July 8. We bought the 32 mile range gmr / fsr radios. I know that the miles is a over kill, but wanted to make sure we had enough power with all the steel of the ship. Hopefully, they work out for us. One of our prior cruises on the Grandeur of the Seas, we used lower power walkie talkies and were disappointed. We will have to see if the increased power output helps out or not. Take care and happy cruising.

  5. Hello to all, Wife and I are on the July 8 Cruise RCCL Explorer of the sea which leaves pier 91.

We live locally but don't want to pay the parking fees at the Pier, so will put the car in employee parking at SeaTac Airport and take Shuttle Express to the Pier. They charge $22.00 per person each way, and also have a package deal from SeaTac to local hotels, then onto the Pier for cruise the next day. There is a extra charge for this. Here is their website for anybody who wants more information. Happy Cruising.
