FYI, I did a wine tasting with a sommelier on a RCL cruise in 2019.  Run by RCL.

Are you talking about Chef's Table? The dinner with wine? RCI says in their letter about this mix-up that they don't have so sommeliers, which has been our experience. They do have a few waiters who really know wine.

  2. If you search on this website, under Celebrity Cruises, you will find multiple threads for Premier Pass. It WAS a Celebrity Cruises package. The threads date back to 2021, where the package was discontinued (probably because of the pandemic).

    This thread

, entry #3, lists the details of the Premier Pass, in 2021. It is the same as what was mistakenly listed on RC.

Additionally, this webpage https://preview.aem.celebritycruises.com/int/things-to-do-onboard/onboard-packages/premier-pass, lists the Premier Pass on Celebrity. It is incomplete and doesn't work correctly. Perhaps because the IT people at RCG put it in the wrong website?

I, too, purchased the Premier Pass on RC this weekend ... on 4 cruises. We were VERY happy.

Although I don't like how this has played out, it is clear that it was a mistake. Celebrity DID HAVE a Premier Pass. Celebrity IS TRYING to bring it back. RC hasn't had one in the past, and probably won't in the future.

In fact, I'm not familiar with RC EVER having a wine pairing with a sommelier. I don't think they even have sommeliers. I have been to wine pairings on Celebrity. Although we were confused about the availability on RC, we were thrilled about the possiblity.

So, oops to the IT person/people who did this. I'm going to enjoy a bottle of Veuve Clicquot on my next RC cruise ... I'll just be paying for it. 🙂

  3. Sometimes, Royal Caribbean does things in an order that causes confusion. In this instance, the OP received notification of the cruise cancellation and tried the same day to book a GS on the new cruise from Miami. No GS available. Sometime later, RCI added all the rooms for the cruise and voila GS are now available.

I’ve just checked for this cruise and there are now 14 GS available. Perhaps, if the OP isn’t TRULLY against RCI, they could go look at this cruise again and find a nice GS.

    Good luck.

(This happened to me when Harmony was swapped out for Wonder at Port Canaveral. It took RCI a good month after they notified me of the change to make all the suites available. But eventually, there were many from which to choose.)

  4. No, the TA is incorrect. From the RCL website:

    • All guests traveling in the same stateroom are eligible to receive the military rate. No additional staterooms, other than the one that is occupied by the military person is eligible for the military rate. Spouses, parents, in-laws, children or other family members or friends are not eligible for the military rate without the eligible military person occupying the stateroom.

True. I’m going to see if some of Princess’s older ships still dock there.
Just one more time is all I ask.

From the internet I learned that Havensight is a nickname for the "West Indian Company Dock". Searching for that name, I found this website http://wico-ltd.com/cruise-ship-dock/ship-schedule-port-availability which has PDFs for the cruise ships schedule into St. Thomas. In the PDF, look for the location WICO.

October shows 4 ships in the WICO port (Norwegian Gem, Carnival Freedom and Magic, and Viking Orion).
