  1. Zadar is actually a very nice small port. It does not have a lot of see compared with other ports such as Dubrovnik. However, you will have some wonderful time there.

In addition to suggestions by cruisemom42, there are also ruins (with Venetian lion symbol). My favorite site of Zadar is the Sea Organ at waterfront. The Sea Organ consists of many organ pipes "powered" by the sea waves. There are stairs for you to sit down, watch the sea, and listen to the fantastic music. It is truly amazing.

Zadar also has many excellent restaurants. We had a wonderful dinner there with delicious seafood and pasta.

I've seen the Sea Organ on Utube. Is the Sea Organ within walking distance of where the ship docks?

  2. does your hotel have a dock? if not, be mindful of how far you might need to walk with your luggage. A private water taxi will cost about 110E.

And the airport pier itself will require a walk; 7-10 minutes. Directions to reach the water taxis and aliluguna below:

Hi Mapleleaves, Was the price for the private water taxi per person? If not, how many people were in your group? I appreciate any information you can give. Thanks!:)

  3. I'm also looking for options to park and cruise. Have looked at Raddison and CI & S (have stayed there several times). What opinions do you locals have of the Hampton Inn at 3425 N Atlantic Avenue. Not familiar with, but they do have a stay/park/cruise pkg with breakfast and shuttles. Advice please.

We stayed there last September. The rooms were clean but you had to go outside to get to your room....which I was not crazy about. Breakfast was not good but the Transportation to the Port & back were fantastic!

  4. Will be sailing on The Oasis in March. Looking for comments from anyone who recently stayed at The Hampton Inn (Stirling Rd location near FLL). We usually stay at the Springhill Suites across the road but the rate is much better at the Hampton. Tripadvisor reviews are so-so. Not looking for a resort but like a clean hotel. We have a rental car so shuttle not important. We like a warm clean pool. We like the Stirling Rd area as our favourite restaurant is near by. Anyone stayed recently at this Hampton Inn to give us an uptodate review? Thanks.

We stayed there May 2013 and were very pleased. The room was clean, great Continental breakfast, free transportation to Port Everglades and close to restaurants. I'd stay there again.

  5. The smart cruiser always flies in at least one day early - do not let weather delays and flight cancellations ruin your cruise. ;)

You can do better than Carnival transfers. From MIA to Port of Miami (POM) a cab is best - flat rate of $24+tip for the cab and the ride takes about 15 minutes.

From POM to FLL takes about 40 minutes and many on these boards suggest SAS (www.ridesas.com) for shuttle service for about $15 per person. By comparison a taxi from POM to FLL will cost about $95

    Good luck! :)

I went to the suggested flight & LOVE the information. I want to drive to Ft Lauderdale a day early(Spend the night at La Quinta Inn (Hollywood)...take a flight the next day to Rome from Miami for a Westbound Transatlantic. Would spend 2 days in Rome before joining the ship. The ship ends the cruise at Ft Lauderdale.

SAS Transportation will take you for $15 each way. That's money well spent & worth every dollar in my opinion. Check out their website, I think you'll agree:)
