  1. Post 1 has the link to Carnival's information.

You'll need the Death Certificate, Cremation Certificate, and the ashes need to be in a biodegradable container. There are a few other things that are restricted.

We went to Guest Services the first night after the crowds had lessened. No need to contact Carnival ahead of time.

  2. Your cabin will be available to you after 1-1:30. Lots of luggage space under the beds.

We scattered cremains last October for a mother and son.

Cremains have to be carried on. We had both in a rolling suitcase. Only issue was the security X-ray gal hadn't seen them before.

Once onboard, see Guest Services. Make sure you have the proper paperwork. We were contacted quickly with the time of the scattering. They try to do this the first sea day, ours was postponed a few days due to weather and sea conditions.

At the appointed time we met back at Guest Services and escorted to the back of the ship by Purser, Security and Environmental officers. We were allowed as much time as needed. A friend took pictures. A few days later we were given a ship's certificate with the coordinates of where the cremains were scattered.

We used something like this https://www.inthelighturns.com/peaceful-pillow-urns.html. It was easy to use, no need to open it up.

We had booked a cruise in May 2015 for a cruise in June, 2016. In June 2015 we found out my husband had bile duct cancer. He was so looking forward to going his 11th cruise with Carnival. He passed away in April 2016 so we postponed our cruise til June 2017. He loved to cruise. I would so love to scatter some of his ashes in the ocean. My question is, do you have to contact Carnival before the cruise or once you get on the ship just go to Guest Services? Obviously we will need a death certificate, but what else will we need, if anything else?

  3. We weren't actually bumped. We had booked an aft wrap on the Victory originally with my daughter in the room with us. Ended up she couldn't go, so we took her off the booking and they wouldn't let us stay in the aft wrap because it would hold 3 people. It's funny though, in 2009 we were on the Victory in that same aft wrap and no problem at all letting us book it.

I think it depends on who you have to deal with at Carnival.

  5. They also gave us a little pamphlet with some interesting facts and a recipe for warm chocolate melting cake on the back!

Here are the photos that were delivered to my room that night (they are included in the price of the tour):

    Great review! Love the pics.

You're probably going to think this is a strange question but, when you were up on the bridge was there a drawing of the Liberty hanging anywhere?

When I was on the Liberty back in Oct 2012 I presented Captain Barrile a drawing of the Liberty for a young man from England named Harry Cotterill. Harry has drawn the Dream and Freedom and I will be delivering one of the Victory in few weeks for him. His drawings are amazing.

  6. Hi again, would you chose the port side or starboard?

When we did the Victory out of San Juan the starboard side was the best side to be on. Most of the time we were docked on the port side. That doesn't make much since, does it? What I'm trying to say is, that we could watch the pier runners most of the time. :D

  7. Just found your review. Great review!

We were getting on the ship when you got off. We did the Western itinerary. Loved it so much we're doing it again in Oct 2012. The kids are going with us this time around.

I think we might try the Embassy Suites this time. It looks cool. We stayed at the Springhill Suites last time, and I wasn't that impressed with them.

  8. thanks. i'll pay to skip baggage check anyday. i've got a 10am return flight and i'm sweating that i wont make it.

We had a 11:50AM flight and we were at the airport by 8:30. Make sure you let the pursors desk know you have an early flight and you'll be one of the first off the ship.

  9. does the victory offer that deal where they pick up your bags on the last night and take them to the airport? am i correct in understanding that you never see your bags again until you get to your final destination? ( atlanta, in my case ).

They do have the luggage express. You have to get your bags in the terminal then take them outside to the truck...you don't see them again until you get to your final destination. It's well worth it.

  10. You can see them removing the partition of 8466 in one of those pics!:)

(still glad I switched, tho...pretty tiny room)

And I saw the room I switched to - 6492, so now I am a happy camper, er, cruiser!

A sofa! And I love the balcony!

We switched from 8466 to 6492...I'm glad we switched too. :)

  11. Meant to add:

We are so excited about this cruise and we're counting the days. Our daughters have the two aft cabins beside our aft wrap so we'll have a lot of balcony to sit on and enjoy!

Don't know if you have ever had a aft wrap before...but it is AWESOME.
