  1. OMG adavidw!!! Were you in The Top Sail Lounge Saturday(disembarkation day) morning having breakfast?? If so,,we always saw you up at the One Bar,,,I was the guy always carrying around a camera with that big lens on it,,,

Yeah, that was probably us. I also saw in your post that you had cabana 1. We had Cabana 2, so our paths were probably crossing more than a few times.

  2. I believe your were on a different ship, not on the Divina?

I am just telling what was on our cruise on the Divina.

I was on the Divina last week and took this tour. We saw way more than just cold storage in the galley. It was all along the lines of what Kat said.

  3. Thanks for taking the time to write your review!

Can you tell me what was on the kids menu at LeMuse?

    Thanks!

I'm not the original poster, but I was on Divina last week in the Yacht Club. Le Muse had a different kids menu each night, with some items offered every night, like hamburgers and hot dogs, and some only offered that night, like "nachos" one night or calamari one night. There was a pasta dish that changed daily. My kids (8 & 10) ordered from the kids menu about half the time, and the regular menu the other half.

I put "nachos" in quotes, because when my son ordered it, he got a dish with four tortilla chips in it. When we pointed out to the waiter that it was supposed to have cheese, he first checked the menu to verify that it said "cheese sauce" (it did), and then brought out a giant boat of a white béchamel and cheese sauce, enough for three plates worth of nachos. Italians just don't have the same familiarity with Nachos that those of us from the American southwest do, I guess.

  4. Mike, can you please find out the butler for 15029 and if they will be there in November? Thanks a lot.

My in-laws were in 15029 last week, and their butler's name was Putra (sp?). I don't have any idea if he'd still be there in November, but they said he was awesome, just came out of nowhere anytime they'd even think of needing someone.

On the opposite end, if anyone has 12001 booked, the butler for that room, Rai, leaves much to be desired. On top of that, the room still has a few unresolved plumbing problems and a shower that leaks a lot. Hopefully they can fix it soon.

  5. I'm taking a couple of smokers on a Divina cruise next month. As far as I'm concerned, I'd be happy if the only designated smoking area was on a barge being towed behind the ship, but they might feel differently. So, I'm trying to gather information to tell them what to prepare for.

I know smoking's only allowed in the Cigar Lounge and the "port side of designated outdoor decks". We're in the Yacht Club, so I'm wondering if the One Pool area is a "designated outdoor deck", or if they have to leave the Yacht Club to smoke. I'm sure they'd prefer to just pop up one deck instead of having to walk down to the regular pool (and mingle with the Hoi Polloi - Horrors!)

Anyone have an answer of which decks are the "designated outdoor decks"?

  6. That picture right there represents the whole reason why I booked my next cruise on MSC. I was hoping that by booking an Italian line, I'd be able to load up a plate with all the "raw bacon" I could find. I'm so happy to see your picture and see what I'm in for on my upcoming cruise.

    I can't wait!

  7. I think it might differ based on what region or country you've booked in. Some cruise lines might also have a different policy for suites vs. regular cabins, or holiday cruises vs. the rest of the year.

As an anecdotal data point, I'm booked through a US travel agent, and I'm in the Yacht Club, and I just had final payment due two days ago for my Aug 23rd Divina cruise. That's 85 days out. However, I think that might have just been my TA wanting to get the payment made early so they don't hassle with any declined cards or anything at the last minute.

The MSC USA terms and conditions says 75 days: http://www.msccruisesusa.com/us_en/Terms-And-Conditions.aspx

  8. Thanks. Did a pretend booking for 3 adults, and as you said, these cabins are coming up as available. Not too happy. As I said already did call my TA and asked, they in turn asked MSC who sent an email back (I have a copy) saying that they were not available. Wonder why that is. These cabins can be occupied by just 2 people I gather? ?

I think a call to the TA in the morning would be a good idea. If MSC are not willing to give this cabin to a TA not sure what else to do - any suggestions? ?

I would suggest booking a third person to make the room available, then call back later to tell them "uh, that third person can't actually make it. Let's go ahead and take them off the reservation" while keeping the same room.

I think such shenanigans shouldn't be required. I do think it's nice that they're trying to save the bigger rooms for bigger parties who would certainly appreciate the extra space, but we're actually getting pretty close to the sailing date here. Time to open those things up.

Note: If you do try my suggestion you could give them a fake name as the third person. However, I'd prefer you just give them my name. That way if you forget to call back and cancel the third person and inadvertently pay an extra cruise fare, at least I'd be able to help you by making sure that the extra cruise fare wouldn't go to waste!

  9. I did call my TA to ask for one of these, they in turn called MSC and apparently they said they were all booked.

Either the TA or MSC might be misinformed, or someone might even be deliberately misinforming people. Those cabins (15029 & 15031) show as available on a variety of online sites. MSC themselves don't show them available on their own website, but they just show the first 4 staterooms available in a category, so there's no way of telling on the MSC site if an individual stateroom is open or not.

So, either they are sold but MSC hasn't marked them to show out of inventory for the systems that connect to MSC (which would cause problems for the poor sucker who ends up booking that cabin on one of those sites). Or, they aren't sold and MSC and/or your TA are just being dumb about figuring that out. Or, they are available, but there's a deliberate decision by MSC to only make them available to the US market and not the UK market or not to B2B or something strange like that.

Here's a couple of screenshots from 5 minutes ago. I can't post a direct link to the site, but this was the online travel agency whose name kind of is a variation on the word "expedient".

And here's another from a German site that helps you "scan" the "sea". It shows a different set of cabins, but shows them both as available for the B2B. The key seem to be that the online sites won't show these unless you're booking 3+ people, but a good TA should be able to get around that by contacting MSC directly (assuming these are actually available).

  10. Hi guys

I've been offered cabin 15026 or 15022. I'd haved liked on of the squarer cabins, but these are all gone.

15029 and 15031 are both square cabins, and they are both unbooked for both weeks of your b2b. You may want to check with your travel agent and see if they can get one of those. It's possible they aren't seeing them as available since they sleep 4 and you may only be searching for a cabin for two. However, when I tried to book one of the square ones recently, I had no trouble just having the travel agent call and request the square room I wanted.

  11. The balcony has a ceiling on it, if that's what you're asking. Deck 13 above doesn't stick out any farther than deck 12, but deck 14 sticks out a lot farther, leaving a shadow that will extend down to deck 12 sometimes.

  12. Ship: Silhouette

    Cabin #: 1401

    Deck #: 10

    Class: C3

    Area: Portside Aft

    Bed near: Balcony

Quiet?: Yes. One night when the ship was really rocking I heard what appeared to be someone in the cabin above falling out of bed. Other than that, not a shred of noise from any direction. There was a door to a crew area right across the hall, but I never heard anyone going in or out as long as my door was closed.

Balcony view: Good. On Silhouette, 1401 is the second farthest aft cabin on the port side. It's next door neighbor, 1403, which is the farthest aft cabin, has a larger balcony that obstructs a few degrees of your view to the aft, but nothing really big. No obstructions up or down or forward or out.

    Balcony size: Standard

Wind a problem?: Not at all

Soot a problem?: Not at all

Problems/comments: There was some sort of burned/melted spot right in the middle of the carpet that I was guaranteed to step on every time I walked through in bare feet. It's not really visible, but it feels like stepping on gnarled hard plastic, like someone left a Lego on the carpet for you to step on. It's a tiny thing, but it was sort of disappointing since the ship is so new. I let guest relations know, so I would hope they replace that carpet at some point, but if you're sailing any time soon, I'm guessing it will still be there.
