  1. Thank you for this! I was finally able to book my MIL (who's in an inside single) with us for 360 Over the Christmas week. I was worried she would not get in with the rest of us (we are all in suites and booked by phone a month or more ago). I had not noticed it before in the bookings and I usually check every few weeks for dinner openings.

  2. I just wanted to add a word of warning. We just did a shirt 4 night cruise and while I booked 2 nights ahead of time on the app, I thought, oh well I will get the Concierge to help with the first night (first night specialty is no longer free on short voyages either) and the last night. All restaurants were fully booked. He even called the manager of Crown grill for us,  Nothing. We finally, at the last minute, got into Sabatinis the first night, and not until 9 the last night in Crown Grill. Lesson learned book ahead for the times you want and get the adjustment later (if it doesn't auto adjust)

The restaurants weren't full either I think they are short staffed and less tables are being offered which adds to the availability problem.

Do you know if they did any 360 dinners during that cruise?

Yes! We attended on the 3rd night of the cruise.  They were still inviting people that morning during our suite breakfast in Sabatini's as well. If you do go, just be sure to be early. The restaurant Manger was very vocal about her annoyance with late arriving guests.

Does anyone have any advice if we hope to book loungers in Sanctuary on the Discovery Princess?

We were just on discovery a week ago and we just went straight up to 18 as soon as we boarded to book. The weather was not very warm so it was not super busy every day, but there was definitely a few days it was sold out for loungers. We had a cabana every day and those didn't seem to be full any day.

This makes me happy to know that it was offered on a short sailing. Fingers are crossed that it is also offered during a themed cruise.

It was offered during the 4 night 80s cruise earlier this month. We went!

For those who have sailed on the 4 day 80s themed cruise, Is there a formal night at all?

I'm also guessing with all the tribute bands they'll have onboard, I'm guessing there's no shows from the princess singers and dancers?

We just did the 80s cruise and there was no formal nights. It seemed every night some would be dressed 80s and some regular nice casual.

We didn't see any of the shows so I can't comment on that. If I figure out where I put all the patters I will check and get back to you. 🙂 it was a great cruise.

Was it area code 661, Santa Clarita?

It was a 661 number when we got called this month. It did come up as Princess Crusies on caller ID too. It was only a 4 day and they were still inviting people on the morning of day 3 during suite breakfast.

  8. Hello,

We were on the same cruise with you! It was a great week despite the rain. We were on deck 9, 10, and 11 in forward suites. I have to agree the forward elevators were always crowded. We were at the same lumberjack show with you. I agree, its a little cheesy but a lot of fun. I would recommend booking it on the website vs. through the ship unless you are trying to use your shore ex. credits as it is cheaper to book direct. Super easy to pick them up at the register just before the show as well.

I only wish we made it to see the lake when we drove on our own to Canada, we drove to the sled dog camp in the afternoon and it was not crowded at all. We were the only ones in with the puppies. We turned around and headed back afterwards with plenty of time to drop off the rental car and walk around town before getting back on the ship. Town was a lot less crowded as well.

We downloaded Murray's guide for less than $10 (I believe) and he said that going in the afternoon was better to see wildlife and all of the tour buses would be gone by that time of day. He was right, less traffic and we saw a few bears along the way.

So glad you had a good time!

Great Review & Tips!  If you are in the Haven, can they assist with booking the go-carts and/or laser tag?

Yes, the concierge in the Haven can book anything that you want for you. No need to go to the social for any of those things. 🙂 even if the restaurant is showing full, they will likely (not always, but worked for us on the Bliss in July when we wanted to change last min) be able to get you in.

  10. I would go see a doctor and try to totally unget it. You never know where people have juiced their pineapples.
    Rick,

I'm going to seek immediate assistance... however, I feel like my husband and his friends would fit in well with you so I think we can remediate this quickly.

BTW your escape live was the reason I took NCL (after being a loyal royal/princess person)for my wedding cruise. Thanks it was awesome!

  11. We live in vegas and take advantage of their status matching. We dont gamble much at all but our Diamond status on RCCL gets us gold at MGM, the biggest perk is free regular and valet parking. It also includes dedicated lines for gold and above (usually) at the players club desk, check in, and the buffet. I believe you also could potentially get upgraded rooms if available. Also 15% off or so in the shops and your earn points quicker when gambling.

D+ gets you platinum status which I believe the extras are cabana rentals not available to others, check in perk, and next up valet. There are some other perks which I cant remember. We have saved a ton of money now that they charge for parking which got to be almost $50/car during hockey playoffs to park close.

Now we are more MGM loyal so I guess it's a win win for them with us.

Hopefully this helps a little bit :)

  12. trideljenn - did you get married on ship or did you get married ashore in Bermuda?

We got married off the ship in Bermuda at the Reefs Resort. It was on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The reception was also at the Resort at their open are restaurant that looks like its carved into the cliff called Coconuts. With us being there for 3 days we were able to have friends and family who were on the east coast (and other places) fly in for the wedding and still have time to spend with us on land. It also gave us time to not be rushed or the potentially for missing a port during hurricane season. It was the best of both worlds in a way. We did a great charter cruise on a boat for 3 hours the night before the wedding and everyone said it was a highlight of the trip (besides the wedding).

  13. Yep, that's the room. Miss it already. I'm assuming your butler was Dilip, who was ours. He and the staff did a wonderful job with your room decorating. That looks terrific. Regarding our "issues", he was responsive and was a gem through the cruise. I don't want to leave an impression that he was bad. I'm assuming that maybe on the aft and forward Haven locations, outside of the main Haven area, that perhaps signals may get crossed with staff responsibilities. Also assuming that most balconies on the ship don't require the attention that these gigantic aft balconies require, so maybe they slip given the long hours and hard work required of all of these incredible staff.

Oh yes I agree 100% the butler (Dilip) was great. Any time there was something wrong he was quick to answer and seemed to show up within minutes if we asked him to come down. We miss the room already for sure. The massive balcony probably does require more maintenance then others. This was our first NCL cruise and I really enjoyed it. (we are elite on princess and Diamond on RCCL). I was a bit nervous bringing 40 people on a cruise line we had never gone on before, but 3 weeks later we are already booked on Bliss later this year because we enjoyed the room (and our Butler) so much. The only issue we had was with the concierge who messed up a few reservations for us (we had comedy booked and it was on our TV as booked, but we when we showed up they did not have us on the list). I would highly recommend these rooms to others. :D

  14. We were in the same room 2 weeks before you! The cover for the balcony chairs didnt appear until the 2nd day I believe, but after that they seemed to be there every day.

To give another view on the butler question I figured I would throw this out there...The butler was very helpful and even helped to set up my room the day of our wedding at the request of my matron of honor and bridesmaid they went above and beyond that day. We have multiple room parties and the butler (same butler for my parents were in the same room on the other side) and he always delivered whatever we requested quickly. :)

I'm sorry you had some minor issues with fuh balcony, i think I was too busy to notice if we had the same issues, but glad you didn't let it ruin your trip. :) 90912381136365d47a15056fd782753d.jpg302b82c1f5859e98cf9b9edf81a076c8.jpg819d7a4b596e01c80d6e8677cc8bff36.jpg

  15. Thank you! I did hear some people on the island talking about Airbnb so I think that would be an option as well. I'm sure you'll have a great wedding.

Some of them are also using Airbnb as well, I just saw a lot more selection with the Bermuda Accommodations for whatever reason so just another thing to check out. :) VRBO has some as well, but not many that I could see.

LOL I would go there first! Don't be a Kevin! :D

Oh he will not be a Kevin, there are 40 of us, so I might just have to send a few of them down there right after trying for Vibe (those that want it). They also will be looking for new beers for their beer app as well so that will help motivate for sure.

  16. Thank you for the great review! We are going on Escape in July for our wedding at the Reefs. We stayed there for a few days in April to sort things out for our wedding and I do agree the hotels on the island are a bit expensive, but if you are looking to go back and stay on the island, i wanted to suggest Bermuda Accommodations, they have some really nice condos, houses, and apartments to rent. We rented a 3 bedroom house right by Henry the VII restaurant, right below the light house) and it was really reasonable for being in July. Others in our wedding party have rented smaller accommodations for less then $200/night and most have full kitchens to save some money on things such as breakfast or lunch. I will definitely be planning a trip back to Bermuda again and renting a house for a few days to be able to enjoy more time and all the things to do on the island.

My fiance did have one question, how early/quickly do you think he needs to get to the District to get on the beer board (he and his friends are very competitive and this is right up his alley, he for sure will not be Kevin with only one drink and never come back! I have a feeling he will be up there in the numbers. :)

  17. The dollar store also has magnetic dry erase boards that come w the markers that you can use on the doors to write notes to each other. I got those for our group for our last cruise and everyone loved it...

  18. Hello,

I am getting married in Bermuda as well, but in July (also coming in on the Escape) and my wedding planner suggested someone for hair and make up. I can send you their contact information if you would like. I will be in Bermuda next week for a hair trial and to meet with my wedding coordinator, photographer, etc. I can let you know how it goes (hair dresser) if you would like as well. :)

  19. Send an e-mail to SpecicalEventsEscape at ncl.com, they should be able to help. They are helping me arrange a cocktail party the first day as well as make dinner reservations for our group of 40 people. Sometimes she is quick to respond and other times it take a few days so just be patient. Hopefully they are able to help!
