  1. I decided to go for it and booked this excursion. I'll come back and write a review after my July Breeze cruise. I hope it's good :)

I'd love to hear about your experience on this one. We were considering it for our November cruise, but there's never much information on the boards about the culinary tours.

  2. yes they had it on the breakfast buffet in november on the Freedom, not sure if every day, but I did have it one day, and I believe it was also gluten free, but cant be certain of it.

I haven't ever seen a gluten free version of the banana bread. It really is more like a date nut bread and I've found it next to the muffins on every ship I've sailed. There's a gluten free bread as well that might be near it on the buffet, but it's a completely different animal. (I don't care for the gluten free bread on the ship; it's made with hominy so it's pretty gritty.)

  3. I spend plenty of money on alcohol when I'm on board, so losing one free drink doesn't make much difference in my personal bottom line. However, the way Carnival has handled this change and the past guest program as a whole tells me that they're not that invested in repeat business. It's certainly an incentive to explore other lines rather than being loyal to Carnival. That's fine with me, and won't matter to them in the long run.

If people want to roll their eyes about it, so be it. But I can understand why the red and gold people are put off by an incentive being taken away from just certain levels of returning customers.

  4. Why not make the drink coupon redeemable anywhere on the ship?

Because then more people would have used it, thus costing Carnival even more money. Downgrading perks for Red and Gold cruisers is going to save them money, end of story. This decision has nothing to do with complaints about the restrictions.

  5.

Besides room service and pizza, is there anything else to eat past 11pm? Salad anything?

I never bought snacks with me on a cruise has anybody done this?

    1) No, and you won't find any gluten free pizza on board. Sorry. My mom's gluten free also, but she's in bed by 11:00 so that's never a problem for us.

    2) My mom brings snacks. It's no problem to bring whatever on board; it's bringing food off the ship that can be an issue. It has to be in a factory-sealed (unopened) package if you want to take it off in port.

  6. Ok, given the name "Sea Day Brunch" this is probably going to sound stupid. But is this option ONLY on Sea Days? I don't know why, but I was under the impression it was offered every day. Am I wrong?

You can have breakfast in the MDR (or the Lido deck, of course) on port days, but the brunch experience is only on sea days, yes. Personally I don't love the menu and the omelets at the station on the Lido are better, but it's worth the trip if you've never done it.

  7. Does anyone have copies of some recent Fun Times from the Liberty they can post?

I am sailing on her Nov. 28th and I will scan and post the them when I get back shortly after Dec. 6th. My hope is to write a review while traveling so I actually post it, but at the very least I'll post the Fun Times.

  8. Actually the idea of this cruise is just to have a couple of drinks, relax, not even get off the ship, go to lunch and dinner and chill. Been on a few cruises and don't want to get home needing a vcaction....

We spend a lot of time in our cabin, so I get where you're coming from. Well, my traveling companions more than myself. I prefer to avail myself of the Serenity area, especially when the ship's in port and it's empty.

But for three days, I think you'll find the balcony is ample for relaxing. If you find that's not the case, Sensation does have a nice Serenity area now with ample comfy chairs. It's not as big as some, of course, but I like the location of the Serenity decks on the Fantasy class.

  9. To answer your actual question, there *is* a dress code for the indoor portion of the buffet. I'm sorry to say, however, that I've never seen it enforced. People aren't supposed to be in the dining area of the buffet in their swimsuits or shirtless, but I've seen it more than once.

The outside burger line is a different story, of course.

  10. Stu, it really wasn't that long ago. Like Mark, I enjoyed the little lined basket of snack mix, and agree that it might have prolonged my time on the bar stool just for the convenience.

On the Legend in April they had yummy fried pigeon peas, I think? And also plantains. Those were complimentary, but again, there's no full menu in the Legend's pub.

  11. We are flying into Orlando on Sunday morning 11/23. We land at 9:00am and are planing to stop and buy water to carryon. Does anyone know if you can purchase wine that early in the morning or do I need to figure out how to pack it in my luggage for the flight and then move it to carry on before boarding?

You can't buy liquor/wine until 11:00 on Sunday in Tampa. I believe it is the same in Orlando.

  12. I don't carry my phone around the ship but I love that nifty little tear part of the fun times to carry around.

I *do* carry my phone around the ship (I use it as an ereader and load it with library books before I leave home) and I still like that little tear-out. Can't highlight my phone screen so I know when the Harry Potter trivia is happening ;)
