I am trying to help someone who asked me for input on a Princess Cruise Tour. I am very familiar with the Natural History Tour", "Tundra Wilderness Tour", etc. and the difference between the tours and shuttles. I have never before heard of the following, and I quote: "This morning, take an educational tour into Denali National Park. " Does anyone have any experience with this tour or know anything about it? Since some of Princess' offerings state the "Natural History Tour" I am guessing this is something different. Any ideas/thoughts/knowledge? Thanks so much!!!

The husband was released in April. Not sure what to think.

This is a very old thread. I suggest you contact the venue direct (check website or email) to get the more current accurate information.
Or you can start a new thread, being very specific with your question.

Go to the ships excursion desk as soon as you board. You have no other options I am aware of with your port time in Juneau. Good luck!

If you can do only one, I agree that Tracy Arm is the one to choose. However, I must say we enjoyed the Misty Fjords tour. However, I do wish we had done the combo tour as mentioned above. That way you get the vastness from above as well as the view from water level, which was quite amazing actually.

Hello
I'm not Donna but I am a scrapper! I just ordered a bunch of stuff to complete my Alaska album from scrapbooking dot com - great site with a wide variety of items. I also use scrapmytrip dot com - same reasons. Both have high quality items perfect for scrap booking! Enjoy!

ps sorry just realized this is an old thread - it popped up in my messages today because of a newer response but hopefully you found what you needed!
Thanks!!! No I hadn't found another replacement. I will be sure to look these up. I have just been using what the photo sites have offered. They are improving, but don't always have what I hope to find. I do appreciate you responding to my question to Donna.

Awful, just seeing the first pictures on tv.
We're meant to board Odyssey this Saturday in Istanbul........
Have you heard from Seaborn? We have friends on the cruise that is supposed to arrive in Istanbul on Saturday. They were told they would not be going to Istanbul, but I have not heard what the alternate plan is. Good luck!

Hello Donna, Back in 2011 you helped me out with my Hawaii Photo Album. At the time you posted a site you used to purchase stickers and backgrounds. I resurrected this thread and did find the link for the company you used to supplement your Mixbook Album. However, they must not be in business any longer since the link doesn't work. Do you have any other websites you use now for stickers and backgrounds? I have been enjoying making photo albums, but I would love some more choices for backgrounds and stickers.
I see your thread continues to help others, just like it helped me back in the day. It was an amazing review with so many helpful hints.
I hope you have had many more amazing vacations since 2011 when we were in touch with each other.

We are thinking about doing the Princess September 2011 trip around Australia but are concerned about the weather on the bottom part of the trip. Will it still be cold?
Sknip: I suggest you start a new thread with your question.

I hope your companion will be okay and I am so sorry she had to miss the cruise. I have not read through all five pages, but it sounds like you were going to cancel as well. I am sorry it had to be that way.
Whenever one buys anything it is your personal responsibility to read all the fine print. I always buy my insurance independent of the tour provider and I read the policy word for word. Most insurance companies allow you to get a refund of your insurance if you cancel it in within 14 days. That gives you plenty of time to read it and to call with any questions. There can be a big difference in plans. Some do allow you to continue on with your plans with no losses f your traveling partner has to cancel, but others do require you to pay for the other person if you decide to continue with the tour/cruise. It should all be spelled out in the fine print that you should read.
One of my friends purchased insurance through the tour company. In her case she wanted reimbursement for missed days. The tour company arranged for all transportation and there were flight delays resulting in over a day of touring. Turned our her insurance plan was only for medical. :-(
To anyone reading this thread, the only advice anyone can give is to make sure you get a copy of the insurance policy and take the time to ready it carefully.

It has been nice keeping you up to date on the cruise. As I look out the window with the snow falling I some how "wish I was on a DAM ship."
So long everyone.
So happy to hear you had a safe trip home. Did you say you only paid $39 to park your car? If so, that was a bargain! It was going to cost my son (who boarded the Zuiderdam yesterday) $194 with Wally Park in San Diego, so he ended up taking Uber.
The snow has made its way to Michigan. We were in CA last week, so this is a reality hit for us. I actually am one of those rare souls who likes winter and snow, but just not in November.
I wish there was a live thread on this week's Zuiderdam cruise, but so far I have not found one. It would be nice to know how things are going on my son's cruise. This was a last minute trip for him and his inlaws. No one has cruised HAL before.
Take care father!! Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks, all, it was a very nice sail away - see you next time!:)
It was nice. My first time watching a sail away. Thanks to whomever planned this. It is a great service!!

Harbor pilots (experienced sea captains themselves) are mandatory to take large ships in and out of many, though not all, ports. Upon arrival, and upon departure, they transfer from their pilot boat and board the large ship via 'pilot ladder'. After arriving in port (and again prior to departure) they board the big ship via the gangway (usually, but not always ;)) and are escorted from/to the bridge where they meet the captain
Very informative. Thanks so much!
-
Did you catch a glimpse of your son?:)
Nope, but we were texting. Next best thing. His inlaws have an aft cabin, so I was sending my karma to the aft cabins. ;-)
-
Pilot has to get off the ship and onto the smaller boat. He only drives them out of the port.
Thank you!
-
Good shot of Zuidy and Princess on the SE cam; pilot transfer coming up
Excuse my ignorance, but why would they do a pilot transfer?
-
Yes it will, load it up!:D
I have loaded it. :-)

This was really cool watching my son's ship leave port. Will this ship be going by the Port Everglades webcam?
-
Hello All, I just stumbled on this thread. I never realized people watched the ships leaving port together. Kind of fun!! Thanks for doing this!

where is the "like" button! :p
definitely need one

Tell your son to wear a suit coat or sport coat on the Gala Nights. There are two of them.
The first Sea Day between HMC and Aruba and the second one is the day after Porto Lemon or the second last day at Sea.
Thanks for the info!! I will pass it on to my son. He is busy packing tonight. This was a last minute trip.
I hope you had a great cruise. Hopefully someday we can meet on one of the cruises you are on.
What is the " educational tour into Denali National Park" on Princess?
in Alaska
Posted · Edited by vbmom87
Thanks for the input. We were able to confirm it is the Natural History Tour. Princess says it goes 30 miles into the park. The Denali website says it goes 27 miles into the park. Definitely an improvement from the 15 miles and later 17 miles the tour included in past years. Still not far enough into the park for me though.
