  1. Trying to find an excursion on a boat that has steps going down into the water for stringray city. Carnival has their contract with marineland  tours that has a boat like this. I'm having a very hard time trying to book it. Maybe you know of another tour operator that has a simular boat??

  2.

In a way, we are having a similar experience only in Grand Cayman. In Carnival's excursion menu there was the stingray city excursion that we wanted Since we are 80 and 82 this is the one we wanted, (even though it was more expensive). I went to our booking to book it and it was not listed. I phoned Marineland Tours who Carnival has their contract with for this excursion and they said it would be available the day we need it.

I then phoned Carnival about this and they said contact their shore excursions dept. (by E-mail). So far, I've heard nothing. I'm not sure what to do next!!

  3. Under the Carnival Conquest reviews for January there was someone who went on a tour with Iberotours.

The tour lasted about two and one half hrs and cost around $29. per person. Does anyone have any more knowledge about this? That would be about my speed.

  4. Booking many months early is the secret, you did well. The resturants are in the shopping center next to La Quinta. It remains to be seen if they are in walking distance depending what shape you are in. We were in our middle 70's 5 yrs ago plus I had just had hip replacement surgery. We took a taxi to a resturant there. $4.00 at the time. I think there is a package store close and you should be able to walk.

  5. JBCruiser......Which La Quinta are you staying at? We stayed at the La Quinta Airport in January 2014. Stars shuttle was there to sign people up to take them to the port. Then it was about $8. per person. We will be there again the last of Feb. and I'm thinking La Quinta has a contract with them. I certainly had no complaints. I was just glad that service was available.

  6. Even though we've been on many Carnival cruises, I've learned the hard way that Early Saver is not so great. We've had to cancel a couple of cruises that I foolishly booked early saver. I mostly book past guest. We will be on the Conquest in Feb. and the price has gone higher and higher since I booked it. At least I was able to use my remaining credit after the cancellation fees.

We have never had a bad Carnival cruise. All have been great.

  7. I wanted an answer to this too. Those that have been there, done that: Is it a longer walk from the cruise port to Jacks Shack than walking from the cruise ship to the cruise port?

We were there in 2011 when we were more able bodied. Now DH can not walk very well. I'm just hoping he can walk from the ship to the cruise port. We are actually thinking of renting a taxi at cruise port to Jack's Shack. (PS, I read some where that it is 390ft from from ship to cruise port.

  8. I usually always book past guest because I like the option of canceling if we need to (we're 78 and 80), before final payment. For our cruise in October I lost my head and booked ES. (lured by the low deposit and $50. credit). I'm now holding my breath that we will be healthy enough to do this in Oct. I've wondered......has anyone tried to change their ES booking to Past Guest etc?

  9. I am 78 and my dh is getting ready to turn 80. I've had both knees and both hips replaced. I say all this to say: You might want to check out the Money Bar. It has gotten great reviews. It has steps leading down into the water,(with handlebars). I,m told the snorkeling and water is crystal clear.

We will be trying it in a couple of weeks. (never been). Sounds user friendly and affordable.

(We were at Mr Santoes last Nov. Could hardly walk in the sand. It seemed to be a place for the young and hardy.)

  10. I know you are coming in the day before, but I wanted to share this with you.

We flew in to New Orleans from Lubbock on the day of the cruise. on a whim, I purchased the transfers.

Due to my own stupidity of causing us to miss our flight in Lubbock and when we finally got on a flight and made it as far as Austin, the weather caused a long delay.

It became quite clear we would not make it to New Orleans in time. There is a phone number on your boarding pass to phone if you see that you are running late.

We made it in to New Orleans at ten after three. To my disbelief, Carnival started calling me and said they were waiting for us at baggage claim.

They were, they grabed our bags, and put us on their big bus and away we went.

Finally at ten til four we boarded the Dream which left at four.

This was a miracle because it says in the fine print that they stop picking up at two.

You will never hear me bad mouth Carnival. They went above and beyond.
