  1. I wonder if Carnival and P&O will rethink their decision now or if it was more to do with the ports up and down the WA coast.[/quote

I hope they do the Freo port issue is not that valid when they use a working port in Brisbane and they have even more cruise ships next year

The casino opened last night as soon as we left bunbury WA and bingo is on today

  2. Just because there's been no reports doesn't mean there's been no follow up or viewing of CCTV.

If they find anything there might be some more reports in the press, but just "police look at CCTV" won't garner much interest.

The investigation is still going including viewing CCTV

Via experts a lot of information has now been gathered

    Soon to be with coroner.

Hope the family will get some answers

  3. It's a 10-day out of San Francisco to Alaska. We've always booked a Caribe balcony and have been happy with it. Never occurred to us to ever book a mini suite as we've never justified the extra cost. An additional $500 for a tub and a TV is not what we think is of any value.

I agree not a great deal, balcony on caribe is much better than a mini and $500 in pocket , would have done the same and turned it down ,

  4. I have chosen GTY cabins on 15 cruises as the available cabins in the class I picked were all in the same area , out of that 9 were assigned within a week to the class I chose. All were allocated on a Monday ( in Australia )

The others I was upgraded about a week out from sailing again on a Monday all seemed to be around 11am ?

  5. You can sign up to receive e-mail notifications of last minute availability from your ports of choice:

Go to http://www.princess.com/ click on Sign In / Register and register if you have not already.

Once in the system, mouse over My Account and click on Profile Information

In the second header (with the Seawitch logo on the left) you will find a button for StandBy Program. Select which ports and notice period you want.

Unfortunately we don't have this option in Australia

Would be good if we did

  6. WE tried a price guarantee with an Alaskan tour but they rejected it due to a time issue of 15 mins but booked it as they had a 10% off sale the day after it was rejected !

We ended up getting all our money back when the princess tour operator put us on a plane to a completely different destination due to not having permits for the advertised destination without tell us until after we took off .

  7. What were you looking to buy? I usually buy vodka and they normally have a deal on that of 2 bottles for $22. Apart from that, its been my experience that it's usually cheaper to buy in port.

Thanks just looking in general to add to my collection ' unfortunately we have

no stops straight from Singapore to Australia

  8. Thanks JH...roll call very helpful tips.

I booked on-line our beverage package for 2 and was already charged A$831.60 to my credit card. Works out to be about A$70 per person per day.

You think I should bring this up with CruiseCo re the $19.80 deposit instead?

    Cheers

I think it works out about A$67 with discount but onboard you have to pay in US$ The cost is normally US$65 about A$85

  9. Hi Guys...newie here, first cruise, bit late but it is a start :D

I booked a junior suite on Ovations from Singapore to FREO. Had to compulsory buy a beverage package with my deal.

Just wondering if all packages on sale are all for period 30Nov-15Dec but my cruise is only 6 days in duration?

The cost showing is a deposit only $19.80 that will be taken off your package once on board as well as a 20% discount . Iam the same paid deposit and they will work out the final charge for the six days once on board . Still cheaper than ordering on board .

There is a roll call on this cruise that will help answer questions

  10. Why for nothing:confused:

Even if you paid a $2 fee, you will not be paying conversion fees etc, like if you drew from a credit card or some other card, also getting a good exchange rate.

We travelled all over Asia and didnt pay any fee at any ATM, whether they were Citibank logo or not........maybe we were lucky.

Laem Chabang is the port for Bangkok/Pattaya, heaps of ATM's showing......also Phu my is the port for Ho Chi Minh/Vung Tau, try searching those locations, plenty there;) The actual working ports will probably not have ATMS!!

Draw what you need in the first port of call for all the others in the same country, in the case you are paying an ATM fee.

Agree with you used the Citi card all over Asia , well all over the world and never a fee, it's a great card we load it up and withdraw cash at better rates than the money exchanges except in bali and Singapore. We use the bank west card for purchases now easier to payoff than the 28deg card
