  1. Well is has been a couple years since we went to the Cayman's but I thought they gave us a number ticket to board the tender boat but then again old age may have me confused:confused::confused:. In any case I know we were off and on shore on the second or third tender boat with our first excursion being at 9:30.

I thought I might be going crazy so I searched the tendet ticket thingy in Grand Cayman and found Host Mach who also showed getting a tendet ticket.:confused:

I had a very early excursion on the Atlantis Submarine in Grand Cayman sailing on the Conquest... needed to be on shore by 8 AM...

I told one of the staff that I needed an early off and he handed me a ticket for the second tender...

At the excursion talk we were all told to report to the Toulouse Lautrec Lounge to get tender tickets... no biggie!

    :)

  2. Tender ticket??? We never got / had / needed one. We just presented our Sail & Sign, and 'walked the plank'. ;)

  3. Maybe I am using the wrong term but What I mean is when the ship anchors off shore and passengers need to take the 'tender' (large water taxi) to the port to get on shore.

You are using the correct term. A tender boat is just that, a smaller boat which is used like a water taxi. I also booked on my own and just went down as soon as they allowed you to and got a tender ticket. We were on shore in plenty of time.

  4. I pulled out my old capers and it had on it; oriental fare from PC Wok, fresh sandwiches from Paul's deli, steaks and burgers from The grill and seafood from Sue Mer's. If you go hungry than if would be your fault :D

Make sure you check out Sur Mer's which is a good sea food place which I think is on deck 10. Also make sure you go to the pursers desk and get you a couple of the little fold out deck plans which shows you where everything is at.

  5. Thanks so much for the replies- i have been doing so much reading its all running together!!!

I keep seeing both sides of the line on drinking the water- what are ya'lls opinions? i plan on bringing a case of water for myself and wife, and a soda card for me.

I just drank the ships water and it as good as any other tap water IMHO.

  6. I leave in 7 days on my first cruise!!

Question about food/drinks- i know drinks aren't included but have been reading all meals, cold room service is included.

Is the "coffee/dessert" bar not included in price?

what places do i pay for food and what is free? deli/sushi/ice cream etc-

so if i get hungary in mid day- do i have to pay since its not a meal time?

No regular coffee, juice and so forth are still free. You can visit any one of the grills, fish and chips and pizza places which is also included. Really the only thing you will need to pay for as far as food/drink is alcohol drinks, soda and if you go to the point resturant. As far as I know the rest is yours for the eating. Oh yes ice cream is free. You will have a great time, enjoy your cruise!!

  7. What is the cost for internet access?

    Internet Café Price List :

To utilize the internet service, the below options are available. Please note that the internet pricing options are identical, whether an Internet Café terminal is utilized, or a laptop. All internet access charges will be billed directly to the guest's onboard “Sail & Sign” Account:

An initial one-time Activation Fee of $3.95 applies to each user.

A basic time charge of $0.75 per minute (“Pay-As-You-Go”) is available. Minutes are rounded to the next full minute.

Discounted “Time Plans” offer guests the opportunity to enjoy a lower per-minute rate. These Time Plans do not have to be used in a single session and can be used anytime throughout the cruise until debarkation; No refund for unused minutes; Upgrading selected pricing option is not available. Plans are subject to change.

Cruises 6 days in length and longer:

    100 minutes for $55.00 ($0.55 per minute)

    250 minutes for $100.00 ($0.40 per minute)

Cruises less than 6 days in length:

    30 minutes for $16.50 ($0.55 per minute)

To rent a Wireless Radio Card for a guest's personal laptop, the rate is $10.00 per day; Optional insurance is $3.00 per day. This allows guests to connect their laptops to the ship's wireless signal and is in addition to the Internet price plans.

A limited number of laptops are available for rent with a Time Plan purchase; optional insurance is $10.00 per day.

  8. All cabins on the Conquest have mini-bars. (a small fridge with stuff for sale in them). You can ask your steward to remove the stuff but he may not be allowed too. If this is the case, tell him you are putting some of the canned goods in your closet to make room for your personal stuff, and that you do not expect to be charged nor have the items replaced.

I also might add that if you think it will keep your items frosty cold...sorry but they don't work that great so keep that in mind.

  9. Has anyone noticed that there are only 3 excursions offered in Mo Bay? Should I be worried about taking my family there?

I noticed that also. We don't sail until October but I remember when we said the Conquest last time we booked ours months before and it showed all of them. I am guessing that maybe they are updating them with prices and so forth. I know if I just go in and look without putting in my reservation number they all show but when I go in under my sailing mobay is the only one that only shows 2 or 3 while the other ports all show up.

  10. Ok, it is count down time . . . 3 weeks from Sunday and I am off on my first cruise.

Has anyone ever stayed in room 8324? I know it is under the Lido, and I have heard there may be some chair scraping overhead. Any other problems that you noticed? I am excited about the balcony.

We stayed in 8322 (inside) and heard the chair noise only one morning. It is not chair scraping becasue I went up on deck early one morning and the crew member was launching the chairs so it was more like chair throwing. Other then that we loved it. It was our first cruise also and being midship may have helped with the sea sickness. I liked the location, close enough to the elavators and if they were busy only a walk up one flight of stairs to the Lido deck. No other problems that we noticed. You will have a great time.

  11. We are sailing Oct 7..party of 12...and have booked the Sandal's excursion through Carnival. I read that we have to attend some kind of "tour of the property"...some of the guys are not happy. Can you tell me about that...how long it took, etc? Did you book thru Carnival?

Also, since you have just recently returned...any "don't miss" advice?

We just got back from our cruise a couple of weeks ago and booked Sandals through Carnival. The tour is not really a tour. You go inside sit at the stage-show area and they tell what you can do while on property like water sports and so on. It takes all of about 10 minutes or so and then you are free to do what you want. Just a suggestion if you want to do water sports sign up early as they tend to fill up fast. The beach is great, food and drinks awesome, you will have a great time.

  12. Hello,

if my question has been posted b4 .. please just list the link to it!! Don't want to be a bother..

We are cruising for the second time on the Conquest.. this time it will be out of Galveston and not NOLA. We have never been to Galveston and we are flying in from IAH.. egads. how did we do that one?

What are the least expensive ways to travel from Airport to Hotel. We are staying at the Quality Inn Seawall.. When we leave the cruise we will be going directly to the airport.. opps that makes this two questions in one.. (doesn't count I tell myself. : ))

    Second question? of course.. ha!

We will be in a Mini Suite for the first time as well. Its a cat 11.. on Empress Deck. aft port side. 7317 What's it like? I have not seen any pix of it. I was hoping it would be a quiet room and lovely!! not asking too much?

Also.. We have considered the Sandals all day event.. any one attend it? was it worth the choice.??

o m goodness.. my questions are getting ahead of me.. pulling me into "BotherHood"

    hehehe!

Glad you have this thead. I wish everyone a great cruise !

    blue

It kind of depends what you are looking for. We did Sandals (9-2 cruise) and it is a nice beach, lot's of food and drink (included) in the price, adult only, games and water activities and enjoyed it.

  13. Thanks that is really wanted I wanted to know if I could just go and use internet just to check in on work and not really take too much time, but just in case they NEED some thing inportmant. Again appreciate your response...

I also did the by the minute. They offer packages, like $55 for 100 minutes and there was another one that was higher. There were 2 times during the cruise that they offered half price usuage for 3 hours, once in the morning and the other time was in the evening. They were a couple of days apart so if you can wait for them it will save a few $$$$. Only have to wait 10-15 minutes one time to use a computer.

  14. OK, I have been reading threads and threads on this forum and have learned a lot. This is my/our first cruise and I am sure I will have several questions. One that I have is that we have booked room 832x on the verandah deck which looks like it is under the pool on the lido deck. I read somewhere that there is a lot of noise from the pool area on the deck above. Anyone stayed in this area and have any comments for or against? Also any advise for first time crusiers or with the Conquest that anyone can offer would be great.
