1. Thanks so much for your review. I'm going on the Pride in June for my wedding. Would you happen to have saved your Fun Times by any chance? I've been trying to track down some recent copies and haven't had any luck just yet. I'm trying to see when the Quest game and the Love and Marriage show is as I'd like to include those as events for our entire party to do together. I want to include some highlights and not to miss activities in our welcome letter.

  2. Hi, ShanteS!

Our wedding is next Friday, May 18th! 😊 I was able to move things along easier with TWE as the wedding got closer. Our ceremony is at the Grand Lucayan Resort in Freeport.

Our reception is back on board in the nightclub with the DJ. We didn’t choose a food option for guests since the wedding is at 10:30am and our reception will be over mid-afternoon in time for a late lunch. We are however offering bar service so I’m sure our guests will enjoy that more anyways.

You will receive calls from both Carnival and TWE to confirm everything about 10 days before and answer any last minute questions. This helped put my mind at ease some. I’m a planner so this hands-off experience has been somewhat difficult for me. Fingers crossed we both have stress-free, beautiful weddings!

Wow!! It's so close!! Are you here in Baltimore or will you be traveling here for the cruise? What all do you have left to do with a week left and a few days before boarding the ship? Did you tell them what time you wanted to ceremony to begin or did they tell you when? Also, did they tell you when the reception was as well and does it have to be finished by the time the ship sails from port?

Did you do welcome bags and welcome letters for your guests? Are you bringing your own décor at all or no? Oh and could you also share the Fun Times please when you return? I'm sorry for asking so many questions. LOL Will you do a review afterwards and post pics? I'd love to know how your experience was.

  3. Hello everyone!! I'm also getting married while cruising on the Pride. We're leaving June 24th with a group of close to 50 people (which is a lot more than we expected) and will be getting married in Grand Turk on the third day. They've changed the wedding packages around so we switched to the Classic Diamond and will have a 1 hour reception back onboard the ship. I'd love to know more about the cocktail party as well.

  4. Hello!! I'm also getting married on the Carnival Pride but in June 2018. You're wedding may have already happened. If not, when will it be and which destination will you be getting married? I haven't had any issues with getting response from TWE but I always call them. When I did send a message it did take awhile for a response. Have you been utilizing their website at all? That's made things easier for me during this planning process.

And yes they are SUPERRRRR expensive and severely overpriced. Considering the amount we paid Carnival we should NOT have to pay for chairs for our guests and the transportation is also very expensive but we paid it through them to make it easier for us. I'd love to hear how your experience is overall and where your reception is held etc. I think it will become a lot easier as far as planning once you're onboard and can actually talk to everyone face to face. The not knowing things for sure though can be nerve wrecking for sure though.

  5. i just hope the carnival gets back to me with the date and time I selected for the dinner. debating on getting them cruise cash to cover the cost.

They should be able to confirm everything for the date and time you requested. Also just an FYI, back in 2014 they'd give you a free bottle of wine if you chose to dine at the Steakhouse on embarkation day. Can anyone tell us if they still do this in the Steakhouses?

  6. Hello everyone! I'm getting married on the Pride in June and I'm trying to put together a Welcome Letter (with certain activities highlighted) for our guests that are cruising with us but I can't find any recent Fun Times from this year for the Grand Turk, HMC, and Freeport itinerary. If you have them can you please share them with me?

I've tried searching the board here as well as Google and haven't had much luck tracking anything down. TIA for any help with this!

  7. any idea which nights are formal?planning reservations for inlaws for steakhouse and they dont want to miss a formal night in MDR.

I know Monday night for sure is the first formal night and I believe the last one is Thursday.

  8. Hello everyone! I sailed on the Pride for the first time back in 2014 and fell in love with it. My best friend and I had SO much fun! I loved it so much that nearly four years later I'll be sailing on her again with family and friends this June and getting married while in Grand Turk. I'm looking for the Fun Times for the Grand Turk, HMC, and Freeport cruise. Would anyone happen to have these? I've tried googling "Carnival Pride Fun Times 2018" but I haven't been able to locate anything recent. Thanks so much for any help!

  9. I've never been able to return anything once the cruise was over. I bought my mom a beautiful Perlina (I think its called) charm bracelet during their Perlina sale and even had to protect it from an older lady who tried to snatch it out of my hands! Brought it home as part of a thank you gift to my mom for watching my little girl while I took a girl's trip. She loved it and wore it everyday until it slipped off her wrist after a month or so. The clasp broke and there was no way to fix it and the customer service was not helpful at all.

They have some nice things in the shops but I wouldn't pay an arm and a leg for any of it. If anything happens to it after the ship docks you're screwed and stuck with it basically.

  10. LOL I've seen plenty of heavy petting on Serenity deck at night and years ago on the Miracle my cousin and I were walking around on one of the top decks at night and saw a couple in the ACT on a lounger out in the open and in front of the windows of the gym (it was closed though). It happens!! Not that big of a deal and it never bothered me. I just keep it moving!! We're all on vacation. *shrug* And I've never heard of security stepping in and detaining anyone because they were getting busy. I'd think if anything that just provides entertainment for them on the cameras. LOL

  11.
Yeah and I think it's not always immediately obvious why. After all, what does age have to do with it when the weight and height meet the restraint safety requirements? Booster seats are only equally as safe as a harness if the child sits properly in them. If they don't it becomes massively unsafe. Every kid is different but I know my 3 year old wouldn't be able to sit still in one and I can only imagine the safety issues that would arise as she worked her way out of the seat and distracted me while on a highway. And also, she's a big kid at 3 1/2 feet tall and 47 pounds (my husband is 6'4 and I'm 5'9 so she got the tall gene). But yeah, no way she could handle herself in a booster seat.

That said though, manufacturers really don't make it obvious. I've never actually seen a car seat box or manual explain that behavioral development should be considered. Most people get car seats that grow with the child, so they only read the manual for the current requirements (or just glance at the later requirements) and then when it's time to make a change what sticks out in your memory is the height and weight, which is what the emphasis is on for earlier years. It can be hard to remember all those small differences!

We're cruising with my 3 year old in a couple of months. Wish we didn't have to take her seat, but in case of an emergency I want it with us. Do you know if we have to carry it on or can we send it with out bags and it'll be delivered to the room?

Usually you can bring a car seat to the gate and they will check it when you get on the plane and then get off. I think they go in a different spot and since it's not going through the whole airport in series of transfers via people and machines, I think it's much less likely to get damaged.
Definitely!!! It's hard to keep up with it all. LOL My mother and grandmother HATE my daughters huge bulky carseat and the fact that I carry it EVERYWHERE and have pleaded for a booster seat for her. I refuse though because not only is she tiny (30 lbs) I know she won't sit right/well in it. I'd feel much better knowing that she's protected from every angle with her carseat.

And you can give the porters the carseat with your luggage and it'll make it to your cabin just fine. Last year I did that for the first time and it arrived without a scratch on it.

As far as gate checking the carseat I never considered it because I prefer for my daughter to sit in it on the plane but it is a great option. The only thing I gate check is her umbrella stroller and I have a cover for that. I cringe whenever I see someone checking a carseat at curbside with the rest of their luggage. Now that she's 4 though I could gate check the carseat as well as the stroller. It would prevent her from kicking the seat in front of her (even though we try to have a family member sit in front of her seat to avoid disturbing other passengers).
  12. Hello all,

I'm looking for the Funtimes for the Carnival Breeze Southern cruise. Particularly the embarkation Funtimes for the first day. I'm trying to figure out what time the sailaway party and camp carnival registration is because I'd like to go to the steakhouse around 8:30. I don't want my reservation at the steakhouse to run into either of those two events I mentioned up above. Unfortunately, I don't remember what time either of those events happened last year when I sailed on her. LOL

    Thanks for any help!

  13.
Sometimes this isn't obvious with car seat specs but the requirement to move up to a non-harnessed seat is weight (40 or so pounds depending on the seat) AND age (4 and up). I have never seen one that is 3 and up. Your child is supposed to meet both requirements before moving to a booster.

I have a 3 year old too and I've definitely experienced some confusion about some of the guidelines so I thought I would mention it.
This!!! When the OP mentioned a booster for a 3 year old I immediately thought that was too young. I've been taking my daughter with me on cruises since she was a week shy of 2 so I've ALWAYS brought her carseat along. She'll be 4 on our cruise in 8 days but I'll still be bringing the carseat. I've always stored her carseat in one of the closets.
Just a thought I know you said you are using some sort of special airline harness, but it you paid for son to have a seat (any child over 3 most airlines), you can just strap him and his car seat into the seat. Airlines recommend this and your son will probably be much more comfortable being in a seat he is used to. Airlines let you bring way more stuff for kids. Just check out the website.
Also, I agree with strapping him into his carseat and then buckling the carseat in. It is really the safest option. Also, even with a cover for the carseat I wouldn't check it. They are so rough with the luggage and the carseat could be damaged.
  14. The next time I get on a big ship, I must remember to get upset waiting in lines to check in:eek: People here can't wait a minute for anything anymore. I've been in line waiting to board, it was part of my experience. I guess some of us look at things differently. The last time I boarded a big ship, I was late getting there due to transportation. I walked in, checked in and on the ship. I felt like something was missing!:D

Amen!!! Waiting in line to check in never bothers me one bit and I also look at it as a part of the experience. The line moves fairly quickly in Miami during the embarkation process anyway.

Now the debarkation was an absolute disaster though!! Hardly any working elevators and I had our carry on luggage, umbrella stroller, carseat, and a 3 year old. I'm not looking forward to that process again but she'll be a year older this time and we're on deck 1 so it should be much easier this time. We shall see!

  15. I wouldn't pay to switch. You are switching from one unknown to another.

You might get the best location on the ship, and be stuck next two four cabins full of 2 am door slammers who yell at friends down the hall and party all night long. It's just an unknown.

There are very few cabins that are truly terrible. Every cabin is going to have some noise. Just stick with your decision and see what happens.

When we've been in low decks we've often heard ship creaking or waves pounding; so yes- you will likely have some noise. But we've been in expensive cabins high up on the ship that have had TONS of passenger based noise and it made me miss the ship noise.

That is very true!! Thanks for your input!!

  16. Not to sound too cliche, but any cabin on a Carnival ship (especially the Breeze) is a good cabin! :)

That is very true!! However, I'm traveling with my 4 year old daughter and my 16 year old sister in the cabin with me. If the noise and vibrating wakes my 4 yr old then yes it is a bad cabin IMO. LOL I can sleep through anything, her not so much.

And I should've been clearer when I asked if they'd let me switch rooms. Of course I can switch today and pay extra (if necessary) to be moved. I meant once we're on the ship will they allow us to move to a different OV cabin. But I suppose that would depend on whether or not they have anymore cabins available. Hopefully it won't be too much of an issue. We shall see shortly!
