  1. I have read that you can take bus #22 to Vallley Church, Jolly Beach Darkwood, and Fryers beach. Some posts mention that taxis are sometimes hard to catch for the return ride to the ship, so the bus interests me as an additional option? Can anyone suggest how long of a walk it is from the bus to get to these beaches? Also how long of a bus ride is it?

  2. Greetings

We were booked with Bruno Fabre but ended up going with his colleague George ...Erics cousin of Eric Taranui Morou excursions .Wow what a great day .Swam with sharks, sting rays ,circled this enchantinpg island with the most gorgeous crystal clear turquoise waters .We stopped at a Motu for a wonderful lunch where my request for broiled fish was respected .yummy huge .mahi mahi grilled to perfection .Gorgeous lunch in breathtaking surroundings .under palm trees facing this incredible lagoon ....awesome

We headed to vanilla farm and pearl farm ...I would skip both as both are extremely expensive and we wwre not greeted as I felt we should at Pearl farm ,Time better spent in water of Motu belonging to Eric and George ...a little piece of heaven .

The highlight was the drift snorkel ...words cannot describe it ...beyond gorgeous ..like being in an underwater movie ..the current picks you up on what I called the Taha.a choochoo express .George warns you ...you cannot stop you must be ready to go ...this current stops for no one ...off we went ,I followed a fellow filming it all ...cannot wait to get a copy ...coral and fish were absolutely gorgeous ...such colour ..wow ...wow ...wow ..it is a unique experience ...we lucked out with perfect conditions ....my best souvenir of French Polynesia ..beyond belief gorgeous ...do not miss this especially if you are a diver or snorkeler or just love colourful fish and coral ...best snorkeling I have ever done ...and I have snorkeled the Caribbean mediteranean and Red Sea ...this place beats it all ...wow ...wow ...wow ..a feast for the eyes

I highly recommend Eric and his guys ...one of them carried my shoes for me while I did the snorkeling with my fins

Be advised you will need those to walk to the entrance of the choochoo ...George guided us and we went in single file ..you defintely need fins ..so bring your own plus a mask and snorkel ...mine broke but guys on ship fixed it ..thank you Levi i of Oceania Marina

We had an amazing day ...so glad I went with George instead

Email him for reservation teranuieric@hotmail.fr.......tell him Michele from Montreal says hello

You will love this day ..it was wonderful Eric was super nice as were all his family ...loved it

Michele the email you gave is getting kicked back. Do you have a better way to contact them?

  3. What I've heard with various types of sun allergies is it can work like a one two punch when certain chemicals are paired in your system with the sun exposure. Certain medications you take, or a chemical in a product applied to the skin, trigger the reaction when coupled with the time in the sun. Exposure to either the chemical or the sun light alone is not sufficient to induce the rash, and it's not till on a cruise with more time outside in the sun that you have the reaction. Not saying this is what happened with you, but something to consider. The rash can even develop in an area that isn't exposed to sun.

There are probably numerous things that could be causing the rash. Best to talk with the doctor. This is just something I have been made aware of.

  4. That's interesting. A few years ago my wife came down with a rash on her hands a few hours after using the hand sanitizer in one of the dr's. We went to the ship's doctor and got some medication for it but never found out what it was. She is allergic to nickel, silver and obviously copper too ( at least that's what she tells me when shopping for "GOLD" jewerty icon7.gif)

I'll have to remember that allergy next time we go jewelry shopping! Too funny.

  5. It could be from fragrances in most anything around you. It could be additives in the detergent the ship use for the sheets and towels, to something in your sun screen, to your idea of something in the soap. If it's only on certain areas, and not others, that may rule out the soap.

Have you considered it may be an allergy to the sun? Is the rash only on places that have had sun exposure? Try Googling it and see what you think. Here is an excerpt from an article on sun allergy:

What happens is a change occurs in the sun affected skin which causes the immune system to think that the affected skin is a foreign component. Then the body reacts by fighting it like it would any other foreign matter.

  6. I have never tried bidding for a hotel before, and have so many questions. I have been reading this thread and am very encouraged by the help many posters find here.

We will need a rooms for April 25 2009, what should I expect to pay for a 3* or above? This is at the end of peak.

I will be sailing out of the Pan American Cruise Terminal, so will this affect which hotels I would want to try to get.

  7. It is that little welcome card from the captain that is left on your desk or nightstand at the first or second night of the cruise.

We never keep those, usually it goes to the bin together with the platters at the end of the cruise. I only keep the Cruise Log which is delivered towards the end of the cruise. It has all the daily details of the "technical" part of the cruise and a nice summary of the itinerary. This is about the ONLY paper from the cruise we keep.

They told me the same thing but they give out the stamps pretty freely, so if you just go ask for one they will give it to you. It just won't have the captain's signature on it unless you sail the same itinerary with the same captain again. The signature isn't consistant anyway, some of my other stamps don't have the signature.

  8. We just returned from the Crown and stayed in B749. If I had the chance I would always book this cabin over others, the problem is it is popular and aft cabins go quickly. We had our laptop and enjoyed the added bonus of free wifi when in a port that had closeby wifi such as San Juan. It was accesable from the aft on any deck. We did not experience much difficulty with the rocking motion. The sound is different than with side balcony cabins, as it sounds more like a waterfall with a constant water noise, and the sides you hear the waves more.
