1. Just returned from here, spent the day right there at the pool area. Had read reports about crowding and such, but not for us. It was DH and 2 grown daughters and found chairs right beside the pool next to swim up bar. We were the only ship at port that day, so could have played a factor in it. But great music, drinks and food all day! They do have the all-inclusive pass for $50 which included most drinks and one regular lunch item menu. They gave you a wristband and punched it once you received your food item. They kinda expect a tip though for good drink service, so that's not really included in total price. We had a blast there and didn't want to leave, also all merchandise was duty-free. We actually never went down to beach area, after spending day in Half Moon Cay there was no comparison to the beach. But the pool was very spacious and enjoyable! Have fun no matter what you choose!

Did you buy the pass there or online?

    Thanks

  2. My family and I will be in Bonaire as one of our ports of call and we're wanting to go to a nice relaxing beach. We are not interested in scuba diving or snorkeling, unfortunately since we don't swim, but love the beach. Is there somewhere we can go that has a beautiful beach with chairs and maybe some drinks? We've been to both Aruba and Curaçao and we're able to fine beaches there, but I'm not too sue about Bonaire.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

All the beaches are free to go on at all resorts. Beach is owned by the government. Write the Plaza Resort or Divi flamingo about a day pass.

  3. How far from port are the flats? We are doing the Woodwind snorkeling at noon but our ship arrives in port at 7am. Wondering if we have enough time to get to the flats and back.

They are about 10 to 15m south past the airport. It is only about 2hrs to go around the island. Check out the light house in the south tip.

  4. For an Adult Only...look into Secrets Maroma Beach...it's in Playa. It's amazing! It's part of the NOW properties. It has the #2 beach rated by trip advisor.

  5. It is about 4 blocks or so once you get out of the cruise terminal and on to Convention Blvd which is not too far if you don't have luggage, but it would be a chore with luggage. We ended up taking a taxi after our cruise. It's a bit of a rip as there is a standard charge to taxi from the cruise port. If I recall correctly it cost us the same amount as we paid to go from the Monteleone on Royal Street in the French quarter to the cruise port. The cab driver apologized for this. Even so, I would not have been willing to drag my luggage to the hotel. If you are splitting the cost among a cab load of travelers, it would not be worth the aggravation to walk. I can't remember exactly how much, the taxi was, but I think it was about $10.00. With that said, some people just roll their luggage up to Convention Blvd and try to flag a cab from there. This way you avoid the cruise port surcharge.

What port surcharge? See you stayed at the Monteleone on Royal Street.

Can you get into the Carousel Bar & Lounge with shorts and shirt or do they require pants?

    Thanks

Is there a cruise port surcharge if you take the hotel shuttle?

  8. Our group consists of myself and DH (26&30), our two sons (2 and 7 months) and my parents (60's). We are looking for something to do (besides the zoo & beach, as we are doing those at other ports) that would take 3-4 hours max, not be terribly expensive and fairly low impact.

Any suggestions? I'm not coming up with much. TIA

Check out booking thru ShoreTrips, Have used them for years with no problems.

    They have lots of ideas

  9. another rum runner question - are they re-usable?

The photo I've seen doesn't look that easy to clean between uses.

To be practical they have to be washable and dry thoroughly between uses and the sort of nozzle looking thing I've seen has me questioning if it can be re-used

Wash thoroughly, rinse well, Blow air in and invert in strainer to let water drain. Remove cap and let remaining water drain. Use a large bore straw and blow out excess water drops and leave open to dry with straw insde to keep sides apart till dryed
