  1. I have a Samsung 8+ phone with Verizon.  I use the WhatsApp application with my phone on airplane mode to text and call via wi-fi, using the wi-fi package onboard I purchased, while on the ship.  In St Thomas and San Juan, they are USA territories and whatever domestic package you have in the US will work just fine there, per Verizon.  If you have an International package, in St Kitts, the International package would kick in.  This is also per Verizon.

  2. Ship Emerald Princess

    Class Grand

    Deck 15 - Lido

    Stateroom # L107 Cancun Suite

    Category S5 Balcony Suite

    Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern Starboard side forward

    Connects With Cabin # none

    Accessible no

Quiet No! Beneath the fitness center, which the treadmills are open from 8Am until 8PM

Balcony Size approx. 210 square feet, about 42' X 5'

View Partially obstructed by the bridge at the forward end of the balcony

Privacy Issues Bridge could possibly see into the bedroom at night, but during the day the reflective material over the window prevents that. The observation platform over the bridge appears to be permanently closed off to guest access, so no one can see onto the balcony from there. Passengers on the fitness center deck above can partially see down on the balcony.

Wind Very windy when the ship is under full speed. The balcony furniture needs to be tied down and secured during the windy days and nights. The cabin steward had ours tied down most of the time.

    Soot None

Problems Noise from the above fitness center makes the room terribly noisy during the use of the treadmill time of 8AM to 8PM.Views from the balcony are great when looking straight out, but partially blocked when looking forward.

Comments Very large suite. Some of the amenities included

fresh flowers in each room including the bathroom, deluxe canapes, free access to a DVD library (room steward will get them for you), balcony furniture, full hot breakfast room service menus, as well as upgraded room service lunch and dinner items and upgraded bathroom amenities. Complimentary services include, use of the Lotus Spa Thermal Suite, Internet Cafe web access, laundry and dry cleaning, as well as a one time complimentary use of the mini bar.

  3. The Emerald Princess is doing a hashtag photo contest each cruise on Instagram. They want you to post your onboard or in port photos and tag them with the hashtag "#emeraldprincessmoments". Any pictures are good, but only pictures with the guest or guests in them will be considered for a prize. The prize awarded is a bridge tour and a meet and greet with the Master of the Vessel. The CD and entertainment staff will be talking about the contest on the morning show on the TV.

I won the prize during our cruise August 5-12, 2018. The tour was very interesting and informative. We met the Captain and the crew on the bridge. A cadet, Matthew, then proceeded to answer our questions and show us around.

  4. Just off the Emerald and it had to be used the first night. They had originally put us in the "Crab Shack" for the first night. We could not get anyone on the phone so we went to Share. They changed our reservation for us to come to Share that night. The food was good and we did not leave hungry.

  5. Dear MPicchioldi,

Do you if i messages will work while on the ship? I really don't need video while on the ship. Is the WhatsApp the best way to go while on the ship?

I have an Android phone and when I get on the ship I place my phone in airplane mode to avoid the high charges from Verizon. We use WhatsApp to call and text back home. WhatsApp is a cross platform app that allows a person with an Android phone to connect with someone with an iPhone and vice versa. Even worked great in Italy to contact back to the USA. You just have to have wi-fi to use it. The wi-fi on the last two ships I was on supported it pretty well (Carnival Dream and RCCL Liberty of the Seas).

  6. Yes there are non-family P1 and P2 panoramic OV cabins.

Here are shots of P1 large panoramic OV cabin 1864 on Navigator.

Thank you for the photos of the P1 cabin. I have that booked on the June 25th sailing of the Liberty and have found there are not many photos out there of this cabin. I have been wanting to get a photo of the closet, as I heard they are small.
