  1. We were on the Vista on the 2/8/20 sailing and were in 6461.  We never hear loud music at night in our cabin or on our balcony.  And I sit out and read until about midnight.  I stayed in the havana pool area on almost all of the sea days and never witnessed anyone playing their "boom box" or doing cannonballs in the pool.  I'm not saying it didn't happen because I did go to lunch for about an hour before coming back.  Most of the people we talked with were congenial and polite.  But, in the past if someone did something out of line I have complained and gotten it resolved.  That includes the people in the cabin next to ours this time who seemed to want to smoke on the balcony.  Guest services came up to our room, looked over the divider and saw their bucket with their cigarette butts out there.  I definitely didn't cruise to smell smoke on my balcony.  Sorry you had a bad time.

I am really completely befuddled that there is so much angst about this.

If you have children under 12 and want to use the Havana area, book a Grand Suite or a Havana inside next to a regular inside and put them in Camp Ocean or Night Owls when you want to use the Havana pool area.

As for the every man argument, I booked a Panorama sailing where I booked my hubs and I on an inside Havana and kids in a regular inside.  There was about $200 per person difference in the room from Havana inside to regular inside.  That's less than some excursions that only last for a few hours, and this is for a week. The cost of the inside Havana was less than a balcony.

By comparison, to have 7 inches of extra leg room on an international flight, the cost goes up by $1400.

People already pay extra for perks like suites and "Faster to the Fun" and the Chef's table.

And comparing a Havana room to a yacht is laughable. For starters, the price difference isn't even slightly comparable.

We booked the Havana specifically because we can't afford a yacht.  I would love to be on Below Deck!  lol

  3. Sorry, it's kind of late, I was looking at the Carnival Vista.  As for as the Legend, we had that cabin in September and putting it politely, it sucked.  We should have stuck with regular aft.  Water kept flooding the bathroom from underneath the tub,  TV would come on full blast in the middle of the night.  I personally think the room was haunted.

As I stated earlier, the trip will be fun and looking forward to it as usual. I will address any concerns I have when I feel the need to do so. Agreed, there are issues with many things but this one can be easily addressed by Carnival. Not sure why I am expected to not voice my concerns, but you are allowed to do so at your leisure. It appears many are defending the exclusivity of this area for their own benefit. As many have stated, not all families are misbehaved, unruly, or inattentive to passenger needs. Why should my family be punished for a few bad apples, a security concern, or other bad parents? All the issues you stated above are being addressed with John Heald and Carnival. I always follow thru with my concerns!

This has been an amusing thread.  I happen to enjoy being able to utilize the Havana pool area at night in the peace and quiet.  I chose to be in that area and I chose to pay extra.  I chose to not have little kids running around doing what kids do.  That said, if you don't like Carnival's policy, go elsewhere.  Looking forward to the Carnival Vista, aft wrap on 2/2/20.

  5. I was on the Carnival Vista, TA from Spain to New York when the people operating the water slide didn't check to see that I was off the slide when they let someone else slide down on top of me.  I am around 135 pounds and the person following me was 200 pounds.  I know the weight was accurate because it was my husband.  I slowed down for whatever reason and he not only hit me but went flying past me and when he got out he was looking for me.  I was taken to medical after I changed clothes where I sat for 3 hours.  There were people with colds that were ahead of me.  I had bruises and severe neck strain.  But, I lived.  I will not ever ride the slide again.  I was lucky.  It could have been much worse.  I missed formal night and my lobster.  That was even worse than getting plowed over by my loving husband.  I think he felt worse than me.  And I will not post my bruised body pictures.    I didn't let it ruin the rest of my cruise.  I just stuck with safer activities.

  6. We were just on the Breeze out of Galveston on 2/12/2017, this was #17 with Carnival. Our room steward asked is we wanted morning or evening cleaning, I asked if we cold have both and the said no problem. I also asked if we could have some towels, there were none in the bathroom and a robe. Again, no problem. We dressed for dinner, came back to the room and the bed was folded back, and the beach towels we used were wet in the bathroom floor from when we showered. No bath towels, no robes.

I walked around to find our steward and went to take some towels off the cart and that person told me he would tell my steward to bring us some. 10:30, no towels, no robes. I called guest services and explained I would like to take a shower in the morning with dry towels. We got the towels at 11 pm, but still no robes. I am trying to keep humor in mind.

First sea day. Breakfast, wander around all morning, come back at 1pm and no dry towels, no robes and no clean room. Except, we had a towel animal on the bed. I guess the towel animal messed up the clean bed and decided to sit there and say, See What I Did!!!

My hubby was pissed by this time. Mainly because we still hadn't gotten the ice bucket filled yet from the request on Sunday. Then we had one day with no water and another day with no hot water. Awesome. Did we remove our tips? No, but it's the first time we didn't tip the room steward extra.

  7. We were on the Vista TA and had 7461. I was very disappointed because there were only 2 closets compared to 3 for every one else on the aft. Also no couch but we had a coffee table crammed between the bed and the window. It was useless. The reason for disappointment was that Carnival moved us from our original cabin on the back because it was changed to handicap after I booked on the first day the bookings opened up. I was assured by Carnival that the cabin was exactly the same. I fell for that until I checked out the one next door and I was very upset to say the least. I was basically told it was my fault. I should have checked out more ahead of time. But, I wouldn't pay the price increase for the "Havana". It just doesn't seem worth the extra money. We were upgraded because of the changing to our aft deck to Havana.

  8. We were scheduled to fly home from London after getting off the Splendor the day before Ike it. Houston was closed so we managed to get a flight into Dallas, rented a car and arrived in Houston 15 minutes before the lights went out and the storm hit. Not the way we wanted to end our cruise but it was still an adventure. One good thing, we had no traffic at all driving I-45 from Dallas, and no highway patrol. Everyone was going the opposite direction.

  9. Apparently they have changed drastically on their offerings. We have always gotten at least $50.00 casino cash when we boarded, not on "gambling" cruises either. Just did the Breeze on 8/7/16 and had the $50.00. I called this week and emailed because of the Vista on 10/21/16 to see is we would be qualified for casino cash or anything.

Nope! They claim they don't do it anymore except on the gambling cruises. I emailed again and explained the Breeze was just a regular cruise and I was told thank you for your inquiry and we hope to see you again.

It's not a biggie but when you get something free when you board it just makes you feel special. I guess I'll send my self some flowers to the cabin and sign the card from my loving sweetie. Make my husband wonder. lol

  10. Great trip, no real complaints.

To start with, we are platinum so we did get a few perks like early boarding and other things. We arrived at the terminal Sunday morning at 10:15 and were on the boat in our cabins at 11:30. Awesome start already.

Our daughter, her husband and 2 kids were with us. I booked my husband in one cabin with son-in-law and one grandson (12) and myself in the other cabin with daughter and remaining grandson (14). This solved 2 problems. They got to early board with us and hubby and son-in-law could get the Cheers beverage card. I don't drink nor does my daughter and I couldn't see both of us having to pay for something we wouldn't use. We had connecting cabins which was another plus. I got an extra card for hubby so he didn't have to got thru the other cabin to reach me. I know, kind of confusing already, but, that's life. Our balcony divider was also opened so we had a bigger balcony space.

Our room stewards were fantastic. They must hide behind a wall because every time we left and came back, the room was cleaned. Kept the ice bucket full and always fresh towels.

The muster drill went on forever it seemed. They kept paging people who apparently weren't were they were suppose to be. They scan your sign and sail card now when you

go into the theater or wherever you go for the drill. But it was over after about 30 minutes and we sailed away.

We had early dining, Blush Dining Room, and was next to the back window. Great view. Our waiter was Michael and Natalia. Both very attentive and did everything possible to make you happy. Our bartender in the dining room was from Turkey, can't remember his name but he was awesome. Very talkative and sweet. There was a large table next to us with about 12 people dining. They never showed up until 7pm for 6pm dining. I felt sorry for our waiter because he had another group at 8:15 each night. I felt like the maitre d' should have sent them to the lido deck. But, that's just my opinion.

We watched two of the movies at the Seaside Theater, always lots of fun. There was never a problem finding loungers during the day anywhere on the boat. Didn't notice a lot of chair hogs. Very strange. Even the Serendity Deck wasn't crowded.

The casino: We played a lot of roulette. Our favorite dealer was Maggie. She was just a blast to be around.

Waterslide: Only me and the grandsons did this. Couldn't get the others to join in the fun.

Ropes Course: The one day we went to do it the weather turned bad and they shut it down right before we got on. But I've done it in the past, I just hate we didn't go back later.

Didn't make it to the Comedy Club so I can't say anything about them.

Production shows, Flick and 88 Keys. They were both entertaining. But the most entertainment was in the Fun Times about Flick. When you first look at it the lettering kind of runs together and it looks like "F-ck". I died laughing. I thought my mind was in the gutter until I showed it around and I wasn't the only one thinking that way. They need to change the font style.

Jamaica: We did Blue Hole with Peat Taylor tours. I highly recommend them. O'Neil was our guide and he went above and beyond. There was 12 of us in his van and the other family was a bit obnoxious. When we were on our way back in we stopped for lunch. He came over and told us he was starting the van if we wanted to go ahead and get in before the others. They weren't happy when they got back and saw that they got delegated to "the back of the bus". You just don't hog the a/c vents when you have people sitting behind you is all I am going to say on this one.

Cayman: We went by taxi to 7 Mile Beach to Calico Jack's. They have lounge chairs, umbrellas, jet skis, food drinks and everything else.

Cozumel: We did Carnival's Secret River excursion. You ride the ferry to Playa De EL Carmen and then a short van ride to Secreto River. Don wet suits, hard hat and lamp. This excursion is well worth what you pay. And you get a good lunch afterwards. You are in the caves for about 1 1/2 hours, floating and semi-crawling thru the water seeing the sights.

The only bad thing on the cruise was the kids which apparently were left on their own. We have always cruised during the year so we have never had that many kids on the boat with us. There was 1,200 kids on board. The last couple of days security was cracking down on them because of the running and elevator pranks. But, that's the parents fault too.

  11. I got lost reading all the comments back and forth, but did the OP realize there is a dining room that also has food? If it was on her postings I missed it.

Also, I don't know if she was in port but she could have gotten bitten by those horrible little sand gnats. I did in May in the BVI and that night I looked like I had leprosy or small pox. I was covered with bites and thought I would itch and scratch until I had to sit on my hands. And we were on a sail boat away from land and a drug store. But, then again it could have been bed bugs but my DH who slept next to me for 7 nights didn't get one single bite. I guess I am sweeter. lol

  12. We stayed at Arc La Rambla in 2012 for the Magic TA and it was great! Had a front room with a little balcony. The only drawback was that when my husband woke up early, didn't realize it was 3am, he went out to smoke a cigar downstairs. He was asked by 2 lovely ladies if he wanted to party. He politely told them no and came back upstairs.

We are staying there again this year for the TA. We are taking the train to Marseilles on the 17th from Barcelona for 2 days before heading back to Barcelona for the cruise. I wanted to see Chateau D'ffe.
