Can you use your soda card on the private island? DH drinks alot of soda and no water. If you rent the cabana and only have 2 people do you get the same amount of soda and water as if you had the 4 they have charged you for?

You pay $215 or $225 for the cabana.. that is for 4 people including drinks and snacks for 4

You will get enough for 4

Never been to HMC before, but it looks like you are trasported to shore by a ferry boat? Is it correct? If so, is it possible to get on and off the cruise ship as you like or is there just one trip to shore and one back to the ship? Thanks

Yes its a ferry and it runs back and forthe... You can go back and forthe as many times as you want

I've brought inexpensive inflatables to public beaches on cruises before, but I've never been to a "private" island, so didn't know if I could. If no one knows for sure, I'll try it and see what happens!:p

Hi Toni...you are right; they said that at the excursion desk (just get it for four)(we actually only had two, told them 4 because we knew some friends would stop by)...anyway; I think they only charge over 4 to try to have a little control...by no means is this stealing...lol ...geesh, I stopped by a few cabanas...lol...eek yours in fact...maybe I should've paid! Ok..sry..didn't mean to be mean...By the way...Lisa....I think you miss HMC!!!!:)

There was actually a warning in the Capers about the skeeters. They directed people who were concerned to buy Off from the front desk. It was $10 a can. If you're concerned, bring your own.

Really? I never saw it in ours.. will look again.. Never felt one either!!

OHHH WAIT>> they did have those electric mosquito killing machines along the paths... The ones that kill 'em for 1000's of feet/yards around.. and cost like $2000g

My friend just returned from her cruise and was at HMC. She complained that she got alot of mosquitoe bites while at the bar b Q. Has anyone else had this problem.

 

Ill just bring along some Off when Im there.

 

Is the snorkeling any better on the excursion? Do they actually take you to a reef? Anyone know?

 

Is it hard to find shade other than with that clamshell? I need shade.

Not sure why this is not stealing, it sure fits my definition. "Taking something that does not belong to you" If you can not afford to pay the cost, then use the cabana. You are stealing from the company"s stock holders.

The other two guests brought their own drinks.. All they did was sit at a table..

Tell me something.. if you rent a beach house Can you not invite others for a drink? You paid the rental, you paid for the drinks, the drinks are yours to do what you want with if you so chose..

It's not like they slept over

I had asked earlier if anyone knew if you had to get off the ship quick to get a lounge in the shade, but I think my post got lost in the cabana discussion. Does anyone know if the chair hogs are running wild at HMC?

Also, what if I brought my own inflatable raft? Anyone done that?

We had the dips and chips and some fruit.. (apples.. and ?? )

The bars are ran by the cruise ship and costs are the same. Use your S&S card. There are a few shops ran by whoever(not Carnival) and they require cash. You MUST have cash to buy the trinkets sold in the few shops on HMC.

The excursion desk is open at 12:00? It's there that you rent, not at pursers desk at this time. Am I correct? Just wanted to make sure. I don't remember excursion desk being open then on previous cruises, but I may be mistaken.

When the Excursion Desk is not open, you may book at the Pursors desk..:)

Got in line at noon, desk opened at 12:30.

 

The cost was $225 for 4 of us. (Original post said $215??). Transportation by truck is provided to the cabanas AND you are offered the first tender to the island.

 

We had Voilet #15, the last cabana in the row. It was a bit of a walk to the bathrooms, but not bad and believe me I hate walking too far. ;)

 

Snorkeling was about nil on the beach, we saw about 3 fish.

 

Food served in the cabana was 2 large bottles of water, 6 cans of soda which they will ask what kind when you sign up. A melon tray, chips and salsa/guacamole/sour cream. Vege tray with dip and oranges.

 

We thought it was well worth it.

Hubby and I decided on a clamshell since it is too much money for just the two of us (if we meet another couple that want to split it, maybe....)

Where do we book a clamshell? On the ship also?

I'm glad to hear there is shade. Are there any umbrellas? Are there hammocks other than those for the cabanas. Do you have to out really early to get a chair? Thanks

You can use the hammocks.. you dont need to rent a cabanna to do so..

There are the clamshells that are $15 for the day :)

Well if you have small kids , I can see the benefit.

Other than that cabanas are to SMALL and over priced.

HMC is nice with plenty of shade ;).

 

Tip of the year , Don't waste your money !!

I wish we were headed there tomorrow morning. People just can't imagine what an absolute paradise it is and there really is no describing it. I keep looking at my photo from our cabana.:(

I know! I used to be obsessed with Horseshoe Bay.. HMC.. certainly is just as grand!

Are you able to reserve the cabana before sailing or do you have to do it on the ship?

no you can only reserve them on board.. we tried ! LOL

Can you snorkel off the beach at HMC?

Yes you can .. The Cabana rental includes snorkel equipment that will be in the cabanna..no we did not use it as we dont snorkle..

I can not tell you how good the snorkling is or isnt sorry!

If you think the Aqua park is anything like the brochure, don't expect it to be(5/30/09 sailing). Sand is awesome. Fresh water stations/mist stations near aqua park did not work. Food was pretty good. Loved the jerked chicken. Make sure you don't mess up your excursion times on the tickets they give you:((my fault).

 

I liked Castaway Cay better other than the sand:D.

All the mist stations that we saw worked !! thankfullY!:)

Also note.. we did the paddle boats..

Be careful to regard how the Ladies fill out the receipt!.. We rented one paddleboat for two which was supposed to be $39/hour per couple

She wrote 2x Paddleboat.. I assumed that meant a two person paddleboat..

We returned the paddleboat in less than an hour.. could not take it.. lol

The receipt does not list time in / time out ;)

So when we returned to the cabin and I checked the S&S account on the TV Menu.. it read $78!!

I went to Guest Services and they explained they read the receipt as two boats.. I explained.. they removed it with no questions asked..

So just watch your receipts!!

There seems to be so many questions and suggestions regarding HMC.. I figure we can centralize it like the All Things Miracle.. etc. .et al

My suggestion is RENT the CABANNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

6 through 12 are on the quieter end of the beach and centrally located to restrooms and the luncheon area.

We were having 6 at our Cabanna.. the additional cost is $45-50 pp.. The Shore Excursion person TOLD US not to add the additional people.. as it was not worth the $45-50 pp for a couple drinks and chips..

Nothing else is brought to the cabanna.. and the Luncheon area is near by and food and drink is easily picked up and brought over.. and there is always bar service!

The beach is like baby powder~!
