  1. I had often wondered the same thing until it actually happened. We were leaving out of New Orleans for a cruise and it was when Tropical storm Lee was hitting the area. We caught the last flight into New Orleans before the airport closed. NCL called our emergency contacts, which were both sets of parents to let them know that the cruise would be delayed for two days. Even though we were made aware of it, it was nice that our parents got the heads up while we were traveling and not able to communicate with them yet.

  2. I am strongly considering taking the Sky weekend cruise before my Jade cruise which leaves on a Monday. My husband is not totally sold on the idea. I am sure there are those that have done something similar. Trying to if there is a negative side to this....

  3. I have cruised solo a few times before getting married. On those cruises I have met so many wonderful people that I still keep in touch with years later. As much as I love traveling with my husband, we have different interests. Sometimes it is nice not to have to worry about making sure he is entertained. But it definitely is a benefit if there is an emergency and someone is there with you that has your interests at heart.

  4. I was in and still am in the same situation where I need to have half way decent wifi when cruising. I am on call 24/7 for a hospital and need to be able to respond or take care of matters. I have been able to successfully process payroll using Remote Desktop on all of my cruises, the last one being on the Breakaway in May. That being said I make sure that my staff knows that my response may not be as quick as if I am at home. I did not want any obstacles to stop me from cruising!!! :D

  5. My now husband proposed on a cruise. It was such a surprise. It was on a cruise to the Mexican Riveira. After what I thought was a normal evening, we got to the cabin and there were flowers everywhere. I was so fixated on the fact that I thought the room steward made a mistake and delivered flowers to the wrong cabin because I did not think that my husband would have done such a thing. While I was going on and on about this, my husband said: "can you be quiet so I can do this!!!" I was speechless and did not say anything for a good ten minutes which is unusual for me!!! I thought this was so great to get engaged while cruising because we both love cruising so much. We did the Mexican Riveira cruise for our honeymoon 6 months later. Wonderful memories we still talk about 6 years later.
