    Hello,

A group of friends are talking about taking an Alaskan cruise next year. Some in the group have difficulty with walking and are looking to go on a smaller ship. Would any of you out there in Cruise Critic land no of a smaller ship that cruises to the ports in Alaska?

I would appreciate any help you can offer me!

We used this company and were very pleased. Our guide was Isaac and I would ask for him again.

It shows that the available tickets are 70.  Is that how many could be on a tour?

  5. Hello,  I would like to know if it is possible to get a tour at the port w/o going thru your cruise ship.  The ports are Portland, England, COBH for Cork, Ireland, Belfast, Ireland and Greenock in  Scotland. I haven't cruised for 3 years due to covid but before then one could always pick up a tour getting off your ship and I just don't know if that is possible or wise for these ports.

I would appreciate any advice you can give.

    Thanks

  6. Thanks for all of the suggestions and I certainly will  take into consideration the driving conditions.  I am from Northern Minnesota and am pretty much use to whiteouts, black ice and ridiculous cold.  However, that said  am I making a mistake in trying to see the country at the end of April? This was going to be a side trip on my way to Denmark, which I know, it isn't the warmest then either!!!!

  7. Hello, I will be traveling to Iceland the end of April and could use suggestions on where to stay.  I know that I want to go to the Blue Lagoon and probably be fairly close to the airport.  I also know that I don't want a shared bathroom!! I usually find a tour but am wondering if renting a car is a better option. I am just starting to work on this and any suggestions would be helpful.  I will  be there only for 3 days and want to get the most in.

    Thanks in advance!

  8. Will be in Copenhagen a few days before cruise and need suggestions on where to stay .  Looking for something not too far from Port but close enough to pick up tours, etc.

Also, since my flight leaves at  9:40 I believe I'll need to spend an extra night there after cruise is over due to limited time in getting to airport.  Any suggestions on where to stay near airport?

    Thank you for any suggestions!

Hello ,  Would like to know if there are any single cruisers on the Azamara Journey sailing to Cuba on Feb 19th, 2019

Whoops, made a mistake!! Don't sail until the 20th from Miami to Cuba.  Just anxious I guess😂

  10. Hello, So much fantastic information on this , have really enjoyed reading it all!

I will be traveling on the Journey in Feb. I've tried calling Azamara a number of times and have been put on hold for over an hour each time so I 'm hopeing someone will know the answer to my questions. I would like to know if they have set dining times with the same table partners every night. My reservation says open dining and I'm wondering if that is the only type they have other than the specialty restaurants. The reason I ask is on other cruise lines whenever I don't have set dining I've often found that people don't want an outsider to sit with them and have been placed at a table by myself! That's a little awkward and I end up at the buffet with a book and a glass of wine!

Also, do many single people go on these cruises? I've checked my Roll Call and they are all couples who I will meet at the Meet and Greet.

Thanks in advance for any information you can give me.

  11. Getting off ship and then a 12 hour layover. I have reserved a room at Aerotel Transit Hotel which is in Terminal 1. How hard is it to get to Terminal 3 from there? Also, can I leave the airport after I check in to Aerotel, by then I will have gone through Immigration and not certain if they care if I go through a second time.

    thanks for your help.

  12. Hello, Being from the US I'm use to tipping and always generous when I receive good service. I've been reading about what is proper in Asia and have seen mixed answers. Some say it's insulting and not expected while others say yes, tip!

My main concern is while in Vietnam I will be on a group tour for 10 days with different tour guides each day. Do I tip them and if so what is the acceptable amount? What about drivers (not taxi drivers)who meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel?

Once I get on my cruise and take tours, are the tour guides tipped in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore?

I've also read that US money is accepted, which makes no sense to me, is that correct?

Thank you in advance for any advice you can pass on to me, it will be appreciated.

  13. Hi, I am traveling in Vietnam for 10 days before I join my cruise. I've already applied for my VOA papers. My question is how much is the visa at the airport. I've read anywhere from $35 to $135USD. I have also read that this must be paid for in cash, what I don't know if it's Vietnamese money or USD. They claim if you don't have it in cash you don't get in since they don't take charge cards.

Thank you in advance for any advice you can send my way!

  14. Hello,

When my husband was alive we went on quite a few cruises and chose anytime dining once it was offered by the cruise lines. My question is what is better for a single cruiser? Since he passed I've been on one cruise by myself and chose anytime. This was on Royal Caribbean and I had requested a table to share. Many evenings there wasn't anyone who wanted to share and was shown to a table by myself. I walked out and went to the food court instead. The set time dining is nice that you have others to sit with, if they come, however, the hours that are scheduled are either too early or too late!

Has anyone had any experience with this? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

  15. I'm traveling on my own and have been checking into Vietnam Unique tours. I would go for 8-10 days and do a group over private tour. Anyone been on any of their tours and if yes, would you do a group or private if traveling on own? Do you recommend them?

    Thanks much!

  16. Hello, I've been asking a ton of questions and can't tell you how I appreciate all the help.

I have found an 8 day tour starting in Hanoi ending in Ho Chi Minh City with Viet Nam Unique Tours. I was wondering if anyone has useed them for a tour for this length of time, or at all.

    Thanks again,

    Maris

  17. Hello, I would like to know your thoughts on single travel on a 2 day cruise from Halong Bay. Would hate to miss this beautiful area, but believe the cruises are mostly made up of couples. I can get a single room so that is not a problem, just don't want to feel out of place.

Thank and have a great day!

  18. Will have a 15 hour layover in Singapore. My choices are reserving a room at Aerotel in T1 for 12 hours or going to Singapore Air First class lounge in T3. During this time I more than likely will leave airport but need a place for some R&R. Has anyone been to this hotel ? What are your thoughts with hotel vs lounge.

    Thanks for your thoughts
