So is they price they show on the web site for the alcohol package include the tax and gratuity or do you have to add that to the price shown?

When I booked recently there was a 10% tax and 18% gratuity added to the advertised price. So the advertised price of $64.99 per day ended up at $83.19 per day.

  2. Something I don't understand. People talk about a basic price for a drink plus gratuity. But when I'm being quoted for a drinks package, I'm being quoted basic price plus tax plus gratuity. If I pay as I go is it basic plus gratuity or basic plus tax plus gratuity?

  3. For an Oasis of the Seas cruise in September next I have been quoted $1433 for 2. It started out at $79.99 each per day each but with tax and gratuity added it ends up at $102.43 each per day. As a beer drinker I would need to drink about 11  drinks per day to cover this. My wife, who drinks wine, would need to drink around 7.  As her daily max is 4,' I will need to drink another 4/5 drinks just to break even. Don't think its a good idea for us.

Maybe only inside staterooms are available for this particular cruise.

    Please provide

    • Website (country)

    • Destination

    • Date of cruise

    • Port of embarking

    • Ship

.. so that your issues can be analyzed.

Ireland Mediterranean June 2024 Barcelona World Europa

  5. Sorry for not being online to answer until now. I live in Ireland. I am interested in travelling on World Europa in June 2024 7 nights. When I try to get prices from the website all I can get is inside ststeroom.

Once you choose your cruise and offer, it defaults to an inside cabin. There should be an arrow on the right of the screen that will move you to other cabin types - Outside View, Balcony, Suite, etc.

No right hand arrow for me. Inside only. Been trying to get info from MSC on messenger. No luck there either.

  7. I know that when onboard you can book the drinks package for the remainder of the cruise ( with number of days restrictions). What I would like to know is, is it possible to do the same before the cruise. For example we are planning a 12 day cruise. Can we, before we sail,  book the package for , say, the last 8 or 9 days ?

  8. We were in one on deck 14 on Oasis in September. Didn't hear any overhead noise. Loved the view to Central Park ( found it far more interesting and enjoyable than looking at the ocean) and the music in the evenings. No issue with heat and very simple to pull the curtains when dressing/undressing. Cheaper too.

Too many people rely on products like hand sanitizer to protect them from illness. There is no such thing as a sterile public environment.  If you’re that paranoid don’t eat in the buffet.

Thank you for your scientific input.

Living in a land of lousy hygiene, and since most food related illness is from contaminates we have contacted with our own hands, my wife and I wash our hands whenever possible and always carry our own sanitizer. My question is, beyond the food servers and kitchen staff, why be concerned with others' hand washing. I don't plan to have other guests handle my food?

if you're in a buffet, they will be handling the tongs you need to transfer food to your plate.

What about the passengers who physically cannot disinfect their own hands (stroke sufferers). Do they get a free pass or do you expect a member of staff to disinfect their hands for them,  possibly embarrassing the passenger?

Yeah there will always be exceptions. Doesn't mean the others shouldn't do it though.
