  1. Hey here's a teaser for those flying ATN from PPT to LAX in economy. This was my meal 2 years ago and last I heard it's still what is served. I give you Tahitian Head Cheese. Enjoy!1058578849c89ba42c570487f7132a5d.jpg

    Twin,

We have been fortunate enough not to have been served this dish on any ATN flight.

Don't know why you get such special treatment. 😉

I'll let you know after this trip.

  2. Her name was Cynthia....found out from Raina....

Yes, her name is Cynthia and her husband was the Chief Purser for Air Tahiti Nui. I believe they are both retired now. She is in fact Hawaiian if my memory is correct. I remember her telling the story of how Marlon Brando kept calling her "Sylvia". She had some great stories. Very pretty lady.

  3. So, is this a perk? When does it kick in ? Or is it provided in a haphazard manner.

I don't know how it works but it sure is great when it happens. We were invited to have dinner with the new cruise director Frederic, who just started in December. He is doing a fine job in my opinion. Also had dinner with Captain Toni. He is really very nice and always has interesting and entertaining stories to tell. We had a magician named Gustavo from Brazil who was AMAZING! I hope he will be back for the 2017 Repeater's cruise. This guy is good. Oh well, back to reality. Better get saving for next year.

  4. Hi Folks,

We recently returned from our 6th Paul Gauguin cruise (not counting the Tere Moana) and were treated very nicely. We booked directly with PG. It doesn't matter what deck you are on as far as the little extras go. We happened to be in cabin 408. (Yes Emdee, you have our cabin for the Repeater's cruise) lol. Upon embarkation, we received a beautiful flower arrangement, bottle of champagne on ice, Godiva chocolates, 250 free internet minutes and 4 pieces of dry cleaning each. Every day of our 10 day cruise we received canapés, usually delivered between 4 and 5 pm. In my opinion, PG does their best in rewarding repeat customers.

We always try to go in a few days early and stay on a couple of days after the cruise. It would be nice if PG did away with the deviation fee, especially since you are staying at one of their properties. As a repeating guest, this would be a nice benefit and also help soften the blow especially for Canadians and our declining dollar. That's my 2 cents.

  5. Wrapping up our 6th PG cruise and it has been amazing. The staff and crew go above and beyond to please you. The meals have been delicious, non stop bar service, afternoon tea. Our room was kept spotless and all the staff seem to love what they do. It's like we become part of their family while we are here. It's been fun hanging out with fellow repeaters like Twin and Friscorays. Enjoyed meeting Miriam and family and many more. We loved our two days at Motu Mahana and the Bora Bora Motu. We saw whales in Tetiaroa and dolphins in Rangiroa. I got a few more black pearls. How lucky are we! Can't wait to come back again. Soon I hope.

Just to name a few, we had Rudolpho bring our breakfast in the morning. Christian was our waiter most nights. We had Florizel, Ryan, Eduardo, Ivan, Rey. I wish I could remember all the names because they sure remember ours. From Reception, to the travel desk, to Rizzi in the spa, Elmo, Efren, our cabin stewardess Mary Grace, the Gaugines and Gaugins. They are all true professionals and a credit to Paul Gaugin Cruises. It's why we keep coming back.

  6. I never expected to get that close to the whales. It was spectacular. They really put on a show for us. It was the highlight of the trip for me. Yes as Miriam says we came back soaking wet from the rain. A nice hot shower, some food, a good restful sleep and we are ready to go again. Can't wait to see all the familiar faces on board the Paul Gauguin.

  7. How about "Come Sail Away" by Styx ? Cant wait for this cruise. 9 weeks to go. We look forward to meeting y'all and especially seeing some great people we met from past PG cruises. Not to forget the AMAZING crew who warmly welcome us back each time.

  8. Hey Tiki & Mrs. Tiki,

Thanks for sharing the photos. Glad you guys had a great trip. What a difference a year makes. When we boarded the Tere Moana last January, it was no where near being ready. They had not worked out the details in time for sailing.

Sometimes taking the inaugural cruise (2nd one actually) just doesn't work out. I would not do that again. Its back to the Paul Gauguin and French Polynesia for us. Are you joining us? Come on . . you know you wanna.

  9. Ron is very ill and in France with his shop closed for now.

When you are buying a strand and spending thousands you want to buy from someone who has the quality.

We have bought a number of pearls from Ron and Robert wan but bought the strand from Tahia.

    Emdee,

So sorry to hear that Ron Hall is ill. We have been to his shop many times and have purchased a single black pearl ring, 2 sets of ear rings and a pendant. Ron was our first introduction to black pearls in Tahiti. The last couple of times we visited the shop we dealt with his lovely daughter Vi. Thanks for letting us know. We wish him well.
