We are cruising from Southampton later this year. Baxter Labs will be delivering the necessary fluids to the ship. We have already paid Baxter for the delivery BUT the agent indicated that there may be an additional charge incurred at the port by the port authority. Does anyone have any information on this. We have spent hours on the the phone with the cruise line and can't get an answer.

We just got back from a four night cruise on Disney dream out of New York City. I was very worried about us not getting our supplies. We paid the shipping and handling fee that Baxter charged, and the items were in the room when we got on the ship. So far I have not been charged anything else. I guess it depends on how long you are going . My husband did well with his peritoneal dialysis . It just was a little harder than it was when he was not on dialysis. We had the most problem with his scooter. Baxter did not confirm anything with me like they said they would and it was a little annoyed at that. When I asked them where they delivered his supplies, and when they told me, they left them with Mr. Gangway. I was like what the heck, there’s no such thing as Mr gangway , but they insisted . As soon as I checked in on the ship, I got a supervisor.

  2. This will be our first time sailing since my husband started dialysis in 2017. He is on peritoneal dialysis and I just had his manuals ordered for four days on Disney cruise out of nyc.  I’m very nervous about it , but we have held off long enough, is there anything I should be aware of? Baxter is supposed to be delivering to the ship, but I had to pay $300 shipping fee and it is nonrefundable if for some reason we cannot go. It is only a four day cruise to start and we are taking three extra boxes of manuals, do you think that will be enough?

  3. After canceling the cruise several months ago, we decided to book another cruise, out of New York City which is closer to us. Still worried about his PD solutions , so we have decided for him to do manuals and since its only a four nighter, we are hoping we can bring the solutions on board in a collapsable wagon. I don't want his solutions out of sight. We have booked Disney dream for October . Now I'm worried after six years of waiting to cruise again, i bet this will be the year he will get called for the kidney transplant and then we would have to cancel again because after that, you have to wait a year to cruise . Its so hard to plan lately , but praying this works out. Its not until October , so we have time. Thanks for all your responses , any info is helpful .

Just cancelled a cruise.  We were thinking about cruising on Pd , But we had to sign a lease basically saying if the supplies do not make it to the pier You are s@ out of luck . We have not Cruised for almost 6 years since my husband started pd . He was going to do manuals. We were waiting for him to get a kidney, but that is not happening and that is why we booked the cruise. We were all happy about it until we got that form we had to sign and then decided to cancel . I’d be too nervous for my husband and not only that , it’s stupid that you have to get a covid test two days before you board , but people get on planes to get on the ship the day before and are spreading covid anyway.  It just don’t make sense and it still don’t feel safe to me . It also cost a few hundred dollars and if you get dented boarding , you don’t get refunded for the pd Supplys   It’s not worth my husbands life . Going to wait till things are feeling more safer

Thank you. Of course we have notified all of the appropriate people at the Access department.
if you’re unfamiliar with PD, manual exchange requires 4 bags of dialysate per day. Each bag contains 2000 ml of dialysate. It is simply not possible to carry that amount of product. Baxter delivers by truck directly to the cruise ports. They have a specific department that handles this kind of delivery - in conjunction with The cruise line access department. They don’t use a third party shipper.
I was just checking to see if their service continues to be reliable and prompt.

  6. Here's the official warning sign.

Just back on the Explorer. Maybe I missed it but I did not see any confiscated sea glass when coming back on the ship, or any warning signs that it was prohibited.

When did this happen? Can you post some official notice of the law?

I saw a video with a women allowd to take the glass...this don't look like

The same beach I saw on u tube there were no signs on the video , I will see when I get there

  7. Philip 217 posted once that stewards find used condoms on balconies all the time-so maybe you would not- but many would. I hope they tip their stewards well.

You know I don't care who has balcony sex,( however, I do mind people posting and bragging -that should be private between the couple)

What I find disgusting is those who have posted that they have done it in the PUBLIC hot tubs. (Look up the "Balcony Club" thread in the floataway lounge)

One person actually bragged that they had done it on the helicopter pad of Mariner of the Seas with the ship's officers watching. So yes, many DO want to put on a show for others and YES-they get off on it- and I am positive they are not worried about leaving bodily fluids behind. Another very good reason for washing my hands lots and using that sanitizer gel they have everywhere. I am more concerned about that then I am of noro virus.

I agree with you totally. You know they say people that brag about it are the ones not getting it!:D These posts are a total turn off to those of us who have to sail on the same ships. I'm sorry if I offended the people who want to have "Sex " or "Romance as they call it" on their balconys, but you are offending all of the others who like to keep....personal time with our loved ones private. When we are on these ships....they don't belong to us, its not like your in your own backyard..that is a different case.

  8. Seeing someone's hand extending past the railing on their balcony is not the same as seeing ON TO their balcony, which can only be done if you make the effort to look into their private space. Would you do that at someone's residence? If your neighbor built a fence between your houses that you couldn't see over, would you set up a ladder and climb up to 'say hello'? I hope not!! The dividers between the balconies are there for PRIVACY and should be respected.

Of all the balconys i have been on I have always had someone lean over mine.

  9. I do not understand your comment or comparison.

When we are on our balcony, we can not see ANYONE else unless I go to the rail and lean over, and then I can only see the people next door, or other people hanging over the balcony. I can not see other peoplesitting i their chairs, or whatever.

If I am in the hallway, everyone walking up and down the corridor can see me.

No comparison. The balcony is very private.

Not when your neighbor leans over to say hello to you. On all the NCL ships i have been on, you can look over very easy and see the next balcony....actually the people next to me were smoking and i can see there cigarette and hand over the balcony from mine. There is a big space.

  10. My wife and I are planning on a very romantic cruise on the Star in January. We are hoping to take our romance onto the balcony on several occasions. Will we have privacy or should we be more discreet in our romancing?

let me ask you a question....why would you want anyone and everyone to see you and your wife doing private stuff on the balcony of a ship? As far as I'm concerned, if your going to do private stuff on the balcony, you my as well just do it outside the doors of your room........
