    Hey fordpickup,

Just curious, what ever happened with your real time bidding?  I sail on the Jewel on Oct 3 and have gotten the email.  How long was your bidding period?

I can't find any emails about the real time bidding. It looks like about 10 days out from when I posted the comment to sail date. We didn't bid successfully on any upgrades (we still had a great time though!).

I assume you mean this?   I sailed on CELEBRITY SOLSTICE in 2008 when she was brand new and took this pic.  Honestly I can’t remember if water was running down it or not.  Hard to believe it was 15 years ago, and stranger that I never returned to a Solstice Class ship after that cruise.  I’m finally returning to one next month on SILHOUETTE.

Yes, that area. It's such a strange looking feature.

You are referring to the Conservatory which occupied Decks 10 and 11. The Conservatory had places to sit, a spiral staircase, and (of course) a shop which sold fresh flowers and exclusive (and expensive) artificial floral arrangements by Emilio Robba.  Here is an old archived Cruise Critic thread about Millennium's Conservatory: link

Here are some photos that I took during our only cruise on Millennium in Jun 2007.

The white sign on the counter is a fresh flower price list.  12 roses for $60, 6 roses for $35. Large Bouquet $80, Medium Bouquet $60, Small Bouquet $40.  Corsage $20.  Boutonniere $10. Claritin $5 (okay, I made up the Claritin part).

This is fantastic, thank you so much!!!

  4. I tried to be diligent but I couldn't find this information on the interwebz. Could someone let me know if these two things are true:

    1. On the Millennium there was a florist on Deck 11. If so...are there pictures?

    2. The tiled area on Solstice Class ships between the Mast Bar and Mast Grill was a waterfall (or water feature) (this is the area directly above the pool bar). Again, are there pics?

Sorry, I hear weird "in the before times" rumors and I nerd out and have to know if they're true.

  5. This is the first time I've seen ebay style bidding for a cruise - is this a new thing? Is this for real or is this a way to try to get me to bid more on the same amount of available space (or both)? The T&C say that they can take whatever bid they want. It kind of stresses me out!

Unless one needs to make dining reservations, ( no show reservations on Jewel class ships) or has a hankering to meet up with one of their old friends, Jack Daniels, at a local watering hole, it makes no difference. They'll have all week to explore the ship!

Thanks! We have six people and weren't able to make reservations other than 5.30 or 9.30. I guess getting on early makes sense for us for that one reason.

I was on the Aug 20th sailing but didn't love my options. I requested an Edge sailing from a different section of the L&S Excel file but I've been told that I need to wait 7 business days for approval. Has anyone else experienced that? Have you been denied? I'm really friggin frustrated.

So my lift and shift was denied. Any thoughts on how to figure out what to do next, or if there is someone that can help with this?

  9. I ended up chickening out; I booked a flight for the day after. Google is saying the drive time can be anywhere between 2 and (almost) 3 hours. If the ship gets in at 5 and maybe clears customs in an hour we could do it, but that assumes everything goes fine. I'm still hoping to find out more if anyone has information.

Following.... we got bounced from the Inifinity (July 2nd), and we were able to book the Constellation which arrives in Ravenna. Depending on the answer, we might plan for a stay in Venice. So if anyone has been to Ravenna as a final stop, what is the best mode of tranport to the airport or Venice city?

We're going on the Connie 10 day in Aug. Are you on that one?

No need to be included in the photo, but you are the only one allowed to be in it. How strict they would be if there was someone in the background at such a distance as to be unrecognizable remains to be seen, but the rules do prohibit it.

Now I really wish I would have asked everyone to leave the pool deck when I took photos. Hindsight really is 20/20 😂

We're on the first cruise post refurbishment, lets hope it all goes to plan.

So are we! I originally booked it because it *wasn't* the first cruise post refurb. I guess we're in the same boat?

I sure hope so!  The timing is making me a little nervous though.

We're a mixed group of 16 - very much looking fwd to it.

What part of Michigan are you from?   SW burb of Detroit here.  Our group is mostly from Ohio, but includes us and 1 couple from Fla.

Oh hey, small world! We live in SW Michigan - near the Indiana border. I'm originally from the Ann Arbor area and my husband is from a little town just west of Marine City.
