CC review mentions a 'diy laundry' as a pro. Don't see anything on deck plans. Is this a mistake?

On a Northeast Passage cruise years ago, we stopped at a settlement on Wrangel Island where the locals welcomed us with local foods including muktuk. A woman offered it to me. Trying to be a good guest and trying to eat it, I broke off one of my front teeth. Looking up, I saw the woman smiling at me with a mouth full of gnarly teeth. I knew then that there was no dentist within a thousand miles.

Why are Grand Voyages excluded?

Is there ever a HIA or 'drinks package' other than the wine packages offered to passengers on a Grand Cruise? HAL rep said that something might be offered closer to departure. What about once on board?

We took our kids on a "grown up" cruise years ago. Our ship was berthed next to the Big Red Boat. When it left port, its whistle blasted notes of the tune, "When You Wish Upon A Star". One sad look from my kids told me us that Mom and Dad had picked the wrong ship for kids to be on.

Oh, yes, who could forget the coffee 'boy' who would supply java to passengers on deck with the call 'ALOHA'

Sailed on this ship in the Greek isles with an all Greek crew. Best service on a cruise ship ever by men who chose their line of work as a 'profession'. Of course, this was in the era of flaming desserts, Caesar salads and fish boned at tableside. Our waiter, one of the best, was carrying a tray overhead between tables when a passenger suddenly and abruptly stood, upending the waiters tray. The passenger announced he was a lawyer and was going to sue. The waiter was summarily dismissed. Unfortunately, I say, because the whole event seemed to be preplanned by the passenger.

We sailed on the Constitution when it was with American Hawaii Cruises. All the dining room staff were California surfer boy types. The ship's connection with Grace Kelly and An Affair to Remember always has our interest every time a newsreel of her crossing to marry Prince Ranier or movie is shown on TV. How many ships have such provenance?

We enjoy cruising on luxury lines and always take formal wear for special nights. We have done so in also on Antarctic and Arctic cruises. We will be going on Ponant's Le Boreal trip through the Northwest Passage in August. Based upon your experience with this line and voyage, will other passengers be in formal wear (at captain's welcome and farewell dinners)?

Flaming Baked Alaska Parade

BuzzMuzz, what is your citation for 'countless people seriously burned'? In decades of baked alaska, crepes suzette, cherries jubilee, smoking on board, et.al., how many fires have there been on cruise ships due to these practices?
