In a number of ships the exploration cafe is in the crows nest.
Thanks for pointing that out cruz chic.:D

Correct Lizzie,
On our current roll call, I am approaching 170 people, so rather than use the Crow's Nest for our meet and greets, we are using the Culinary Arts Centre. This way, we have our private space and do not interfere with anyone's enjoyment of the Crow's Nest.
That is a smart idea and should be recommended by HAL for all future larger Meet and Greets. If my stateroom is not made up after breakfast I head to the Crow's Nest for an hour or so and enjoy a good cup of java.

I believe copper us on the world cruise right now so you probably won't get an answer from him.
Thanks, Lorene.:)

Hi John. May 22/16 I'm sailing round trip from Vancouver to Seward on the M.S.Zaandam. I've had approx. 10 cruises to Alaska and have the signatures of 5 different Captains in the Alaska Cruise Handbook. Wondering if I will have someone new. If I do I will take my handbook. Would also like to know who is in the Piano bar as I usually spend every evening there if they are good. Thanks in advance for your reply.:)

Your laundry will be eligible for your wife's 5 * Mariner complimentary status. Just include your items in the bag with hers. No laundry police necessary:) Congrats to your wife, and to you for being so smart to be married to her:):D
Enjoy Sequim when you get there. Bet most CCer's don't know how to pronounce.[/sI:)ZE]

I'm happy to see that others also had fun with this.
I had fun. Thanks for link. I'm Cunard. Wish they would come to Vancouver.
:)

I really don't care if they open it to everyone. It should be. I hate the lido.
Me Too! Really dislike the Lido on embarkation day.
-
Whatever. I will still dress for dinner, and accordingly for "gala" night. And my DH will still wear his suit. We'll be happy. Now can we stop flogging this poor horse?
Hear, Hear!

They ran out of half and half on an RSVP?? Vodka I would understand but half and half?
Thanks for the chuckle, guys.:D

Certainly does sound like an excuse but how can they not have it? Cream is a staple ingredient in a kitchen; it's used for so many applications other than just in one's coffee.:eek::rolleyes:
Perhaps lack of real cream is reason their deserts suck.

Checking in from Crown Bay, relaxing onboard and will soon head out for lunch soon.
Royal Princess is docked next to us and they must be rehearsing something from the midship TV area: they are blasting the same damn snippets of music over and over. Very annoying.
I would also find that very annoying. You are not alone.

My pet peeve on the Nieuw Amsterdam is that they continue to pass milk off as half and half. I know the difference in my coffee. This goes on in the Lido and even Explorers Cafe.
Well that sucks. :( I take my coffee black so thanks for the heads up. Have a neighbour travelling with me on my next cruise and she likes real cream in her coffee.

A very good suggestion. In fact Alaska's Inside Passage runs roughly from Ketchikan to Skagway. While some people may believe the Inside Passage only refers to the area between Vancouver Island and mainland, they are dead wrong.
You really do like calling people out.:(

An oldie but goody. Thanks for the laugh, Stephen.:D:D

It's always been permissible to sing it privately.
I believe we are all aware of that, Ruth!
-
Hi Peter. Thanks for checking in. Wish I was there. Rainy here. Captain Albert is working on your ship and mentioned you all in his blog today. Said you are having a GREAT time. Enjoy the rest of your cruise.:)
-
Thanks for mentioning this. :)
I think a Judge ruled it is public domain and there is no longer copyright on the song. :)
That is what was said on our Canadian news.:D:):D

It was announced today it is now OK to Sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY where ever and when ever. :cool:Wonder how long it will take HAL to catch on.
-
Hi Joanie,
HAL considers Seattle departures as Inside Passage, too, because they sail in the southeast Alaska Inside Passage. While technically true, like you, I consider the true Inside Passage to be on Vancouver departures.
Alberta Quilter, I have never seen a Seattle departure advertised as Inside Passage. I agree with Joanie as being 100% correct.

Haven't noticed it here either.

Solo what things make u smile as opposed to peeve you?

The Assist. DRM telling a man he cannot wear his hat in the dining room.
-
Just back from Panama Canal cruise on the Zuiderdam last week.
On formal or gala night, the gentleman (?) entering the Main Dining Room in front of us was dressed in short sleeve T-Shirt, leather biker-type vest, Croc sandals and a baseball hat. Very nice look  The Assistant Dining Room Manager stopped him and politely asked that he remove his hat before entering which the man did.
We definitely need more Tony Sopranos ...
Three cheers for the Assistant Dining Room Manager.
-
Another pet peeve of mine is men and boys wearing hats in the Main Dining Room. It's bad enough to have to put up with these rude people in the Lido.:( If you come to my home in a hat I ask for them to be removed. How many of you approve men wearing hats in the MDR?
-
Thx for doing that :). I wondering if the people that have the expired clock on are folks that have signatures off so they can't see them. Good reason the keep them on.
You are correct as usual, Cruz chic

It was closed one formal night on the Canal cruise on the Westerdam. Can't remember why and why I went there in first place. Probrably closed for 5 star and president's club. Who knows. Had to go to Ocean bar which I don't care for on the Vista ships:confused:.
