  1. My "knowledge" is that Creme brûlée is already absent from the new menus. There is some discussion that you can request it special, but that seems to be varied. I did not know if you had any new info, but obviously you don't.

  2. Your post confuses me. Creme brûlée is already absent from the new menu that's currently on 4 ships. Why discuss stopping it?

This thread is asking about creme brulee. I answered it with what knowledge I had. If you have more recent info then you too should share your info with others on this thread. I'm sure ppl are very interested in any info offerred and less interested in your confusion

  4. I'm going on the Carnival Dream in August departing from Nola. I've never been on a train before and have a lot of questions Ex: are there any rolling luggage racks at train station to load my luggage on at the curb to carry inside at Memphis and at nola so I can get it outside? Are there taxis at the station at nola? Anyone have any idea approx cost for taxi from nola train station to doubletree hotel? the hotel is across street from Harrahs in the french quarter. Is the dining car on train open all the time or just certain times? Can I get a glass of wine on the train? Any other info or pics appreciated I'm excited about riding the train. Almost as much as the cruise.

  5. I posted on here several times a few months ago & just wanted to report in. I am 5 ft 7 and started dieting to get ready for my cruise on Carnival Dream last August. We booked this cruise in Feb 09. I had a goal of losing 100 pounds by May 1. I`m disappointed to say that I did not meet my goal & not likely to as we cruise in 2 weeks. However I did lose 84 pounds & am now 176. I`m wearing 14 lee jeans & xl capris in the junior dept. At aga 60 I am thrilled. As with all of us this will have to be a lifestyle change & upmost in my mind from now on if I`m gonna keep it off.Except during my cruise I plan on forgetting all diets but using stairs & track. Single most important thing I`ve learned & will share.... Weigh DAILY!! It keeps you motivated & on track. If you cheat one day get right back on track the next & u prob will see no affects from it. Good Luck to all!

  6. One of the easiest diets I ever went on I stayed strictly to 1000 calories a day 6 days of the week. Then on Sunday I ate whatever I wanted. All week long I'd tell myself I can do anything for just 6 days. I just have to do right for 6 days thats all. All week long I'd plan what I was gonna have on Sunday.Mmmmmmmm those hot glazed donuts, ice cream, biscuits & sausage gravy, o o o yeah pancakes, & I saw someone with a milkshake at lunch. But then when Sunday came I couldn't eat all I had planned. After a couple of weeks of this I started adding up the actual calories of what I took in on Sunday during my "cheats" Come to find out I really wasn't cheating much at all. I'd get a few more calories but for the week it'd still show a loss. After time I preferred my cheating spent on more bread than sweets on Sunday or extra fruit which now tasted sweet to me

  7. Don't think I posted last week. Probably forgot on purpose. Worked harder that week than any week since I started & only lost 1 pound!!! Disgusted! Now I'm not dumb & I realize sometimes that just happens but still doesn't make it any more acceptable. Kept plugging away & lost 4 pounds this week. That leaves 72 to go.My cruise leaves May 1 2010 on the new Carnival Dream. I started at 260 & plan on being 160 by April 1st. At 5'7" thats a good weight for me. Cardiologist wants 140 but he not gettin it!! lol. Made some luggage tags to make identifying my luggage easier this time. If I can figure it out I'll post a pic of them at the end of this post.My daughter & I are going on this cruise together then staying another week in Orlando & doing Disney & Universal. She's yall's age ( would kill me if I said exactly)She's lost about 100 & still going . Good Luck to everyone this week. And just remember Nothing you eat in one day will matter if you get right back on your diet plan & keep plugging away at it So don't let 1 day of messing up ruin your week.

  8. Jess you are so right. Talking to you guys got me back on track. I actually walked a mile today. In 2007 I lost 100 pounds & was walking 5 miles a day 6 days a week.Course as soon as cruise was over I put it back on. Not this time,I'm gonna get it off & keep it off. Lost 2 more pounds this week 81 to go.Mt knees are so bad I can't hardly walk. But I remembered last time I had to pray every day. I would talk to Jesus while I was walking & beg for strength to get back home. I always did. So today I started back asking Him for help. Good luck to all of you this week.

  9. I know most if not all of you on this thread are young. I just wanted to throw out some more reasons for losing the weight now why you are young & in pretty good health. As a retired nurse & overweight person I have struggled most of my life. When young I wanted to lose for my looks & to fit in with other people. As I approached middle age I then started using that " for my health" phrase. " I'm not wanting to be skinny any more I just want to be healthy" ( Which was a lie I wanted to look good) Now as a senior there are sad but true other reasons. When you're obese, and thats what I am, we all know it affects our joints, back, feet, & omg my knees. But what the doctors & nurses won't tell you is ..... If you have a stroke or other serious medical problems you are less likely to be able to stay in your own home.A thin person can learn through rehab to conquer a lot of things & remain at home with minimum or no help. If in the unlikely event you end up in a nursing home , hospital, or rehab facility, your care will be inferior. As a nurse I watched heavy ppl be put last to get them up in a chair or walk or bathe. My best friend is in a wonderful nursing home & its the same there. It has nothing to do with the facility being bad. If you weigh 120 they can run down there flip you over take you to the bathroom & go on with their rounds. If you are heavy it kills their backs, they have to wait to get others to help them etc etc. Therefore they dodge you & your room. Had she been thinner we could have managed her at her own home. I think of this with my weight issues all the time. I hope I havent offended anyone I just figured you young girls have never thought of being old. Oh & BTW I'm still plugging away at my diet & I must be honest I still want to look good!!! lol 83# to go

  10. Finally started getting ready for this cruise. 17lbs down & 83lbs to go.243 this morning & will be 160 on April 1st 2010. I'm counting calories & trying to go with 6 meals a day. Stayed on it for a solid week now with no cheating. Today for brk at 6 had 1 pkg quaker lower sugar oats 110 cal. Pre pkg peanut butter crakers for snack at 10, 120cal. Lunch at 1 had a ww dinner for 140 cal. afternoon snak at 5 apple 70 cal . Now that leaves me 560 to pig out tonight. I'm staying at 1000 a day right now for a few weeks til I have control instead of my mind.I read a book that said to feed the skinny you & let the rest fend for itself. If your desired weight is 160 & you weigh 240 to only feed the 160 you. If you are moderately active you need 15 cal a pound to stay at a certain weight. If you're sedentary you only need 10. So I want to weigh 160 so to maintain 160 X 10 I can eat 1600 calories a day.

  11. Thanks for the welcome everyone. Sorry that all of you are having those "time of the month" issues. Thats the one great thing about growing old. That time is GONE!!!!!I've done,WW ( both the point sys. as well as the older system), grapefruit diet, atkins, SB, diet pills, tomato & cabbage soup diet, OA, joined a gym, smootie diet, all vegetables, all proteins, you name it & i've done it. But, the sad but true fact remains....You got to take end less calories than you use..period. No one likes counting calories but all the diet plans out there, when it comes right down to it has you doing just that. If I've learned anything the 2 most important tricks to use when trying to lose weight are: Weigh every day & write down everything you put into your mouth!!. If you start a diary begin with the date, your wt,your measurements( the real ones)Then write down every morsel that goes in your mouth & its calorie content every meal.(snacks too) Don't forget that cough drop & breath mint!!At the beginning of the next week check your progress & record it. Before starting its a good idea to write it all down for about 3 days then look back at it. I did this & was really shocked only I didnt weigh except once a week. Now all of you have inspired me. I'm gonna get out that composition book & start.

I did ok on ww, but soon found out I was like an alcoholic I had to go to the meetings or I'd backslide. I've been known to fast the day b4 weigh in. Course I guess I could use you guys to hold me accountable. Oh yeah one more piece of advice then you can tell me to hush. When you cheat on diet, don't let it stress you out just go right back to it. Nothing you eat in one day is going to affect your loss, if the other 6 you remain steadfast.

  12. Finally!!!! A wt site for me.I'm not young, 58 so I thought maybe the post menopausal site was for me but the more I read...Well I know wt loss is hard for all of us & admittedly harder the older we get. But I'm talking serious weight loss. I'm 5'7'' & 265 lbs.Losing 5 oz. some week does not inspire me.I lost 95 lbs in 2007 & swore that would be my last time to ever have that much weight to lose. ( I've done this several times & true each time is harder)I was motivated by a cruise my son had given me for Christmas. I started dieting & walking 6 days a week in February 07 & by Sept. 07 ,95 lbs gone. But here I am again. Now my Daughter & I are going on the New Carnival Dream May 1 2010. Its suppose to be the largest ship in their fleet. Cardiologist says he wants me at 140. lolol He's a real joker!! I decided that most any diet works for about 2 wks. So what I did was follow a different diet every 2 wks. It changed things up & bored I wasn't.I must admit the walking is what really did it. I found I was doing 5 miles a day alternating walking & a slow jog. My favorite saying is "Skinny is wasted on skinny people...You gotta be fat first to really appreciate it" Even at 58 you tend to have a little more bounce in your step when you reach 170. Now if only I could get started . I go to bed every night saying tomorrow
