  1. With getting your cards at your cabin:

    A) If the cards are locked in your cabin, how do you initially enter your cabin to get them.

    B) If the cards are outside your cabin, what prevents Joe Blow from taking your cards?

That’s a very good point, they’ve used WOW bands on Quantum class but the technology for RFID tags/entry access doesn’t exist on Oasis class.

  2. Apologies in advance if this has been done to death, I’ve searched and can’t find previous threads.

I’m sailing on Symphony in March 19 (would you believe dining is already open for reservations) and I am looking to get a 3 or 4 night dining package. I understand that you pick a standard time you want eg 8pm and that on day 1 you will receive details of the restaurant along with the days. My question is if I don’t like the restaurants I’ve been given can I change them? I absolutely hate Wonderland and if I got that I’d find the whole thing a waste of money. Also is 150 Central Park a restaurant that could be included on the dining package? Can you also change the day if it clashes with a show that’s been pre booked?

Would love to hear what restaurants people have been allocated previous.

    Thanks in advance.

You can change Dining venue and times whenever you’d like, I recall being able to select your first night venue and time. Chops grille and 150 Central Park are very good and we ate at both so many times that they knew us by first name and what we liked.

  3. Wow. This is a major bummer. We booked the Ultimate Dining package for our cruise in December specifically for the $50 credit for a la carte as we are also big sushi eaters and we can easily get through that amount of credit with a starter, soup, and a couple of sushi rolls (the rolls can be VERY expensive). (On the old $30 a la carte budget we always ended up paying extra because we always went over it!)

We were really surprised when our normal dining package in July was granted the $50 credit for a la carte in Izumi. We were thrilled, frankly, and between three of us didn't come close to maxing out but my father wasn't big on the sushi.

Really gutted that I'll likely have to argue up to the $50 credit (or else send some emails now, pre-cruise, to verify information which I know to be true) because I didn't think to make a dozen copies of the 'terms and conditions' for a product I assumed would remain constant for at least 6 months!!! This is really aggravating.

I completely agree. Why call something Ultimate but limit where it can be used. If you have an Ala Carte credit of $50.00 why not just say it’s a credit for Izumi only and not call it an Ultimate Dining Package. Once you are onboard, you can’t go back to the details on the cruise planner.

I know I’m complaining but I’m still going to get it on my next cruise on Oasis in Oct ‘18 if it’s offered. I could eat at Chops and Park 150 every day while wishing so badly that we had something half this good back home.

  4. Yeah... this guy. I mean I accidentally got stuck watching his "show" on the cabin television, and he sounds a like a used car salesman. Not to mention all the wrong information he gave out, and the down right lies he told. Seriously.. if you are going to make up a story, write down the details so you do not forget what you said 5 minutes before.

    My thoughts exactly.

  5. I have never known tapas at VIntages to be included in any dining package.

Neither had I but then again I’d never known of an a la carte restaurant in a dining package and in the absence of anything official from RCI nobody can clarify this for me. I can’t get back to my cruise planner that had the details. Maybe I’ll send an email or just go to guest services and ask them.

  6. I’m on Oasis now, and to make matters even worse, nobody on here seems to understand the program either. I had understood the program to be $50? a la carte at any restaurant not having a set fee but the guy in vintages just told me it wasn’t and I thought it would be ok just for the tapas. I searched for a pdf online that I could use but couldn’t find anything but the usual blog post that shows up any time I search for RCCL stuff.

  7. Thank you. Hopefully the patient is doing better now. Based on the very sick statement, I'll assume and pray it's not my friend or her family members.

    Thanx

We pray that the patient is recovering. We are all concerned with the tragic events in Las Vegas and pray for the families affected by this terrible act of violence. Nobody onboard seems upset about missing labadee, I had previously booked Amiga Island because we really didn’t care too much for Labadee.

  8. Have no idea who it was or what the details are specifically but apparently the patient was very sick, the captain indicated that helicopter evacuation was not an option thus necessitating is going to Nassau. We didn’t appear to tie up but the patient was quickly transferred to a waiting ambulance.

The captain said that all the evacuation efforts involved more time than anticipated and would not allow for ample time to prepare Labadee for guests to enjoy the visit.

  9. I’m on Oasis for the first time and am in love. I’ve sailed many ships and for the most part like all of them but Oasis seems to score very high marks in my list of standards. The designers paid a lot of attention to the details, my C2 Central Park balcony cabin (11247) is one of the best cabins I’ve ever been in.

If you have any specific questions I’ll try to help answer them. Prior to the cruise I downloaded “Mega Sisters of the Seas” to my Kindle and have learned a lot about the inner workings and the story of how the Genesis project became known as the Oasis class and would recommend it to any cruise junkie.

  10. No one will care if you book somewhere else, bye

I don’t think it was rude at all, if petty little things like the aforementioned concerns are enough to make someone really consider going to another line then so be it. Who doesn’t use soap and conditioner at home? Do you need to take a cruise to get some soap? I bring everything that I will need and all of my toiletries are dispensed into smaller containers.

  11. My preference is for Chops Grille and in my opinion is absolutely worth the fee. The internet fee is something that gets debated every few days. I like to keep in touch with those friends and family back home, and I like the really good speeds as they are almost as fast as land based service providers. I don’t sail with any other lines so I have to idea what they offer but it is 1,000 times better than what it used to be.

You can keep your cell with you and many carriers have international rates, and of course you can always call your daughter from your stateroom phone but if the internet fee was disconcerting when you see the phone bill you may need a tranquilizer.

When you arrive on Grand Cayman, take a bus to Seven Mile Beach it’s a pubic beach and is free. Here is a link to the bus routes

  13. On my very first cruise, we used an agent and the experience with the agent was... not what I was expecting. It was essentially a very nice commission sale on their end cause I planned every detail and pored over books and brochures for months. The agent just collected a fee for not really doing much but being a intermediary.

Many years later, I have two dozen families that use me to plan for them. I wish I could be a TA so I could reap the benefits and continue to cruise by proxy.
