  1. I know this post is old but I thought I'd give it a shot. Our first Princess cruise with a Medallion is this Saturday. I have a lanyard to hold the medallion but it's kind of awkward. So I took a round Neodymium magnet I had and used it to hold the medallion to my shirt by placing the magnet on the inside, like a badge holder. Does anyone think this will interfere with the medallions electronics? How often do you have to hand the medallion to cruise personnel?

  2. Just want to say that we had a great tour of the Giant's Causeway and the Antrim Coast with Odyssey Tours in Belfast. They picked us up at the ship promptly and headed for the Causeway. During the Hour and half ride to the Causeway, the guide pointed out details of the countryside, so we were never bored. Once at the Causeway, we had an hour and a half to see this marvelous work of nature before boarding the bus for the return trip via the Antrim coastline. We made several stops for photos, but due to the crowd at the rope bridge, we bypassed this and went on to Ballycastle where we stopped for a nice lunch in one of the local pubs. Afterwards, in Belfast, we had a little time before we had to return to the ship, so the guide and driver took us into Belfast for a city tour. We saw the Peace Wall and the guide gave a good history of the war that was waged there for so long. For 25 Pounds per person, we got a great tour and saved a lot of money compared to the ships excursion. I highly recommend Odyssey Coach Tours. http://odysseycoachtours.co.uk/giants-causeway-tours/

  3. We're on the same TA this fall and I was really hoping that there would be some evenings of stargazing where they dim the lights. The last time I read about the "official" stargazing program on Princess it was being rolled out on Caribbean sailings only. So I wasn't sure if there would be anything on other sailings yet. You give me hope and even if it isn't officially sanctioned, it would be awesome to have an astronomer showing us around the sky!

I'd be happy to Pompeii, are you on the Roll Call for the cruise? I'll make an announcement there about me doing a Star Tour on the TA.

  4. Thanks for posting this. I've done Sky Tours while on the Dawn Princess back in 2007. I contacted the Cruise Director before the trip and offered my services as an experienced astronomer (hobby of 35 years). They put it in the newsletter and we had a good crowd up on deck off of Mexico. The CD gave me a $100 ship board credit for doing it. I'm glad to see that the Regal has this, since we're booked on the 15 day TA from Copenhagen to New York this coming September. I hope we get a few good nights while in the middle of the Atlantic. I'll see how well the staff is educated and offer my services for the more complex questions. :p

  5. Danish Viking,

My wife and I are flying in on the 9th of September two days before our cruise departs. I've booked a room at the Hotel Danmark, because it looked centrally located to all the sites we want to see. Any comments on the hotel? Is there a map available that shows the bus routes in the area? I was planning on buying the 48 hour Copenhagen Card for getting from the airport to the hotel and then for buses and Metro, museums, canal tour, etc. Should I take the train or the Metro from the airport to the hotel?

Thanks for all the useful information!
