  1. Funny story....We went on the Freedom back in 2015 with my parents among others. We have an autistic son who was 5 at the time. One night, they watched the kids while we went to Chops. They decided to ask for a peanut butter and Jelly sandwich in the MDR for him. The waiter came back with bread along with peanut butter and JELLO....  :D

  2. So we're doing a big family cruise with my side of the family at the end of June on the Freedom to the eastern Caribbean. My mom is going and she has MS and somewhat limited mobility. She normally uses a walker (with a built-in seat) and will be renting a scooter for the cruise as well. I have some questions though:

    1) We are going to Coco Cay. Is there any chance that she could get off the ship there? I've been there several years ago, but don't remember the particulars with tendering and wasn't exactly paying attention to handicapped accessibility. She can get up and down steps, but it's not easy. If she is able to get to the island, are there wheelchairs that can be used to get around in the sand? I know Disney's Castaway Cay has them...

    2) How about getting off in St. Thomas? Is it possible to take a scooter off at the pier? If she got off with the walker, is it relatively easy to get onto a taxi (one low to the ground) to go into town?

    3) I see there are a couple of handicapped accessible island excursions on St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Are these any good?

  3. Late Saturday afternoon, Cap'n Johnny got on the horn and said that Allure would be stopping at Nassau at around 4:30 AM Sunday to retreive her wayward child, Lifeboat #1. Even Radio doesn't get up THAT early so we missed it.

Johhny also rode his Harley in the promenade during the Saturday parade. VRROOOOM

I just got off the same cruise and Capt. Johnny confirmed the lifeboat was towed back to Port Everglades and arrived on, I think, Thursday. It was going to be hoisted back onto the Allure today. The cabling issue was fixed during the week.

  4. Glad to see someone other than myself was not impressed with Aruba. My DW loved it (we were cruising for her 50th birthday so it was a good thing ;) ) but I was not impressed at all. It seemed to me once you got away from the resort area, it was nothing but Aloe and cactus.

I was disappointed in Aruba as well. I loved Curacao though!

For this list though, I would vote for Belize City, followed by Costa Maya and Ocho Rios.
