  1. We've taken two northern transatlantics (NYC to Southhampton and Amsterdam to Tampa) and were surprised that daily high temps were in the 40s despite it being July and August.  Now we are taking a transatlantic from Florida to Spain in May.  Can anyone tell me what  to expect for daily temps while in the middle of the atlantic?   I know once we arrive temps will be in the 70s but not sure how cold it will be during this more southern crossing.  Thanks

  2. Another update.  We didn’t book a tour in St Lucia since we’ve been there several times.  In Martinique we booked the Best of Martinique tour.  It was a long day but a very nice tour of the island.  In St Kitts we booked the St Kitts Essentials and again we really enjoyed this tour.

One thing that has impressed us is the Captain and other officers are on the pier every day we are in port wishing us a good day as we leave. Like many of the things we like about Celebrity, it’s those small gestures and details that really make the difference.

We had dinner at Le Petite on day 3. This was our second time, having dined there on the Apex last year.   I must admit it wasn’t as exciting the second time but the food was excellent.  They told us they would be switching menus on day 5 for the remainder of the cruise.  We’ve had lunch at the spa cafe a couple of times.  We like the lighter fare for lunch.   Breakfast in the main dining room was tasty but service was quite slow so we tended to go to Oceanview cafe for breakfast.

it’s been quite hectic  since we’ve been in port every day for the past 5 days   We were invited to view the sail away from the helicopter landing pad at the front of the ship yesterday.  Again, a nice touch.  If invited,  I encourage you to attend. The view is spectacular.

The next two days will be sea days and we look forward  to relaxing and attending  the guest speaker’s talks about NASA and the space program.

Thanks for sharing. Do you have the premium or standard Wi-Fi?  We are boarding on Thursday and it’s our first time on Celebrity.

We upgraded the basic internet package to premium a couple of days ago and it is working better.  Still kicks us off now and then but not as often

  4. I know folks like to hear about what is happening on board.   We are on day 6 of a 10 day Southern Caribbean cruise.  It’s been a very nice cruise with just a few not so great things.  The good:  The ship is about 2/3 full so finding a seat at any of the venues  is easy.  The food  and service is very good in the  main dining room. However getting  drink service in the Oceanview cafe is next to impossible. . Our room is kept neat and tidy thanks to our steward.  Room service is delivered on time and it is warm.  Staff are friendly and you see the Capt out and about every day.  The music in bars and lounges is exceptional and the guest speaker presentations  have  been excellent.   The Xmas decorations are tasteful but only in the grand foyer.

There are a few negatives.   The theater shows have been sub par.   The comedian wasn’t funny, and just threw out old tired jokes.  We skipped the magician, just not our thing. The male singers in the large production shows are good but the women need to be told that screeching is not singing.  It was painful to listen at times.  The dancers were high energy and tried their best but often were out of sync with each other.  It looks like they haven’t danced together very long.  The acrobats added a nice touch to the show.     There isn’t a lot to do during the day if you don’t want to pay extra for activities and the movies offered are very dated  The internet is terrible as many have reported.

We’ve taken a couple of excursions that we ok.  Not great but not terrible.  I would suggest you not  bother going to the tropical garden in Barbados. All the orchids were killed off by hurricanes and volcanic ash so you end up walking through gardens and screened huts of sticks.  I’m not sure why they continue to take tours there.

As I said, it’s been a good cruise and the negatives are not enough to make us regret our decision to take this cruise.

Just got off the phone with Cunard.  They are offering 50% future cruise credit on the non refundable portion of our 2  cruises set to leave on March 17 and April 18th.   I can't believe they are not matching what Carnival, Princess,  Royal, Celebrity are offering.  We are in the high risk category (over 60 with underlying health issues).  We will lose thousands of dollars if they don't offer a full credit.   I will NEVER cruise with them again if that happens!

***UPDATE****   At 4 pm this afternoon, our TA called (at my insistence) Cunard again.  This time they offered us a Future Cruise Credit equal to 100% of our cruise that was to leave March 17 and 50% refund and 50% future cruise credit on our April 18th cruise.   The lady at Cunard said this new offer went into effect a 1/2 hr prior to us calling. We must book a new cruise within 90 days of receiving the FCC but the cruises can be anytime between now and 12/31/2021,     I am beyond sad we had to cancel these cruises but thrilled Cunard finally stepped up and offered what the other cruise lines are offering.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, appeared on "Meet the Press" today and said “When I say protect, I mean right now. Not wait until things get worse. Say no large crowds, no long trips. And above all, don't get on a cruise ship.”

I wonder how such comments will impact Cunard's thinking and their policy.

What Dr Fauci said on Meet the Press is “If you have an underlying medical condition, don’t get on a cruise ship”.    Let’s not create more hysteria than is already out there.

  8. In the past, Cunard would store your luggage (for a nominal fee) if you had another Cunard cruise booked within 60 days.    We are booked on the Queen Victoria which is scheduled to arrive in Southampton on March 28th, 2020 and we have a return cruise booked 3 wks later on the QM2 which also leaves from Southampton.  We need a place to store our luggage containing our formal wear between these two cruises (3 wks).   When I called Cunard today, the gal I spoke to had no knowledge of this service.    Does anyone know if Cunard has discontinued luggage storage between cruises?  If so, does anyone have any suggestions regarding how/where we can store luggage for 3 wks?     We may end up canceling one or both of these cruises if we can't figure this out.

    Thanks

  9. We will be stopping in Dublin, Cork, Waterford (Dunmore E) and Belfast in September. Has anyone just hired a taxi for touring in any of these areas? There are 4 of us and we really prefer to skip the "bus full of tourist" experiences. Any recommendations for private tours? Thanks

  10. We are taking the QM2 from NYC to Southampton UK this summer. We will then be spending 6 wks traveling Europe. We would like to ship a suitcase with our formal wear back to the US. Has anyone used a luggage shipping service. I found Luggage Forward will actually come to the port and pick up the bags. Thoughts?

  11. 4 of us are taking a TA cruise that leaves from Amsterdam and visits 4 ports in Ireland ( Dublin, Waterford/Dunmore E., Belfast and Cork) before crossing the pond. Are taxis readily available at these ports that we can hire for private tours or is it best to book ahead with a tour company? Suggestions of which private tour company we should use would be most appreciated
