Thanks for the encouragement! I have until 3-23 to decide on the cruise I have on hold. I plan to buy travel insurance thru Celebrity I don’t see an exclusion on the policy for pandemics. I have been vaccinated and if a booster is necessary I would hopefully be able to get it before I leave.

Sailing SOLO at 82!!! I’m wondering if I’m crazy.....I have a TA on hold for April 2022. Have to decide by Monday! I will be going Tampa to Barcelona and then going on to spend time with my German friends who my husband and I met cruising 20 years ago! This will most probably be my last trip to Europe. I’m been to all the ports on the cruise so it will be a little bittersweet for me. Probably won’t do much in the way of shore excursions. We loved sailing on TAs. Am I crazy or just plain stupid.....or should I just go for it?? I’m in fairly good health

Thinking of booking the Allure of the Seas TA in March. This would be my first solo cruise. I’m in my late 70s and love cruising but none of my friends want todo long cruises or fly so I am pretty limited! This thread has been very helpful. Think I will just bite the bullet and book it!

We did the burgundy tasting in Beaune and not the hospital. We found the wine just OK and no special experience. The "wine cellar" was in town directly across from the hospital. The wines, actually a pinot noir, were fairly expensive. Had a much better experience independently out of Lyon tasting beaujolias wines, and also touring and tasting chardonnay on an Avalon tour out of Macon... Fun![/quote]
Could you please share the name of the tour group you used in Lyons....Thanks

It was an interesting morning watching Loni Anderson, Joy Dewitt, Dick Van Patten, Dorris Roberts get wheeled of in a wheelchairs, and many others. Florence Henderson look wonderful. Saw Doc on board and said hello. Saw the crew later on all together. They look great, yet older again. looking forward to hearing Charo play tomorrow.
It is interesting so far....
Is that a joke??????? Were they really in wheelchairs?

Hi Terri, wonderful to "see" you again. I am glad you liked the tour to Porvoo.
The funicular to Mt . Fløyen is in walking distance from the pier. Mt Fløyen is not as high up as Ulriken but you will have a nice view of Bergen and the surroundings.
The cable car to Mt Ulriken is a 15-30 minute drive each way from the cruise pier.
The view from Mt. Ulriken is spectacular and much nicer then from Mt. Fløyen.
Due to the very changeable weather in Bergen the best thing would be to wait until you arrive to decide on which one you would do.
Its a small cruising world so we might sail again sometime:)
Thanks Lars.....that is what we will do. I found a web site that included a bus from the port area to the cable car. Sort of expensive but easy.

Hi Lars...
I want to thank you again for the wonderful day you arranged in Helsinki on the Baltic cruise. We had a great time!
Now, I have a question re Bergen. Would you recommend the funicular to Mt. Floibanen or the cable car to Mt. Ulriken? I believe either one of them can be done on our own.
Thanks and hope we sail together again....

I thinking you really meant a quadruple dog dare! :D
I'll start a roll call as soon as it is official, no worries on that.
Once it is official I'll reach out to Patrick in Bora Bora to set up our time there as well. If this year's cruise is in Bora Bora on Tuesday 11.4.14, next year will be Tuesday 11.5.15, pending weather and such of course. In '12 Patrick had a combination of things to do; a 4x4 all about Bora Bora (half day), a motu picnic with booze, victuals and snorkeling (half day), or a combo of both--the 4x4 in the AM and the motu in the PM. Was well worth the price. I'm not sure if we'd do the 4x4 again, but the Motu picnic was awesome.
Derek
We are on a cruise now. If anyone books Patrick for the 4x4 and lagoon before we get home please include us...Terri and Charlie
I have already started a roll call...can you tell I'm anxious!!

I have been following the Oct 18, 2014 Hawaii/South Pacific Crown Princess web page. :D https://crownprincesssouthpacific2014.shutterfly.com/
It has a page with Hotel Info....
It has more valuable information and might be something to consider! ;)
Thanks...that is a great web site. I hope some one on "our" cruise will do something like that. It is far beyond my level of expertise!
-
Our time on HAL's Westerdam doing a very similar itinerary was a GREAT time and I'm certain that the Crown'll be the same!
Yes I've already done my due diligence and "know" where we're staying pre & post the Fall '15 cruise. I know what is within walking distance and such.
Not that I'm excited or planning ahead for something that is 18 months away or anything! :D
Derek
How about sharing your pre & post plans.....Will be looking for a hotel at the port for pre-cruise.

Just got word....the Crown will do the route in the fall of 2015. I was hoping for the spring but will book the Crown when booking open

Looks like Princess is not doing this cruise. That's a real bummer!!!!! Does anyone have any experience on the Holland America Statendam? That has a great itinerary out of San Diego but my TA doesn't recommend the ship and we have no status on Holland. I'm really VERY disappointed.

Go Vol's and thanks for the heads up. We are booked on the Star for next April to Hawaii and the schedule looks like maybe they will be put us on the Ruby instead of the Star.? Nothing has changed on my booking-yet.
Seadeck2
The cruise we are talking about goes to Hawaii, Tahiti and Samoa. It is 28 days. Is that what you booked on the Star?

I too am waiting on the rest of the 2015 schedules and found the following information on the Port of Hawaii's website.
http://hidot.hawaii.gov/harbors/passenger-cruise-schedules/
April 09 2015 Ruby Princess Oahu
April 10 2015 Ruby Princess Hilo
April 11 2015 Ruby Princess Kauai
Wonderful!!!!!!! We will be there!!!!!!
BTW..say hello to Sarah for me!

We also would like to do a R/T out of LA or SF. We did Sydney to SF in 2009 and loved the islands portion of the cruise. We have our TA on alert as well.
According to the Princess website, the Ruby arrives on March 21st to LA and the next cruise is May 10th starting in Seattle for Alaska. So where is she sailing the month of April? I didn't see the Ruby scheduled for a drydock.
Jayne
Hi Jayne....
We were with you in 2009. Loved Bora Bora and Patrick! American Samoa with Tisa. I sure hope this works out. I also noticed that break in the Ruby schedule. Keeping my fingers crossed.
-
That's strange sure hope I am wrong, but was on the phone yesterday with TA for 30 mins she could not find it for 2015.
Have been looking at this cruise for a few years keep my fingers crossed....:)
HAL Statendam has 2 sailing RT San Diego 2/13/15 and 4/14/15.
-
I was told they are not doing these in 2015 was on phone with my TA yesterday Princess & HAL have cancelled them not sure why. It's our 40th Anniversay next Sep was planning on the October Princess.
But did get a great price for this year still deciding looks like we are out of luck!!!!
But should this change please let me know as 2015 is better for us.
Also would so LOVE to be wrong about 2015
Hopefully, you got some "misinformation"...I just checked HAL and they still have this cruise for 2015. I really like HALs better but it is more expensive and we have no status on HAL. Talked to my TA...she has not heard anything.
-
Still waiting...we leave on April 23rd and I sure hope this is out before then!
-
I just got off the CB and the FCC on board said that she beleives they will be released in June or July...
I doubt it will be that late. I figure it will be some time in April.
-
Anyone know when the of the Princess cruises schedule will come out for 2015-2016.
In particular looking for the Ocean Princess itineraries that cover Asia/Africa region.
I'm waiting too.....
-
We are looking for spring of 2015. From what I can figure, I think it will be the Ruby...sure wish it would come out. The suspense is killing me!!!!
-
Great Sleuthing there GoVolsTB! ;) I hope this "Thread" keeps going until the actual postings for this cruise! Might be interested in the Fall of 2015 versus a 15 day Hawaii in 2015! This would be the best of both worlds!!!!!:D
Hopefully, we will know soon
-
When looking at the Ruby schedule for 2015...there is a gap in April on arrival in LA and May before it starts Alaska cruising. I'm thinking that might be the ship for the RT LA. We really want to do this cruise and we can't sail it this year. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
-
Does anyone have any idea when these cruises will be posted? We really want to do the spring cruise.

Changed my mind!! Booked a Royal Caribbean Brilliance of the Seas TA for less than 1/2 the price! I love Celebrity but I just can’t justify the price.
