I understand. My opinion on it is pretty solid especially after Carnival shutdown the site to submit for under 12 non-vaccinated. Many people never got the chance to submit, over 12 non-vaccinated were not considered, and who knows what other potential legal issues they could face. I think they take a step back after seeing all the frustration and chaos, set it straight, and say vaccinated only. Seriously, there would be so much ground for age discrimination on just one sailing that it could become Class Action. CCL would not want that on their hands and easier to nip it in the bud before it could get that far.

The link was not limited to children under 12, it was for children under 12 who cannot be vaccinated and exemptions as required by federal law.  So far, no one from the first sailing out (July 3, Vista) has been notified confirmation that they were approved for the 5%.  We are still waiting.  The deadline to cancel/rebook this specific sailing (July 3, Vista) is Monday June 14th.

All the more this makes me think they are just going to ONLY allow the under 12 kids.  You don't need to do follow up or have a detailed form if you can simply look at the booking and tell who is and is not under 12.   I am willing to bet that all the over 12 folks will be told no on their exemption.  And, really, that makes sense because the under 12 kids pose the lowest risk for contracting, spreading or getting seriously ill if they do contract it.

The way the online exemption form was presented for the July 3rd Vista sailing, there have been several people who submitted more than 1 form.  For example, in my specific case, I submitted the first form because it said booking #.  I then realized it should have been my kids' booking # for the exemption.  So I submitted a 2nd form just for the kids' booking.  We are still waiting for a confirmation response from Carnival.  Unfortunately, Carnival only extended the Cancel/Rebook option to Monday June 14th.  So if they dont let us know soon if the kids in our booking made the 5%, we will be out a ton of money.

Just call your PVP.  He booked my wife and I in a room and our kids in another room so we could take advantage of the free cheers offer.  Technically he booked me and my brother in law in one room. My wife and my sister in another. And 5 kids in a room.  Now all 4 people have cheers and the kids aren't even in a connection room.

From what I understand a PVP has to do this.  You can't do this online

Minor kids can be booked in their own rooms, there are a few restrictions regarding balcony rooms and children under the age of 12 must be booked next to or directly across from legal guardian. and 13-17 can be within 3 staterooms away.

Thats kinds what I thought just thought it weird to have the ability to change the names online. Personally I don't have much hope the cruise will even go but just in case. Any idea if I will get the Cheers once we switch onboard?

The rates are different with the Cheers on Us or Free Cheers promos.  Even if you do switch rooms, it would be door card access only, you will still be berthed to the room you were assigned when the manifest was approved for sailing.  So no, if you switch once onboard, you will not be granted the cheers promo.

If you want to be under the cheers promo, have the child in your husbands room moved to your current room and you move to you husbands room.  There will most likley be a fee, but you may get approval for a fee waiver if you state you were not aware your minor kids could be booked in a room by themselves without an adult being booked in the same room.

  5. I had the same scenario, booked under my maiden name for a honeymoon cruise, and traveled with my drivers license with my married name (I was able to get it updated right before leaving on honeymoon).  She will need to bring her marriage certificate to bridge the updated travel documents (ie, Drivers License) from the birth certificate and booking documents.  Or -- if she doesnt update her drivers license, she can still travel under her maiden name/booking name.   But will still need to provide a birth certificate + Drivers License.

  6. Independent TA's that book cruises for their clients through Carnival (GoCCL.com) generally get 10-15% commission of the total fare, and that commission is paid once the booking is paid in full.  In the event that there have been multiple rebookings from an original sailing, Carnival can "protect" the" commission already paid out, in most cases - which would not impact the TA nor the client. Meaning the TA would not have to return the already paid out commission.

I personally would not use a TA that charges any "fees", as most people can just as easily book their own vacations either through discount suppliers and or a PVP directly.

Do we then carry around 2 sail and sign cards then?  One to get into our room and one to swipe for drinks?

You will get two keys.  Your sail & sign card and a "room only" blue card (no name, no identifier, just "room only") that will open the door in which you are not berthed to.

No this is not a should I purchase the package lol but my question is should I buy it now for my August 2021 cruise or should I wait? Do they ever do any sales for more then the 10% off the price of doing it on the ship? I have heard rumors that when cruising starts up again things like the beverage package will be more expensive to cover some of the losses for the cruise line. So what would you do???

If you purchase it now and Carnival happens to run a sale later on, you can always cancel the one you bought, and repurchase at the discounted rate.  That way you will not have to worry about the price increasing.

Question, how does one book for the first night?  Just stop by and request a reservation?

    Thanks,

    baf

Reservations are now done online pre-cruise (of course you can still try to book once onboard, but 1st night and elegant nights book up)

  10. If you are on the fence about it and have never experienced Cheers before, I would suggest to just purchase it, use it and then after your cruise, decide if you want to purchase it again.  There are so many mathematical formulas to calculate the differences and many opinions on why you should/should not purchase.

  11. I posted this on another thread and wanted to share here.  If you used a GC to purchase your cruise fare and the cruise is cancelled by carnival and you decide to rebook - the FCC is moved to the new booking regardless how you paid for it (GC or not).

If you used a gift card to pay for anything from the funshops (Cheers, Bubbles, Pixels... etc) you can call (1-800-522-7648) and have the items purchased moved over to your new booking, instead of waiting for a gift card refund.  Its best to do it the same day you move your FCC+OBC over to the new booking.  I just moved my Cheers - which I purchased during the 10% off cheers promo AND I used a 12% discounted Gift Card to pay for from a Sept 2020 cruise to a Feb 2021 cruise.

This discounted Cheers transferred to a new cruise without you having to pay more?  That's great!  I will definitely have to remember this if my November cruise gets canceled.

Yes!  It was a cheers package transfer and not a monetary transfer.  Hopefully you wont have to deal with it and your cruise sails.  Good luck!

Damn, I wish I had known this.  I had bought Cheers during the 10% discount sale and used GC (it was a significant savings).  I thought I had to accept the cancellation.  Thanks for the info. Will remember this if it happens again..

That's why I figured I should share the information with all of the cancellations/rebookings going on.  I did the same with the Cheers discount + the 12% GC savings, I didnt want to lose any of it and/or wait months for a new GC to be mailed.

  14. For those that had a recently cancelled cruise and used a gift card to pay for anything from the funshops (Cheers, Bubbles, Pixels... etc) you can call (1-800-522-7648) and have the items purchased moved over to your new booking, instead of waiting for a gift card refund.  Its best to do it the same day you move your FCC+OBC over to the new booking.  I just moved my Cheers (which I used a Gift Card to pay for) from a Sept 2020 cruise to a Feb 2021 cruise.

what about if you already have OBC from a previous cancellation/rebooking? would you get additional OBC?

Unfortunately not.  We had 4 cruises cancelled this year (so far - two more are up for possible cancellations).  If you took the OBC offer and rebooked and that rebooked cruise is also cancelled and you rebook again, you do not get to "roll" OBC.  But you can have multiple FCC+OBC cruise bookings for different cruises.  In our case, we had to rebook 2 cruises 2x's already, but the OBC is only the original amount of 600.00.
