  1. My husband and I have been checking to see what immunizations are recommended for the various countries we will be visiting on the complete QE world voyage. For many of the places, immunizations for Typhoid and Malaria were recommended, along with some others like Hep. A and B.

For those of you who have taken this route before, do you get a Typhoid, Malaria and other immunizations? We don't want to get shots we really don't need. Advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

  2. I've seen several discussions posted related to Saver Fares and what you get and don't get when you purchase your voyage with one.

What exactly is a Saver Fare? and Where do you get them?

  3. We have been offered a cabin on Deck 5 on the Queen Elizabeth across from the launderette. It would be a two-grade upgrade for us (from BD to BB, aft to midships).

Has anyone had experience with this cabin on this deck or across from the launderette on any deck. Will it be noisy? Do you hear passengers coming and going into the launderette?

It will be convenient having the launderette close by, but not if it is a noisy area.

    Thanks,

    Grace

  4. We took a United morning flight from Dulles (Washington) to Heathrow and the plane was less than half full--leaving us with three seats each to stretch out on. We are wondering if that flight is usually less traveled. We are flying to Heathrow in January to meet a ship in Southampton and debated booking Premium Economy where we get a little more leg room or taking the early flight and getting thee seats each.

Have any of you taken the United AM flight to Heathrow and found lots of empty seats. We want to make sure our one flight with them wasn't a one-off thing.

    Thanks,

    Grace and John

  5. We are flying into Heathrow in January and then traveling to Southampton to pick up our ship. Would we get a better fare booking our air transportation early, like now, or watching for specials or sales?

  6. We are going to be flying into Heathrow in January and traveling down to Southampton to meet the Queen Elizabeth. With the weather that time of the year being unpredictable, we think it might be wise to arrive in Southampton a day before the ship sales.

Which leaves us with the following questions: Is there transportation that goes directly from Heathrow to Southampton? Must we go into London to pick up bus/train? If we opt for Cunard provided transportation, will it take us the day before the ship sails?

Thank you for any information you can give us.

  7. A book I've recomended to many is Outlander by Diana Gabladon. It's in the romance section but not the typical trashy romance novel. More of a historical love story. There are 5 in the seris but the first is by far the best!

    Have a great cruise!

I was just thinking of recommending Diana Gabaldon's series, starting with "Outlander," when I saw this posting. The only danger is, once you start reading it, you won't want to put it down, and you may miss lots of shipboard activities. I just finished the 7th book in the series, and when I finish one of the books in the series, I feel like I have moved away from people I have come to know and love. Can't go wrong with this series. Popular with women and men!

I had the please of hearing Diana Gabaldon speak on one of her book tours. She is so gracious and just a lovely woman. By the way, her latest book in the Lord John series is just coming out.

There, you have two recommendations for the same author! Best take it!!
