  1. 1) What type of pillowcase and markers do you need to leave at the service desk for the characters to sign? 100% cotton, cotton blend? Sharpies? How many?

    2) I have read some reviews and keep seeing things about character tickets. Are these tickets to see characters and do you need to pre-order them?

Traveling with special needs young adult who will be so disappointed if he doesn't get to see Goofy!

Thanks in advance for your answers.

  2. Thank you for your quick reply. We probably won't use the wheelchair. He is ambulatory; he just can't do long distances easily but he can handle the tram and the sand pretty well with assistance. He is so excited for this. He has almost every Disney character shift plush toy including Clarabell the vow which he go this year! but I told him he could only take five of them on the trip, otherwise all of them would be coming and we would have to pay for extra luggage! Lol

  3. We are traveling with special needs sin (23 but think 7) and the only excursion he wants to do it go to the beach which is fine with us because of some mobility issues. We probably won't stay all day but I do want some shade while we are there. Are there beach umbrellas and chairs or so we have to have the cabana for this? Thanks for answers. Btw we will probably be at adult area most if the time we are there, especially for lunch.

  4. Thank you so much for your reply. That's about the boat we're in, pun intended. Pizza will work fine for him as will fajitas and hamburgers. I just needed to make sure that was available. Couldn't imagine it would not be on Disney, but I do have to make sure of a lot of things before we travel. When we were on Carnival, our waiters were wonderful for him. At dessert time the first night, they ask if he wanted something and he said red grapes and every night they brought him a bowl of red grapes when everyone else got warm melting chocolate cake. He's broaden his tastes a little since he has moved to the group home, but I still have to make sure he's not going to go hungry because of something they are serving that night.

  5. Does anyone know where I can get a look at the children's menus for the Dream? DCL's search for menus only pops up the adult ones. My special needs adult son only eats certain things and I just need to know if I am going to be able to order those things from the children's menus each evening or plan on eating somewhere other than dining room.

    Thanks!

  6. I haven't booked yet so not sure which ship it will be. He is ambulatory but I generally use a wheelchair to get him on board and off. He walks fairly well and just needs help with stairs and steps sometimes. He is so looking forward to this. I can leave him by himself with instructions to stay out, I am just not real comfortable with it. His dad ,ay decided tomgo so that would solve the problem. Thanks for the replies

  7. My son will be 25 in a couple of years and has asked for a Disney cruise for his birthday. He is ambulatory, but is cognitively delayed and has some mobility issues. I generally don't like to leave him along for too long a period, but I would like to spend some time at the spa. Is there an in cabin babysitting service I could use if I need a break. It would just be the two of us, so I might need some help occasionally

  8. We're planning a vow renewal on the Carnival Ecstasy June 2009. I can't decide whether to do it in port, for which I will have to pay the wedding prices, but could have people who are not sailing with us come, or do it at sea. Since they don't do it on formal days, would we be giving up one of our excursion days for the renewal or would they do it the last sea day? I don't know if I want to wait that long into the cruise to do the renewal.

  9. Do they give you a pillow or something to raise you head if you have a beach bed? I absolutely can't lay flat on my back for very long! Can you get an umbrella over it too as I burn really quickly? Thanks
