  1. We also had a port cancelled - Colon.  We had booked the 2 day extension so we would be able to see Panama City (11/27/23 cruise).  Now we have an extra day in Panama City and are wondering what we will do with that many days in Panama City.  It can be frustrating!

  2. We did a combination of things going the first weekend in September.  We flew to Fairbanks and rented a car for 5 days. The pilot on Alaska Airlines flew us around Denali as it was a bright gorgeous day.   We went to Valdez, Copper River, North Pole, and pipeline, etc.  We bought a small styrofoam cooler at Walmart so we always had food - things are a long way apart in Alaska.  We joined the Princess tour in Fairbanks with sightseeing there and bus to Denali.  Be sure to do the 8 hr. tour at Denali.  Took train to join the ship then 7 day cruise, finishing in Vancouver.

This year we are doing 7 days cruise ending in Vancouver and then taking Rocky Mountaineer train with stops in Banff, Lake Louise, and ending in Calgary.

  3. We just returned from Canada and New England cruise. Joined cruise in Quebec City on Oct. 22. It was cold but beautiful. The trees were just past prime but wonderful colors for a Texan to see. We couldn't sit on deck without a coat (we had snow one day). Loved the cruise. Some of the towns were basically shutting down when we left but the people were so welcoming to us.

  4. We were in Guatamala on Thanksgiving. We asked for Manual and Jeremy at the taxi site outside the terminal area. Jeremy is from Antigua. He speaks excellent English. There were 6 of us and we paid $30 each for 4-1/2 hours. It is about an hour to Antigua. We saw a smoking volcano on the way as well as a rock shaped like a face. There were excellent roads to Antigua and we saw soldiers along the way and in Antigua. Jeremy said they are always out in force when a ship is in port to assure the safety of the tourists. We went to a hotel that had been a nunnery. We roamed the beautiful grounds and had drinks in the restaurant. We went to the main plaza and wandered the shops around the square. We also went to the big yellow church - La Mersed I think. It was gorgeous inside and outside too. The English couples we were with wanted to see where the locals shop, so we went to a huge building with the local shops in it - everything from bread to blankets, etc. We had lunch in a local restaurant that was semi-open to the outdoors. We had a wonderful large lunch. We stopped at the local marina on the way back to the ship - our English couple are fishermen in England. We saw many sugar cane fields on the way to and from Antigua in different stages of harvesting. We also went to the Jade factory and had a private tour because the regular tour was in Spanish at that time. It was a wonderful day and we got to see what we wanted to see. We want to return to The country and spend more time there.
