  1. they still offer stock credit. There is an online form. Whether or not you can stack seems to depend on your luck. If you got OBC from your travel agent, you should still be able to get your stock credit, but if you got some kind of discount from RCCL (like a gambling credited cruise) then they have been saying no.

  2. I am a vegetarian. The main dining room has gotten much better but the specialty restaurants are not so great. However, we enjoy going to different restaruants so I splurge and buy the unlimited every now and then. I find something to eat and enjoy the ambiance and the service even if it's not always great vegetarian food. For example, when we went on Ovation in August and ate at Chops, I told them I was vegetarian and they offered me up a pasta dish. It was the burrata dish from Jaimie's. Chops really had nothing. I've had Chops put together vegetable platters and they can do that but they don't really "make" you something. In Wonderland they ended up giving me a large serving of the vegetable garden thing which was really good, but it was difficult to order something from each season. I enjoy it but be prepared for limited choices.

I have the PCR/NAAT at CVS scheduled for tomorrow morning then the the ID NOW at Walgreens in the afternoon. I also ordered the home test from eMed.  I'm so afraid that we are going to fly to Seattle from Florida and find out that we did the wrong test.

We did the CVS rapid test (I thought it also said NAAT). I printed out the results and it was accepted without problem. I wanted to know my results before flying to Seattle from Florida too.

  4. You can't go wrong with any of them, but I think the one that starts in Barcelona and ends in Rome would be a good first trip. I would plan at least one extra day in Barcelona before the cruise sails and one extra day in Rome at the end. Going to Rome in the middle of a cruise does waste a bunch on time on transportation and makes for a very long day. Plus you don't get that experience of wandering the city at night and stopping at a cafe for a glass of wine and dinner. I love'd that about Rome and Barcelona. Rome is about an hour away from the port - which makes for at a minimum 2 hours getting there and back. Canne is right at the port as is Villefrance, Genoa and Portofino. That means you only have to travel to Florence. Villefrance is lovely and it was easy to get to Nice and Eze. Canne is pretty cool to see the French Riveria.  I have not been to Genoa.

    • June 13th, 2022 - Barcelona, Spain | Cruising | Monte Carlo (Cannes), France | Nice (Villefranche), France | Genoa, Italy | Portofino, Italy | Florence/Pisa (Livorno), Italy | Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy

Then you just have to go back and do a Med cruise that starts in Venice (Ravenna) and hits up Dubrovik and Athens.

On Allure last week you got 12 hours of time throughout the week to assign when you boarded. After everyone had a chance to get times that first day you could book more.

We are travelling on Allure in December with our  3 year old granddaughter.

So - her parents will get "12 hours" of time to use Adventure Ocean but then can schedule more time? Did it ever fill up and you weren't able to get time? Did they make the kids wear masks the whole time?

thanks for any additional info about the kids club.

I see you are from PA as am I.  How safe did you feel on the 6 hour flight to Seattle?

How did you feel on the ship overall?  And I hear Northstar as of yesterday was still broken. Darn

Who was your captain and cruise director if you can remember?  Did you hear of anyone being called to the medical center for a tracelet issue and to be tested?  thanks in advance for answering if you can

I don't think Northstar is "broken." We were told it was closed because of COVID. They don't have the staff to clean it between parties and because it is an enclosed space, it would have to be limited to individual parties. Same as the escape room.

We aren't from PA but had a 6 hour flight from Tampa and felt quite safe. We were very impressed with the safety measures on the ship - lots of cleaning, and reinforcing the rules about masks and social distancing. Plus - a big plus for me was that they required vaccinations for all people over 12 and dockside testing for those children who could not get the vaccine.

Cruise director was some gentleman who now lives in Tampa - middle aged white guy (can't remember his name.) He was pretty good.

  7. We did unlimited just before COVID when travelling with friends who also enjoy dining and we loved it. Loys of fun to try new restaurants. Of course we are all experienced cruisers so the MDR was no longer special. But, I don't need to do it everytime. We just got off Ovation last week and we did the 3 night package which was great. (Chops, Jaimes and Wonderland.)

FYI - under COVID restrictions you cannot sit at a table with strangers in the MDR - so you won't get to meet many new people at dinner. Luckily we were seated at a table for 2, right next to a table for 2, and were able to meet and chat with those new cruise friends - but it's not like the old days. This time, we switched from anytime dining to early dinner (5:30) and found that service was much faster than before. Maybe because they need to get the first group in and out? Anyway, we were always able to be done in 1.5 hours to make a 7 pm show.

Cruising Celebrity in early September and they just announced everyone requires a negative test prior to boarding - vaccinated or not.  Needs to be 72 hours prior and since we are flying in a couple days early looking at options in downtown.  They accept PCR or Antigen test, but I don't think a PCR result could be guaranteed in time.  We will not have a car so drive-up sites are out anyway (such as Walgreens or CVS).  This is really stressing me out - does anyone have any suggestions?

We are in the same boat (pun intended). Royal says 3 days - not 72 hours which might help.  I called Royal and we can be tested on Tuesday for a Friday sailing which means we can test at home before flying to Seattle. Not sure if that helps you. My other thought was to get a taxi or Uber, or see if my transport driver from the airport to Seattle would do the drive through at CVS or Walgreen's on the day we arrived in Seattle.

  9. FYI - Some testing centers require you drive up. We are cruising out of Seattle after flying in a day earlier and discovered that the CVS and Walgreen's testing in Seattle all require you to drive up. We won't have a car so we will get our test at home before flying out. Our Florida CVS and Walgreens offer free testing. CVS asks if you need the test for travel (it's one of the ways they can get the test to qualify for government funds to pay for the test.)

I am just wondering what people think about still having to wear masks while inside of the ship except while actively eating, drinking, or inside room cabin. It really seems over the top since the ship is fully vaccinated for everyone 12 or up on our August 16th trip to Alaska on Serenade of the Seas out of Seattle! Really ridiculous considering that the rules out of Florida are not even requiring a vaccine!

I agree - and hope that they change that rule. We are scheduled to sail on Ovation out of Seattle in August and I really don't want to be wearing masks all the time. (I'm 100% in favor of masks when they are helpful but since we will be a 100% vaccinated cruise, it doesn't seem to make sense.)

  11. We used Dancing Bears and they couldn't have been more wonderful. My husband took his walker both days on our two days in St. Petersburg. Our guide made sure he got accessible access everywhere (the Russian ADA people practically carried him down the escalator to the subway) and the driver always got the van as close as possible. It worked really well. His walker has a seat and when he gets too tired, he just sits a few minutes so that he can continue on the tour.
